Guys and gals, Hunting seasons are right around the corner and if you're looking for "top shelf" hunting clothing that's well made, using cutting edge materials then have a look at the Sitka Mountain Gear website. There's a link in the sponsors list.
I know you'll be very impressed with what you read and will be even more impressed when you receive and wear the product!
Camo patterns are two of the best, A.S.A.T (all season, all terrain)and another very effective pattern...Mountain Mimicry.
Have a look...it's time to order for the upcoming season!!!
Curt, I used several pieces of this gear on a recent hunt and was very impressed. I can't wait to use it this fall. The comfort range is hard to believe.
Wecome to Tradgang Sitka Gear and thanks for your support
used the pants on a texas hog hunt and the material is very tough and stood up to the texas bush. i give it   for durability and the camo patterns are great as well. glad they have joined in here on Trad Gang. just hope the customer service kicks it up a notch. i tried to contact them via email and didn't get a response.
That Mountain Mimicry pattern sure looks good to me. Can't wait to try it out this fall.
Welcome to Trad Gang, Sitka Gear!
Darryl
This is my first year as a dealer and I couldn't be more impressed. I think the downpour pants and jacket will be perfect for early archery this fall up here in northern Idaho. I'm looking foreword to giving them a workout, and should probably put a set aside for my self. :archer:
Scott
I spoke with Scott(Sagecreek Outfitters)who also happens to be a TradGang sponsor, about Sitka Gear in May. I'll be ordreing from him shortly. If your concerned about customer service look no further than Scott and Sagecreek Outfitters. They are first class in every way.
Couldn't have come at a better time...I was planning to buy this year and to know they support TradGang makes my purchase all the easier!
Welome aboard Sitka!
I have been waiting to get my hands on this gear since it came out. Held off last year when I heard it was going to be available in ASAT. Won't be able to hold off again!
Hello everyone. Most of you know me but for those who don't, my name is Peter Iacavazzi. I live in Bozeman , Montana and I have been asked by Sitka Gear to become the "Sitka Pro Staff" director. Primarily I will actually be heading up the "traditional/bowhunting" arm of Team Sitka. With that said if anyone has any technical questions about Sitka clothing please feel free to contact me and I will glaldy help in any way I can.
The Sitka clothing truly is remarkable. It is designed to keep you dry from the inside out. Its silver lined for superior scent prevention and it is extremely comfortable. Its designed to be used as a system. It has outstanding weight to warmth ratio. Its unique in its properties and I honestly feel it is by far the most advanced high tech hunting clothing on the market today.
Once again if I can help in any way with questions and/or concerns regarding Sitka please contact me directly.
Thanks, Peter Iacavazzi
Peter, I checked out the website and must say I'm impressed. Gotta get my hands on some of this stuff. If it's anything like advertised, I can pack up all that bulky wool and put it away!
Big Stuff,
Well seeing as you are officially on my Trad Pro Staff, looks like you'll be getting some soon in the 4xl size...damn I hope it fits...Or else I'm putting you on a fitness/diet routine.
Easy on the mayo! Luv ya big guy, Peter
Good Lord...that is all we need; a new avatar pic with Biggie in his Sitka Gear Base Layer
Or just the top of it.. :scared:
Peter-any plans to offer more camo patterns in the future (such as predator)?
Thank you
Brady
How quiet is the rain gear? Seems I have never found any that is quiet...Jeff
Peter, I just purchased a set from Big Sky Archery, and can't wait to give it a try. One thing I like is it's wicking properties and of course the "stretchiness" for those of us with expanding waistlines and such.
Mark,
You are gonna love it!
Have a great season, Peter
BD,
For now Sitka is offered in its original Mothwing and new for 07' ASAT. I know that several other camo companies/patterns have inquired about being added to the Sitka line. I also like the predator pattern, so I guess we'll have to see what develops in the future. I would say that the Mothwing pattern is extremely effective. Hear in Montana it blends perfectly in the timber. I also think it would mesh well in the southern woods and the midwestern landscape.
As far as the "Downpour" suit goes. Please know that no raingear is totally quiet. But the Sitka Downpour suit is not as nosiy as others. I will say that I strongly believe the Sitka Downpour suit is by far the best raingear out there. All who have tried the suit absolutely love it!
Peter
I would love to have a good rainsuit! The downpour suit looks like it would fit the bill. I'll have to look into it. Predator camo would be awesome but the mountain mimicry doesn't look bad at all.
Chad, The Mountain Mimicry is an awesome pattern and is very versatile! Peter disappeared on me several times last year while wearing his, last year on our hunt.
I can't wait to get my clothing.......
Yes, The mountain mimicry works great and in all kinds of terrain. I had the chance last year to hunt and see this camo in person. Mark is right it has a strecthiness to it that makes it so comfortable and it is very soft to the touch making it very quiet also.
I like the Predator camo too but after watching Pete and Curt stalking antelope last year on the Montana plains from dirt fields to sage flats the mountain mimicry worked excellent and blended in with it all.
As Curt said, In the woods you would have to wait for Pete to move sometimes just to know where he was. Awsome clothing and I can't wait to try it.
Tracy
Peter,
Any word on a dealer or dealers North of the border. I emailed Sitka last year and they said no Canadians dealers at that point?
Does any of your delears have plans for attending Denton Hill?
I will check on Canadien dealers for you. As far as Denton Hill goes? Yes, I am working on having a booth set up and manned by one of our Pro staffers. I'll try and keep you posted. Please bear with us. Sitka is really only in our second year and we have literally exploded in popularity. I really believe it is due entirely to the high quality of the product. As we grow so too will our visibility and dealership coverage. I think this is just the "tip" of the iceberg for Sitka. Look for great things from Sitka!!
Thanks, Peter
i must take back what i said about the customer service! Peter has taken care of that. hat's off to you sir and the Sitka Gear product line.
Peter, give me a call bud......
I will add that I'm honored to be a part of the "Traditional Pro Staff" that Peter is heading up. If there's any way I can help someone, don't hesitate to ask......
I got an email last night that my Sitka Gear is in transit. Now I keep looking for the Fedex truck.
Derek
I love it when Mark Baker talks about expanding waistlines
:bigsmyl:
:clapper:
Biggie,
Are you sure 4XL will fit you? I have been working on your new 07' Pete Iacavazzi wrestling/lifting/running/fitness regimin! Uncle Barry just laughs when I tell him I'm gonna whip ya into shape...He says that at your current size there is just that much more of ya to luv!
Peter, I have a question for you that I think more than a few of us would like to know. Lets say you couldn't afford to buy the whole system, which I might add looks great. Which two or three items are must haves to start your Sitka system collection?
Inquiring minds would like to know?
Thanks
Dakota Kid
Thats a great question and one I've been asked frequently. Based on my own personal experience I would say first and foremost the Mountain Pant is a must. Secondly the 90% jacket and for me the Mountain shirt. These 3 items are outstanding.
Understand that the Sitka system really is just that, a complete system designed to keep you dry, and warm without the weight of heavier clothing. With that said you need to decide what type of hunting you'll be doing. Lets say you primarily hunt November tree stands. If thats the case than you'd want to go with the 90% pants and Jacket. Especially in ND!
But if you're more of a spot and stalk September elk and deer hunter than the Mountain pant and Mountain shirt would be perfect. Also consider this. The Sitka clothing that is next to your skin IE: Summit shirt and bottoms, Zip T, etc, all contain ATB-100 silver. I don't want to bash scent blocking type clothing but if you knew the truth you'd be more apt to wear silver impregnated clothing.
So if your wearing a scent blocker type liner you may want to consider going with a silver impregnated lining system instead. But again its a matter of preference and I don't want to trash scent blocking clothing (especially when so many swear by it). But I will just say I don't wear it and I do wear ATB-100 silver lined clothing.
All in all most people eventually buy the whole system. But I understand that for many thats a big chunk of change to lay down at one time. I would strongly suggest that you look into the 90% jacket, Mountain Pants, and Mountain shirt. Than as time goes by you can add a piece here and there.
The Sitka gear products are really that good. I think as you begin to wear them you'll appreciate all that has gone into thier design and function. Jason and Jonathan (the owners and founders) are both hard core, good solid guys who both are avid Traditional bowhunters. They truly understand the demands we as hunters place upon our gear.
In a world where often you get what you pay for I'm certain you'll agree that Sitka is worth the
price.
Please feel free to contact me directly at piacavazzi@sitkagear.com if I can be of any assistance. Good luck!
Peter
TTT so more folks can read Pete's last post......
Thanks Guruuuuuuuuuu
Tippit,
I have spoke to the company in depth and will have the Sitka rain gear SOON so when I film for you you will not be giving me the evil eye like I was giving you when you filmed my bear kill 2 weeks ago :-)
I would like to hear from some of the people out there who have used this stuff. I am mainly interested in stand and still hunting in the cold. Let me know what you think compared to other materials you have used.
Thanks,
Scott
Scott,
I have used the Sitka Gear for 2 seasons now. The clothing is excellent! New for this season 07' is the 90% pant. It is perfect for stand hunting on cold days. In comparison to heavy wool pants the Sitka 90% pants easily outperforms. It is highly wind resistant and water resistant. It has a microfleece liner which allows it to be worn next to the skin. When combined with the Timberline expedition bottoms (which contains the ATB-100 Silver impregnated fabric)this 2 part system is highly functional, comfortable and above all very warm even when remaining still for extended periods of time during freezing temps. The 2 way stretch fabric allows fro freedom of movement which actually makes the pants "safer" for climbing up and down the tree. While the 90% pant provides the warmth and comfort of a much heavier wool and/or synthetic pant it's lack of bulk and freedom of movement makes it a better fit for manuvering in a tight tree. Combined with the 90% jacket and you have a lighter, more comfortable clothing system that still maintains optimal warmth.
I know this sounds like a sales pitch. I assure you it is not. The Sitka Gear clothing system is by far the most advanced most technilogically inspired hunting clothing today. I have spent two years putting this clothing to the test. And believe me Motana is one heck of a testing ground!Sitka Gear clothing continues to impress me and my many friends who are now wearing the clothing.
Please feel free to contact me at piacavazzi@sitkagear.com and I will glaldy answer any additional questions you may have.
Good luck, Peter
My wallet just started twitching!!! :D
"Down Boy, Down!"
I may be glad I've held off on the high-end wool and continued to "get-by" on the old stand-by's the last few years. My interest is piqued. Better stop by and have another look at this stuff one of these days.
Hey Pete...aint we about the same size. ;)
I wore a pair of the mountaim pants last fall/winter. I used them on an elk hunt in CO. and around OK hunting whitetails. They got a good workout,(many days).I was impressed.Only complaint was while walking through briars they snag and the thread pulls out of the fabric.I love the stretch and how fast it dries out.I plan on getting more of it after I used it.
Peter,
I was dissapointed in the Down pour rain gear when I tried it on at Big Sky Archery. The pants are too short in length and the sleeve length on the jacket was way too short for me as well. ( I wear a 34/34 pant typically, and a large jacket) Even the XL size down pour jacket wasn't long enough in the sleeve length for me. The cut is definately fuller around the mid section. The 90% jacket fit great because of the mountaineering cut. The basic rain gear cut didn't work for me. Hopefully Sitka will offer more options in pant/sleeve length in the future.
Krems
Randy: Same Size? We'll have to see. Give me a call and lets go kill some stumps this summer.
Preston: Glad to hear you like the Sitka clothing. I'm sorry to hear about the threads coming apart. Sitka is an excellent company and I'm certain if you'd send the pants back they would glaldy repair them. I know that Jason and Jonathan stand behind the products! I know that the 07' line is even better than the 06' so I don't imagine that ever being a problem again. Please contact Sitka and let them know and see if there is something that can be done. We are always looking for ways to improve on the product so we need input (both good and bad).
Krems: Sorry to hear about the "fit" problem. I will certainly pass that along to Sitka. Sitka prides itself on it's comfortablity and ease of use. I am glad you like the 90% jacket! I really love mine. Please remember that Sitka is constantly working to improve and to be a leader. Good luck to ya!

I find it hard to believe that the sitka clothing is going to be warmer than wool for sitting in cold weather for long periods of time. i hope it is because I will eventually buy some. Has anyone hunted in 20 degrees or less from treestands with this stuff or is it really made for hunters on the move or warmer temps such as in the 30's?
BD
BD,
The orginal Sitka system was more suited for the stop and go type of western stiil hunting and stalking. However the new 07' line has now been enhanced to accomodate the midwestern and nothern and eastern tree stand hunter. I have personally used the Sitka System with the addition of the 90% pants and Jacket in temps less than 20 degrees. I found that with a good warm pair of pac boots and a warm balaclava and wool ski hat I was very warm and comfortable while sitting in below freezing temps with the Sitka System. What I really found to be beneficial was the fact that I stayed as warm as if I were wearing my wool clothing (which I also love) but with much less bulk and restriction of movement. I won't deny the great warmth of heavy quality wool clothing. I will say that the Sitka 90% system combined with a quality warm boot and hat is certainly comparable without the additional weight and bulk.
Best, Peter Iacavazzi
"I will say that the Sitka 90% system combined with a quality warm boot and hat is certainly comparable without the weight and bulk".....That's the key to this line of clothing.
Add the fact that it sheds water very well, dries in a fraction of the time, AND(this is a big one for us treestand Whitetailers) you can wash it to keep it as clean as possible and scent to a minimum.
If you use the System, from the inside out,I don't see how it wouldn't be as warm or warmer than anything on the market right now.
I'm excited about that possibility. Although I have a bunch of the high dollar wool. I'm so bound up sometimes it's hard to move. And if you've ever tried to s l i d e across a pine tree with wool on, you might as well pull apart a 6' strip of velcro.
Do the 90% pants have an insulating layer or just a moisture/vapor barrier like gortex?
Thanks
CB
Curt: Well said my friend!
Biggie: I love ya buddy...but I have a hard time seeing you slide around a pine tree...But than again I've grown very fond of seeing you in your underpants while standing in the Milk River...so I guess anything is possible!
CB: I hope this will answer your question. "90% pants, no need to lug your heavy wool pants to the top of the mountains anymore. The 90% pant gives you all the warmth of a wool pant without the weight and bulk. The 90% pant outperforms wool by blocking wind, the two way stretch makes for an easy stride and the "DWR" will not allow this pant to hold water. The Bonded Microfleece inside layers allows them to be worn next to the skin without the itch and irritation of wool. This pant can be washed, eliminating odor build up. The highly breathable polyester face makes the 90% pant the perfect piece for stop and go hunting in hostile weather conditions. Zippered pockets, articulated knees and suspender loops put the finishing touches on the 90% pant for "ALL condition hunting".
When you combine the 90% pant with a good insulating layer such as the Sitka Timberline Expedition bottoms or a good insulating undergarment you have a very warm, comfortable and functional outfit.
I hope this helps, Peter Iacavazzi
Hey Peter....any place in Georgia where a guy to "touch and feel" the Sitka products...and try the fit too...
I have this mental picture of Biggie sliding down a 6 inch pine tree!!!!....
Hey Rocky!
I don't know if there are any locations yet in Georgia. I'll try and find out. Otherwise you can always go over to "Biggies" house and he'll glaldy model them for ya...
Peter
Hey Peter, Can they put some extra silver in Biggie's briefs? :)
Thanks allot Peter...and I use to think you were a nice guy!
Denny,
Great idea...But that is alot of silver my friend. I somehow envision "Biggie" becoming the new poster boy for Sitka Gear! I always knew that one day the world would come to know and love the big guy as much as we do...But it took a product that caters to hard charging, hard core, go getting hunters to really unleash the fury known as "BIGGIE". The world may never be the same...
Rocky, come on my friend...are you telling me that you wouldn't enjoy seeing Biggie parading around in a pair of Sitka Briefs?? That is a sight few men may ever know...
Peter
Peter,
Maybe I missed it, in the snippit you posted above it talks about the 90% pants being worn next to the skin, so do these pants have the silver lining as well or is it just the base layer garments that have it.
Thanks,
Shane
Shane, The 90% pants can of course be worn next to the skin, but no, they don't have the ATB-100 Silver.
Like you said, just the base Layers:
Mountain Shirt and Timberline bottoms(expedition wt. base layers)
Summit shirt and bottoms(lightweight base layer)
Summit Zip-T(mid wt. base)
Timberline Hat and gloves....and the Summit boxers
All these have the ATB-100 Silver impregnation
Guys,
I just got back from a month of hunting Bighorn Sheep in Colorado. I have NEVER been so comfortable in the field. The Sitka Base Layer works like nothing I have ever tried. Climbing up mountain after mountain, I never got hot or cold. I did sweat a ton, but always felt just right. I have tried just about every base layer there is from Under Armor to Wool and I am incredibly impressed with the SG. All the other pieces worked great, I believe the Mountain Pants are my favorite, but the base layer would be the first thing on my list if I ws going to be doing any hunting with any activity. Looking forward to testing it out sitting my keester in a treestand...
I sell this at my store...anti microbiable , locks this scent in germs out, articulation( moves 4 ways)just were ya need it , in the elbow and Knees of the pants . I stuck the jacket under the slink at work for 3 hours no water went throught the jacket , long sleeve mock shirt , vest , LS under shirt, longjohns, light weight and 90 weight pant , great against abrasion, pockets on the sides so ur back pack straps arent in the way...#1....NOW JUST MAKE SOME BIG BOY SIZES...it seems to run a size smaller ...this is the real deal!!! Marco#78..ATBS sliver was orginaly built for the military for when soldiers got wounded , keeping germs out...great stuff....
Where can I buy Sitka Mountain Gear in Canada?
I want the 90% Jacket (and possibly the 90% Pant) in ASAT. I know Shewchuk Outdoor Supply is listed as an ASAT dealer in Saskatchewan, but Deryk just emailed a reply saying he wouldn't be getting any Sitka gear anytime soon. :(
