Post by: gjw77 on July 16, 2007, 06:10:00 PM
Does anyone here have any experience with the fred bear custom recurve quiver?
I waited for one that was on backorder for 3 months.Got it today and installed it on my bear grizzly.I filled it up with arrows and went to trhe yard.It doesn't affect my accuracy any but wow does it make a lot of noise.Any suggestions on how to quiet it down?

You must first check for any loose parts. Anything that's the least bit loose will cause some noise... I use Locktite on all screws.

Make sure you have feather clearance and point clearance (if you loaded it with broadheads).

Put a piece of felt, thin leather or rubber between the bow and the attachment points... snug it down real good. The screws provided work loose easilly. I replaced them with bolts and lock washers.

I took some cheap WalMart yarn and wrapped around the square center post from hood to holder and that helped a lot.

Thanks again Charlie,
I noticed that I had to turn the arrows so the feathers ween't in close proximity that cured a lot of it.
While I'm waiting on my two new strings I'll find some felt or rubber and do the yarn trick, sounds like that will dampen some vibration.
