My son is in town visiting me from Oklahoma for the summer. I was lucky enough to have him during his birthday and this is what we came up with for his present. Specs: 64" 45# 28". The limbs are bacote and purpleheart, the riser is kingswood and purpleheart with maple accents. The handle overlays are maple and bacote while the tip overlay is made of red phenolic, maple and purpleheart. We have done this project from the start together. Not only is he learning to build his own bow but I have been having the time of my life spending this time with him. I now know why I was put on this earth. I hope you enjoy the pictures as we build the bow.

You are a good dad!
Very Nice, ya can be proud of yourself and your boy!!!! Shawn
This'll be a birthday you'll both cherish forever. What a great way to spend real quality time together. And look at you, Bill! Wasn't that long ago when you were learning solid block risers and simple overlays. Now it's flared risers with contrasting woods, fancy overlays AND spliced limbs! You're making great strides in your bowbuilding. Congratulations! Mike
you're a blessed man with a lucky son, enjoy each sweet moment, they grow up so fast, mine is 9000 miles away now.
I know how cool this is for ya .... :) :wavey:  :goldtooth:

Well it's done! We did it together and I have to say it's the nicest one yet!!!! Thanks for all the well wishes.
Bill
I want to say thanks for all the birthday well wishes myself. I've had a great time helping my Dad on my bow. I have learned a ton about wood work and how a bow works. He has showed me how to shoot it and what it means to own a bow. I will promise him and you to do my best to keep bow hunted alive in my heart and my brothers. I live in Okalhoma and was wondering if there is anybody in the Oklahoma city area that would like to shoot with me and maybe help with my progress? My Dad is the best but he lives in Arizona and he said to ask on here because there are so many nice and helpful people on this site. If anybody is interested please cantact my dad with a PM and he will tell me.
Thx Collin

Very nice indeed, how long did it take from start to finish? That is a huge smile which is what it's all about.

I have a full time job driving a truck back and forth from Phoenix to Albuquerque so about two weeks. Collin did all the sanding of the lams and after I did the shaping he did all the sanding of the riser and limbs. It's hands down the best bow I ever built.
Thx Bill
