Great pics! What camera are you using?
Nice shots Kenny. Keep posting bow seasons right around the corner.WOOOFAAA.
Thats a $100 Moultrie,Tyler. Takes decent pics, but seems a lil slow on reaction time to me.....and it eats batteries, but I gave it the benford 2000 tune up with a $40 tractor 6v battery and some wires with clips. Checked the voltage on both batteries first, both 6.4v,so far nuthin burned up and over 200 pics taken, still shows full battery!
Thomas,I'll keep postin the better ones, hopin someone else jumps in with a few!
Okay Kenny here goes. We just set this a couple days ago and boy did we get it in the wrong place. Thought it would work on a deer trail but we had tons of pics of birds, squirrel's and rain drops. Here's a pic of the biggest critter caught. Guess it was me looking to see if it worked.
Here are a couple of pics of our yard deer...date and time stamp is still off.
oops...I can't get it to work...will try again tomorrow.
Hey Kenny
I have the same camera. Everthing you said about yours goes for mine to. Not to bad in the slow dept though. I will try that tractor battery.Do you put it in a bag or something? Did you have to drill a hole in the bottom of your camera for the wires? Last question. did you by a card for yours or one of those usb with the big barn looking end?
Gene
ttt
Just put mine on a water hole, hope to post some in a week or two...
I'll play. I bought 160 acres of timber south of Steelville, MO in early April. It was logged summer of '05. They took everything 18"and bigger that was straight. It is coming up thick. These are from early spring. Just a cheapie Wildview camera.

Geno, please check voltages with a meter ,I'd hate to be responsible for burnin up somebody elses camera!! Cabelas has a 6v charger for moultries for $25,but I'm gonna see how long the tractor batt lasts! Had a boat batt box,few squirts of flat black, good ta go... Yeah I had to drill the bottom of the camera and ants moved in once,so I may replace my wires with a piece of old ext cord so the hole is full.
Court,I end up with a lot of pics of me like that, may be why my cam is skittish!!LOL
John, those are good pics,ya got a salt lick there?
The solar salt for water softener. They love it...and it's cheap, like me :)
 :D
John that first buck is getting that roman nose. That is a good thing..thanks kenny will do !! How about that card or usb cord Question to get to your pc. I can only view mine on the tv right now.
G
Oh yeah, forgot that one! I use a 512 mb card,it also fits into my kodak digital,so I just slap it in there, put it on the dock and load em on the computer!
Heres one from my neighbor from last nite, sorry bout the quality, had to zoom in a lot! :wavey:
nice buck....
Here's some from the first week over a mineral lick by a creek crossing... Nothing special just a lil buck and a couple does so far...
This lil fella gets a pass from me, but he will be toast if comes within 50 yds of the stand with my son pulling the trigger... unless buck fever takes control... Most of us have at least one story about that...

Just get a tube a silicone to fill the holes... works fine... I've also seen where some have added a drop of silicone to fill in the gap in the weatherprooh seah seal.. just smear a bunch vaseline on the cover where it mates so it won't dry shut...

That must be down near the Flint... near the cove by chance?
sorry bout all the extra space guys, not too good with this pic posting stuff
Can't really say Slasher, they were taken on a camera i loaned to a young fella that comes in my store---but that's a good guess cause the cove has always had big bucks, genetics must be strong in there.
Camera's a Cuddeback no flash model---takes great pics but the battery holder arrangement is a real pain

Awsome! Love the Elk shots.
Cant't get enough elk pics - Trail cams are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another option for battery life is to get a rechargeable battery and a solar panel ($20 each) at Wally World. I have yet to set up my camera. Need to get that done.
Santiam,
Which cuddeback camera are you using? Those are awesome pic's.
Terry

Kenny, that looks like some really nice hunting country. What's growing in the field ?
Joel, its soybeans, milo and CRP from near to far, they've bout ate the beans clear off! It's a piece of CRP ground thats been in my family for awhile, somehow I ended up takin care of it so I plant a little for the deer. All three of my boys took their first deer on this piece, heck, guess I did too cept it was pasture and brush then!!
Heres 2 gentleman of the night from my No Flash at my Northwest Mississippi River Club. Photos taken over soybeans and mineral block

Joe, Nice bucks. Looks like it might be the same buck, but either way you got some nice ones down there. I got to get one of those cameras...
I thought the same thing bbassi but G3's make them different and brow tines are slightly off also. Mineral Block buck could be a $100 fine that I might have to pay come october to the club :D our club minimuns are 18"spread or 24"main beam.
great little gadgets those trail cams eh? anyone got one in realtree for sale?
Checked one of the trail cams around lunch today. Here's a pic of "Should Have Been No.2", we call him that because last year I had him at less than 15 yards but the proper shot never came. Later in the fall my Youngest missed him with his Dark Side Bow so we named him. "Should Have Been No.1" hangs on the wall in my bow room. We didn't find him til the next mornin' and the coyotes had a hayday.

I have plenty of good pictures saved in files if I can figure out how to get them to the post. Any help is appreciated.
Richie,
You have to upload them to a site like photobucket and then you can post them.
After they are uploaded Photobucket provides the link that you can copy and past so they show up in the post.
Check out this thread for more info
http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=045582
If you don't have Photobucket or don't want to set it up (its free) send them to me and I'll post them for you.
Jason
Curt, thats Biggie future Hogzilla..He's feeding him nothing but mayo....I'm a whole lot better getting live pictures than Hero pictures on these southern bucks!!. maybe this year.......

TJ, that is an older Moultrie 3.1 i think they called it the gamespy 200.
Shawn and Osage, We'll have to get together sometime.
My wife came in last night and said there was giant buck in the yard. She knows what a big buck looks like so i can't wait to get a pic of him.

QuoteOriginally posted by kennym:
Ronald, how do ya like the Bushnell cam?
Kenny...I'm not real sure? The pics were rather dark and i had to brighten them enough to see what was in the pics. This is the top of the line Bushnell. It actually belongs to a friend of mine who didn't have time to put it out so he sent it to me to play with. But I'm still playing with the different modes to see what works best.
The Bushnell pics don't even compare when put up against the Cuddeback pics. But if you're jsut interested in seeing whats in your area it will work just fine. Overall it seems pretty easy to use, but the mounting bracket leaves alot to be desired!
TK
Awesome buck Ron!
Same deer from a previous post but a different shot. I moved my camera and the next time I check it (a couple weeks) it should be awesome (I hope!)

Biggie what the heck is that!?!?! LOL someone chime in on that
Biggie, are you serious? That thing is awesome, but I have no clue what that is....and I kinda take pride in knowing my critters......
Maybe Joey let that sucker go at your place :biglaugh:
Way cool!!!!!! Have no ideeer what it is but probably never have seen it without the trail cam!!!!
jake
It looks like a civet to me. Are you sure your gutpile is in Georgia?
Cheers,
Grant
Sell the house Biggie!!!!!!! Its....a...aa....aa....South Ga Cattywampus.!
Don't know Biggie, but it sure is a cool looker!
Quiver material?? :bigsmyl:
looks kinda African to me
Biggie, that is an African Civet Cat. if it is runnin wild in Ga then it got away from someone or was turned loose by someone. Might want to call the local Game Warden and have them trap it.
Danny
Good pics all. I haven't seen a buck yet this summer, but I have seen quite a few does with twins.
I believe Danny Rowan is right about the civet cat (definitely not North American). Anyway cool pic. Don't get too many of those.
that thing in Biggies pic looks like what we call a side hill clincher here in the Dacks!!!
.....and you thought all you brought back from Africa was dead animals!
I spent an hour trying to figure out what that is. It's not a cat, it's not a canine... looks kinda like a coon. Couldn't find a picture of it in Africa, Australia, or South America...
Thats a civet cat.Leopard snack.
a banded palm civet cat.
Hah! Grant got it right 1st...I'll admit to trying to fake you guys out. Uncle Gene got that pic in Africa a few weeks ago. It is a Civet cat.
Grant wins.
Let's see,he wins.......well.......nothing!
Joebuck. called me and wants to trap it. He thinks he can train it to retrieve ducks...
Biggie, that ain't funny! I already emailed the photo to someone else, told them it was from Ga.
Dummy Dan will believe anything!
You guys are easy! You should know Biggie better than that by now :>)
I put out one set cam. Daytime stuf was mostly vultures, wartyhogs, etc but the night shift was special. I got hyenas, civet, genet, jackel, porcupine, honey badgers, etc. I ran out of hooves and guts one day so I set down a heavy glass jar of whitetail estrus scent with the lid off. A hyena demonstrated his jaw power by crushing and eating the heavy glass jar, lid and everything in it! I imagine he has rectal itch by now....
LOL, That's funny I just got the new issue of TBM and read your article this evening where you call Biggie a raptor. Now I know what he's thinking about when he sits up there waiting for his prey :)
By the way I got a new gamespy 200 today and will be putting out tomorrow. I checked my other camera and something nocked it around on the tree go I got 68 pics of grass. Oh well hopefully I'll have some new pics when I check it next weekend.
Hes sniffin around impala legs not Georgia deer legs.I know this because I am a highly trained CSI Trad Gang Opperative, just dont tell any one.
Finally got one set out last week. Watching a corner of a hayfield on the edge of a strip of brush between two fields. Moved it today after checking.
It finally rained so I could move a stand near a open gate funnel where I killed a Buck last year. Stay tuned as there should be some good pix next week.
This one is missing a G2 on the left side!

Got this one the other night. I've seen him each of the last three years got really close to him two years ago. But as he gets older I see him less and less. He is not the biggest in the woods but he is old and smart. He would not go near the feeder and i haven't seen him since.
Here's a poor quality 35mm picture of the same buck 2 years ago at the same location.
Heres another rather poor quality 35mm from several years ago. I never seen this buck only a few photos during the summer.

Jayhawker,
First time I see something on my camera like that I hope I have an extra pair of drawers with me
that last one is a PIG!
Jayhawker, GREAT bucks!!!!!!!
Nice bucks Jayhawker, but the last one is the one I've been lookin for for 30 years!! Heckofabuck!!
i think i'll name this pic "busted".
That last one is big. Like I said, i've not seen him alive or heard of anyone around killing him. The photo is scanned and hard to see real good but I think he is amainframe 6 by 5.... maybe.
Anyway, I don't know what he would score but it would be quite alot. However, that's probably as close to him as I will ever get, but it's fun seeing what is out there.
Kenny, I've spent a good deal of time looking for him as well. I think you may have about as good a chance at him as I do.
Mike
Do you think the 3-D target might key them off?

The largest six point (eastern) I have seen. Not sure if this is bad genetics or if another year or two will do him wonders. I am guessing he is 3. He may get a pass if I am lucky enough to run into him.... we shall see.

BlkDog, you might wanna take him out of the breeding pool unless you want more like him. :readit:
Here's "Should have been" again. Got him last night at a different location. About a 1/4 mile from the last pics of him.
Another pic from last night. He is pretty nocturnal, last year he only came out to play in daylight during the peak of the rut.
More nice deer guys!! :bigsmyl:
Chris, You are correct that I might need to get him out of the pool. However, I can't help to wonder what may come about if he breeds with a doe carrying good genes. His height and width, crossed with a good frame (maybe in the does genes) might produce something special. I can't help but wonder because the buck only plays half the part in the genetic make up.
Nice buck Bowmac!
While looking at some old pics, I stumbled across one of my favorites from a year or two ago. If I happen across this guy again he should be easy to spot. Probably still blinking and running into trees...

is that a black squirrel?
HEY BIGGIE.........Referring to page 8......That's a racoonavalina leopard skwirl. Either that or a coon raped a Civet Cat. Looks like he just ate the legs right out from under a deer.

Yes that's a black squirrel. We have quite a few of them here in Tioga and Potter Counties.
We have some near us to. From what I heard they came from columbia and kind of took off. But don't quote me on that
Here are a few more from my new camera.

It's a homebrew made by a guy downstate. The camera itself is a P31 Sony.

Kev, can I come hunt with you? I just want to see a bear in the woods, don't care if I shoot anything at all!
You can trust me, I'll let that big buck go for you to shoot! :bigsmyl:
Sure you can come hunt. Pa has a 3 day archery bear season this year in case you might be interested. In all probability, I'll be in NY chasing rutting whitetails at that time, but I could surely set you up on a bear or 3:)
This here is the bad boy that I'm looking for. Last we seen him was early March. No pictures since and no sightings. But I know he's there..... :)

Biggie, looks like your camera needs the clock reset, that doesn't look like 4pm to me!
Nice deer.
Dan
yeah that's the only thing I hate about the cuddeback...everytime I open the cover the batteries pop loose. I just don't bother to reset it everytime.
Joey, Joey, Joey...my goodness bud....those are some DANDIES!!!!!
Dang Chad...that one sticking his tongue out at you looks like a "big boy"...his partner ain't bad either......not too many like those two running around here.....
You're right Biggie, he'll be a real nice one next year.....I love the wrinkles/skin bunching on the back of the shoulder/neck junction.....more taxidermist should try to duplicate that.......love the summer/winter transition cape too....
Awesome pix guys....I'm gonna have to put my old 35mm homebrew out.......
Hey Curt...looks like we may have an opening for osceolas this spring...Joey is ignoring me...
Biggie you know you and Marty are both welcome anytime...... but we kind of like to hunt past 8am and also we don't run dogs and additionally well we just don't eat Pot Roast every meal and most of the time we only shoot big bucks not those milk breath ones Marty shoots and lastly ya'll will have to bring your feeder recorder to feel at home becasue we don't have any feeders....but other than that , ya'll will fit in perfectly......and yes tell Gene and Barry we do have cell coverage......signed your protege' JoeBuck...after this year i'm changing it to JoeBigBuck
PS ..Biggie , Curts a real turkey bowhunter..he likes to set up and call and stuff...buggy riding would get old for him.
Biggie you're going to have to reprogram that camera. It doesn't know the difference between a typical and non-typical. Hap
Biggie and Marty here's ya'lls deer...I keep ya'll posted of his where abouts. I'll set up adjoining stands like always so ya'll can share coffee canister.

joebuck, I'd like to shoot a buck like that!, where in missisippi do you hunt?
LMAO.....Ian, last season, my father was showing some game pics to another hunter at our camp, when the other hunter came across a pic of a nice 9pt and perked up and asked "where was this pick taken", my father answered quickly.....Deep in the forest !!
Wow Joey that's a great buck! Here's some pics I pulled off of mine today. :( No bucks, but still some tasty does

Man, I love those elk pics!!! Of course, nuttin wrong with any of em, keep em comin!!! I'll be checkin mine tomorrow!
The pic that Biggie took near the gut pile looks to be a cross between a civet & a coatimundi . It does not appear to native to Oregon perhaps a exotic pet someone turned loose . If I wuz to guess it looks to originate from Central or South America . Could somebody prove me wrong or right on this ?
P.S. It could be a new subspecies nobody has discovered till now ...
Sorry a day late & a buck short .
Curt, If that one comes in and sticks his tongue out at me on opening day, i'm gonna introduce him to Mr. Snuffer!

Dang Joebuck
What is that like 24-26" ?
Geno, i don't know but he's only come by that camera 1 time.
I pulled my cards today after a week..and basically got the same 6-8 bucks...so I won't bore you with them... However Droptine is getting braver...he might not be club legal yet unless he's 18" spread or 24" main beam...what do ya'll think?
That left beam, would be very close,,
I'd ground check him! I've seem some fully mature deer that didn't meet those standards. By letting mature deer that don't make the cut live, I would think you would be promoting the spread of inferior genetics.
Wsm, that is a negative on the inferior genetics idea. The buck had the same genes the day he hatched as he does the day he is passed up.
I do think that any spread criteria (measure of space) should not be used to age a buck. The beam length is a good indicator of age and quality and should be used.
If it takes a hunter more than 5 miliseconds to decide if a buck is a shooter, pass him.
These brothers use this trail alot leaving this bean field every morning....maybe I can put 2 and 2 together and get 8 that would equal 145!

I'm pretty sure this is a new one...taken in front of a good persimmon tree.

Here's the wildest beastie in my neck of the woods. Note the careful scent management. Since I was mowing the hayfield nearby, hopefully the stoogie won't spook'em too bad. Of course the landowner give me that one, so they are probably used to it.

Richie, I agree 100% that a deer has the same genetic potential the day he's born as he does when he's mature. I don't believe the a deer with a narrow spread or fairly short beams is inferior. What I have seen and do believe is that some bucks just won't ever have big, wide, high scoring racks. And from a managment standpoint, once a deer reaches about 4.5 years if he isn't showing the kind of antler characteristics your looking for...take him out. I think it's silly to place an obviously mature buck off limits because he's not 18" wide or has 24" beams, he may never meet those standards. What do you do, let him die of old age? I know that one buck can only father so many fawns in a lifetime and it's not likely that any one deer is going to alter the gene pool, but if you want the best, get rid of the worst.
Of course, this is just an opinion and not meant to be taken in offense. :D
these pics really make me wish I had a trail cam.
Man Kenny, I'd love to see a pic of you with that buck! :scared:
Guru, I figured you'd like my buddy's Texas ranch deer pic..PROTEIN Pellets + AGE!
WSM Coyote.. if a buck lives at our club past 5-6 years and doesn't have at least have a 24" main beam lenght...his antler growing genes were dramatically sub-par versus the rest of the field. It would be rare to have one surpass that criteria. Fortunately we have the big 3 ingredients. we can shoot a buck regardless of rack if he is 5.5 years or older...
Me too Curt!! Hell,I'd just like to see him in person once!
Joey,ya got way too many big bucks to watch over,if ya ever wanna hire a helper............
My six year old girl overheard me tell a friend
about the pictures of "monster" bucks on this site, and was she ever dissappointed to find that they were just bucks with big antlers. "No fangs,
or claws, or mean eyes, or nothing", "just big horns".
I had to smile at that.
Joebuck, Ever get a shot at any of those fine older gentleman on your lease?
Bonebuster,if one ever comes by me,he prolly might as well have fangs, claws, mean eyes and the works!!LOL
Heres another of my neighbors big boy.....note the double main!!
Oops,double post!
Coyote,
Certainly no offense taken...I have always balked at the spread criteria as an age indicator. However if a property has been tightly and intensively managed for buck numbers then I would harvest that buck you speak of. ONLY because at that point in the management program (high buck numbers) there must be a harvest of male deer of some kind. A mandatory buck harvest is due mainly to prevent high stress levels and heart attacks in the landowners who walk around in late winter and are shocked at how many dead mature trophy bucks they find as a result of rut stress.
Also, The chances that a narrow antlered 6-8 point sires a narrow antlered 6-8 point are not real good. The doe has a lot to say in this matter. At the deer research pens at Auburn a research project proved that the maternal influence has as much or more to do with antler growth and characteristics as does the paternal influence. The results were really amazing. I remember a buck named Henry that was a real massive 8 point with a 10 inch spread. His sire looked nothing like him a few years later. Above average width and average mass.
Again, IF and only IF a buck harvest is in order to keep male deer numbers in check then I certainly would not harvest the 3-4 year old symmetrical 10 frame buck. It would be the older bucks regardless of antler quality.
He is ripe for the pickin.
Marty, I don't because I'm usually at the Ole Miss game drinking mint julips! Yeah,I had a couple of shots last year but nothing as dramatic to inspire a PBS article about the "nick" or i didn't cry or anything like someone else I know
I had something in my eye, or maybe it was the dirt that Booner kicked up as he ran away from me! I really hope you score this year, cause Ole Miss probably won't. Pick a spot like you did on that last Osceola!
:notworthy:
It's hard to tell how Ole Miss will turn out this year...We have nice tall group of Dallas blonds that hit campus recently plus our MS Delta girls arrived in shape and tanned out from a long summer at their parents condos in Fl. And we heard that Atlanta has sent their rowdiest freshman girls over here again trying to get in a good sororiety because they can't get in Ga..So overall I think Ole Miss will again be #1 or 2 or 3 with Fla and SMU
The largest buck coming around so far:

I took my wife fishing this past weekend down a 4wd beach trip for about 40 miles. Every time I've ever been down there the coyotes have been thick and unafraid. Even had one tug on my blanket one night as I slept on the beach. That's another story.
I decided I take my trail cam along and bait a few coyotes with unwanted fish parts while we night fished. Here's the flash-burned coyote. The ocean spray fogged up my lense and messed up the photos but here's one of the culprits I managed to get. CK

Someone say "PORK"!!!! I will be looking for this one in two weeks.
Pick a spot,Ben,pick a spot!!
Hey Marty, whats up with that flash? Man I would close my eyes too..or is that buck white?
Hey Warrior, I hope you're on a place where you canwatch that buck grow. 2-3 years from now. he'll be outstanding!
Notice Marty's bucks are hard horned? They rut the 1st week of Sept!
Here's a couple of pictures sent to me by a friend in So. Texas. At least we can be sure the feeder is still working and that we'll have plenty of water this year!

This is the biggest buck I have seen in my area ever in PA live on the hoof. I know there are bigger ones in the Western part of the state and in many other states but does anybody know about what he would score?
Same deer...couple more pictures for you guys and gals...

135-140 inches
I ain't no deer expert, but I say he'll beat 150  good 10 pt with good tine length and looks to be long mains
(http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/kennym/August_11_2007174pennbuckLargeWebvi.jpg)
Shoot him no matter what he scores....
130's...
130ish. Shoot him :goldtooth:
Mid 130`s. Don`t forget to PICK A SPOT.
Heres what I was comparin to,he grossed 160+
(http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/kennym/100_0896LargeWebview.jpg)
low 140's
The only thing that buck is lacking is a lil mass. He should gross around 153-156.
Wow them some great looking deer.<><
He will beat the 145 mark pretty easy. 155 might be too high. Thats what I think. Either way I would say he is a good one.
150 or there abouts. No matter what he scores shoot him!!! If you get the chance. Good luck chasing him.
Don't forget to account for the 30% ground shrinkage.
Thanks guys...I don't see these kind of deer on the hoof where I hunt so I had no idea what he would score. I'll post a picture when I bag him...ha :biglaugh:
This little guy should look pretty interesting in a few years. Notice his left side..
..and my regular backyard quests continue to make daily appearances. Not camera shy either. A 128MB card lasts about 2-3 days on average. Looks like the right one has nice bases but it's a shame he is lacking in tine length.
BlkDog,those are some crisp lookin pics, what kind of camera are ya usin?
And is that a buck or your target in the last pic in the background?
Kenny, That is a homemade game cam using a Sony DSC-P41 4mp digital. It has really turned out to be a great camera. That's my target in the background. I have a feeling it may turn into a sparring partner in the next month or two. I have 5-6 regular bucks making an appearance almost daily right now.

And his 9 pt. buddy. I know where I'll be next saturday am for opening!!
Good lookin deer MARTY,when does the rut kick in down there? That stick made me think ya ripped your pics in half! LOL
Marty, That is one beautiful florida deer!!!
And you don't have to climb any mountains to get at him! Excellent Fl. buck!
Our rut is ready to kick in any time. That blows the shorter day, colder weather theory. I have ratttled in bucks on opening weekend many times!By the way, those are 2 different bucks.

Here`s a few pictures from a new camera I bought. It`s the first trailcam for me.Took pictures of the house deer first to make sure it worked, then took these on a ranch I hunt. We seen the big buck last year right up till season started then he moved next door to the old ladys place that does`nt allow hunting. You better know it kennym!. Those soybeans are 5'5" tall in front of our club house. That particular food plot is 3 acres..they will have it mowed down by february.
What will this 9 point score?

I need to get some cameras set up and see what I have around. I would love to shoot just about any of the bucks you guys have pictures of.
Joey, I say 131.5 inches
Based off of a 7" ear ..I say ...gross 142 ..with 18" spread and 5 " bases...........hopefully I'll get to tape in 2 weeks!
Nerksa, that's hilarious!!
Joey, I'd say you're right on bud...good luck!
Shoot'em and let us know for sure.

I use Cuddeback cameras, they have a screw hole thru the back. I use a 3" torx head screw to attach it to the tree. Then put a small padlock on the outside of the case...Keeps the honest thief at bay, so far!!!
These 3 pictures were all from our Western Wisconsin lease... That ain't no coyote!
