Title: Damascus Gloves
Post by: eagle24 on July 10, 2007, 05:03:00 PM
I have two Damascus gloves that are a few years old that I love.  I have purchased three more and they are totally different material.  Two are really thin and the other is thicker but in just a few days I wore a hole through one of the fingers.  Anyone else experienced this inconsistency in materials with the Damascus gloves?

Is the grizzly a thick glove?  I like a thin glove that I can feel the string with, but a couple of the newer Damascus gloves I bought were super thin.

the grizzly isnt thick..but it is not as thin as the damascus.. i would say it is right in between.. the tips on the glove have a real nice material that allows for a real nice slick release.. but you still feel the string nicely.. you can view a picture on braveheart archery site..check the sponsor list.. Tim carries quality stuff and has great service and shipping.. my hand size is right between a medium and a large..so i opted for the medium.. it has stretched a bit and now fits perfectly.. i like this glove so much im thinking of buying a couple more in case they ever decide to discontinue.... look under grizzly leathers on the braveheart archery site...

e24,

I'm shooting some Damascus that I added some more leather inside cuz they were too thin for me.  I recently tried the 3 Rivers Duraglove.  Good feel and really slick, but thinner than I like.  Since you like thin, I think you'd like the feel and release and should hold up longer than the Damascus.  Give em a try.  I'd sell you mine, but it's already got a new owner.  Have a Big Shot on the way.  Steve

I've always liked the thin damascus gloves as well, mostly because the thinner material would'nt "groove", and I could feel the string better.  I found that by using tie-on nocks (dental floss) I got a lot more longevity out of my damascus gloves.   I just purchased one of 3-rivers dura-gloves to try, and must say  it  gives a real smooth release with the cordura finger tips.   It should'nt "groove" either, at least that's what they say.   The leather is a bit thicker than I like, but I'm gonna give it a good go anyway.

i wore a hole through mine, but id had it a while, and i believe it was because my fingernail rubbed right there...

its a $13 glove, what do you expect?  ill eventually buy a good glove, either that or shoot barefinger, im working my fingers up to that....

Greg,
I just ordered one each of a Super Glove with cordovan tips and the 3 Rivers exclusive glove with the Kevlar tips. I will shoot and report back on which one works for me. If I do not seem to like either of them that well I will try the Grizzly mentioned above.

Yea I can go through a couple damascus gloves in a year.  Now I just use the damascus glove for hunting.  I use a BlackWidow 3 under tab for all my target shooting.
