Title: Home Made Crown Dip Measuring Jig
Post by: Jack Guard on July 14, 2007, 04:34:00 PM
Man.... that title is a mouth full.

I got this idea one night laying in bed when i was frustrated after marking my shafts for the crown dip.  Funny thing is that after making this one, there is a piture of one like it in Traditional Bowerys Bible III.

I made the jig wide enough to accomodate 13 arrows.  the sides are an inch wide  and i drilled a hole in the end to hang it on the wall.

This one is made of scrap MDF and is glued together.

The piece in the middle is one inch wide and is made of a scrap piece of aluminium,  i bent right angles on the ends so it would slide along the outter rails of the jig.

I  put a poly finish on the jig hoping it would make it tougher.

Something i havent done yet is put measurement marks on the rails.

Lemme know what you guys think or if any of you have improvements.

Thanks for the comments guys !!!

Shaft Slinger... I have attached two links with a description of the marble dipping process.  one is mine and was a quickie I typed up.  The first link is a better description.

Basically, I float thinned testors or bohning paint in water.  Dip the shaft as usual, over a base color.
