Title: Quiver Question
Post by: DSARGE.308 on July 07, 2007, 10:18:00 PM
I have a leather back quiver I absolutely love. My problem is the arrows rattle, and the fletchings scratch together--all making too much noise. I know alot of folks use these type quivers. Is there any tips to stop this?

Does the quiver flatten in the middle?????

If not, Bend it double,(i.e. do NOT fold/crease it)once you get the quiver to flatten in the middle   ,It should hold your arrows rattle free.

As I said above.....

Empty your quiver of everything (including any pockets)

Take top and bottom of the quiver, and bend it double so the ends touch

Then loosely wrap the shoulder strap around the quiver to hold the ends together

Set it aside for a few days (or more)

Joe Skipp, fellow TradGang member, and good friend taught me that a good back quiver should lay FLAT against your back. This will "squeeze" the arrows together and prevent them from rattling and even from falling out.To demonstrate this he put a half dozen or so arrows in his backquiver, dropped a quarter on the floor, and then bent over (at the waist) and picked it up without a single arrow falling out.

When Joe goes on hunting trips,he "rolls" his quiver up and packs it in his duffle bag.

Hope this helps!!!!! Good Luck!!!!!    :archer:

Yeah just like wood-charles said, should be able to bend over and pick up an arrow at yer feet without losing any from your quiver if its set up right. Lotta folks make em from leather thats too thick and they won't flatten well. You also need to wear the strap tight enough that the quiver stays where you want it. Keeping the strap tight will also help make the quiver collapse when you bend yer back to stoop down. They work very well when they are set up right.

Grab a handfull of grass and stuff it down the quiver. (dry works best.)
