Anyone here ever have a wooden bow film dipped for camo?
I'm bored. Might take an ugly bow and have it done just for kicks.
Anyone ever do it? Where and how much $$?
Ott,
I had by recurve done almost 7 years ago.
It turned out great. Back then it cost me $85.00 + tax , shipping etc. I had it done down in Roanoke, VA at Trebark's Second Skin Camo. 800.843.2266 www.trebark.com. (http://www.trebark.com.)
I have a Blackwidow that was done from the factory. Tough finish, great looking bow. Get lots of looks when we go out. ~Rick
I got an estimate from Gander Mt. of $100 for a bolt-action rifle stock
I would think it would be about the same for a bow
I have 2 of them that 4Nolz made for me.
Lakota industries is in Xenia and does film dipping. My friend had his metal riser done in some type of wood burl. It looks really cool. Its not cheap. I would call him for pricing
I don't know anything about this stuff but would it affect the performance any?
Gonna dip one of them Widders? :)
John
Actually thinking of dipping my huntin bow, it's a plain Jane Black Widow SA III.
I appreciate the info guys. Does the finish seem to be pretty tuff? Of course, why do I care? It's a huntin bow. It gets dropped in the crick at least 2 times every season.

Nolz or Mickey,
Does the increased draw weight result in faster arrow flight or do you think the limb recovery speed would be a little slower and negate the increased draw weight? I'm sure that I didn't phrase that question properly, but hope it makes sense. I've got an old Wing T-Bird that I'd like to have film dipped as long as it would not negatively affect performance.
Nolz, did you do the film dip yourself? If so, how about a tutorial.
I've had several items.....limbs, risers, accessories, etc. dipped by H2O imaging in Illinois...Jon and Co. are good folks, priced right, and they are licensed for Predator. And I have never experienced, nor even heard of, the film affecting draw weight of limbs....jeepers, you know how thick that stuff would have to be for that to happen? Sounds to me like a totally different process than what I have seen or else something was not done right.

I just sent a new ACS-CX, that I haven't even held in my hands yet, to VC Finishes of Michigan for a Predator camo dip. Sent direct from A & H Archery to the dipping company...
No noticable poundage increase on my bow. Nor any notice in shooting characteristics. Its pretty tuff stuff. Its the same stuff that is on most compounds these days. Of course the new bows will probably be a litte more durable since they dont have multiple coats of finish underneath.
I have a acs cx dipped in predator for about 6 months cannot tell the dip is even on it..If someone can post a picture for me I will send it..thanks Scott
sticbow
email it to me and I'll post it.
on the way just came home from work..
Here's the picture of Sticbows ACS dipped in predator camo. Very cool looking.

Wow! That is impressive stuff! That looks great! If you would, please pm me the company's info.
Thanks - Doug
I'll second lakota industries in xenia. I've never had anything dipped, but I've seen their work first hand and it's great. I don't know their prices either, but I'd give them a call. Dick's a great guy. He is also one heck of a primitive/traditional bowyer. Got me started in this sport. He really knows his stuff. I'm sure he could answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Ps. I'm not associated with his business in any way, I've just known him for a long time and know he's a stand-up guy.
Hope this helps.
IT's H20 they are on predators web site...if you have someone else dip your bow ask them if it is a screen type dip some companys use a rubber like coating that you don't want on your limbs..
another company that does a great job also {but not lic for predator} is tar-jac they did my silvertip with a checkered grip I shot it for about 6 years an the screen never even wore off the checkered points this stuff is very tuff..you should be able to get it done with insurance and shipping for $150.00 or less..
Scott
The stuff on my bows is a rubber like coating I'd say.
