Added a new toy to the backyard range yesterday! Some teenage boys I occasionaly drop off at a local river so they can fish had been telling me about this deer target that was sticking in a brushpile for a couple weeks now. I figured someone had dumped off an old shot up target so hadn't thought much about it. Well when I dropped them off yesterday to fish they talked me into wandering down the lane to see this deer target. This is what I found!

Thats a glendale full rut target! Of course it took me about 10 minutes of sorting through a brushpile to find all the pieces! I was suprised this thing has been shot very little and with the exception of the ears and antlers is in excellent shape! That gives me 4 targets in the backyard now with only $8 invested! A foam target I made from closed cell foam I got from dumster diving at work $0. A bag target made of a burlap bag stuffed with water softner plastic bags $1.00 (cost of the burlap bag at a yard sale). And a sand bag target that was given to me that is stuffed with plastic bags. And 2 bales of straw I picked up for $7.00 as a backstop on the smaller bag target! Not bad for the investment!

Why can't lady luck smile like that when I'm hunting!
SOOOO that's where my target ended up after that twister came threw!!?? Good deal nice range too. Lots of good things to shoot at>>>--->
Man some guys just have all the luck. Great find man. I might just have to start paying closer attention to those bush piles.
I wander if the Game Mgt. might have put it there to catch poachers, LOL!!! ;)
I've seen them 3D targets in feilds and roadsides before.
nice range, and the price is right :bigsmyl:
So not fair.
hey good find
How come they're all the same range ? :) ;)
Nice find ! (I'm jealous)
Gordy,
Thats an easy one to answer, I keep them out there so it makes the mowing easy! I figure it's much easier to move myself around then targets!
you luck SOB! i wish i could find one like that!
only target ive found was on the bank of a dry creek, and it was only the midsection. it was apparently a good target in its time, only the good ones have the whole replcement midsection...
but thats the only thing you need to be shooting at right?
One mans junk is another mans treasure.
I'll bet there is a story about how it got down there.
:bigsmyl: Great story! Thanks. the other year at B'more trad shoot, it rained so heavy that their brand new "gator" target washed off the sandbar and disappeared. One club member reportedly walked the creek all the way to the Gunpowder river to never find it... we had some chuckles imagining that gator head surfacing besides some hapless canoer or tupper ware boater. :)
In upstate NY, a buddy found a huge styrofoam block floatin in backwater... managed to get a near hyrnia but fetched it home. That was one water logged piece of boat dock foam I guess but it made a super target for field pts nad bh's alike! It wouldn't wear out!!!Just had to wipe water off the shafts tween shots... styrofoam kinda created a lot of static and the water would stick till you shot... boof!
I'd treat those teenagers to a large burger & the trimmings & ask them too keep their eyes open. Enjoy! Frank
