Title: Ordered A New Marriah Thermal
Post by: WildmanSC on July 11, 2007, 02:43:00 PM
I've been searching for a used Marriah Thermal for a few days.  However, they are as rare as hens teeth in the used Trad Classifieds.

So, I decided I could get precisely what I wanted by ordering one from Ric.  I ordered a 60", 47-50#@28", Thai Rosewood with Bocote accents riser and Walnut limbs.  I don't care how long it takes for me to get it, I'll have it when I get it and it'll be what I want.

I'm leaving it up to Ric's artisanship as to how the bow is built and the accents put in place.  I KNOW I'll be pleased!  I previously had a Thermal that I bought new, I sold/traded it, bought it back and then sold/traded it again.  It was 53#@28" and was a bit over my shoulder carrying capacity.  I'm going to try to get Ric to bring it in at 47-48#.

Claudia,

That is precisely what I thought.  I have enough toys to play with until it is built.  And with my history, there's a pretty good chance I'll go through more toys.    ;)    :D

My shoulder couldn't handle 53#@28", so I know what it would say about 70#@28"!  Thanks for the thought though!    :D

I saw that one coming! Is the wait still around a year. I got one last August (bocote w/ebony accents). Awesome piece of work-took me a while to get used to the grip, but it's shooting great now and I may order another at some point.

Remember the man laws around here Bill-we need to see pics when you get it!

BCD,

Don't worry, I'll post pics when it arrives.  I'll be calling Ric later tonight and talking to him about lead time.

Mike,

I just got out of 60 days of rehab, but I've slidden down the slippery slope again!  It'll probably be a year or so before I get the Thermal, but I'm willing to wait!

Congrats,
I have a Thermal due by hunting season and I can't wait. I have several bows and I made the mistake of letting my brother inlaw get into traditional archery by shooting my Thermal. I was forced into ording another one because I had to listen to my sister tell me over and over again "You have like 10 bows why can't he use that one". Ric builds the "Best" recurve at any price and for what he charges you almost have to consider his bows somewhat of a gift. My new Thermal will be 58" 55@28 Wenge and Zebra riser with flatgrain Zebra limbs. I know it will be absolutley stunning to say the least.

I am blessed to have two Thermal's with three sets of limbs total and I have to agree with Jake.  Ric builds a bow that is not only an amazing value and surprising performer, but is indeed a stunning work of art.  Whatever the wait...it's more than worth it.

I've HAD two Thermal's, but I let both of them get out of my hands.  I in fact let the second get out of my hands twice!  The first Thermal I had was Pinecone's at one time.  I should not have let that one go.  It was the perfect draw weight for me and was a great shooting bow!

Oh, well, now I've got one on order and hopefully will receive it in time for the 2008 hunting season.  I just put the order with the deposit in Priority Mail to Ric during lunch.

And ya'll are dead-on about the tremendous value, outstanding artistry and phenomenal shooting qualities of Ric's bows.  I haven't shot anything but the two Thermal's, but I have no doubt the other models of Marriahs are just as great in value, looks and performance, relatively speaking, as the Thermal.
