Why no spine charts for heavy heads? Like from 150gr to 300gr. I just see alot of guys guessing on there arrow setups aluminum and carbons me included, because there are no charts for us that use heavy braodheads.
Because the trend has been for lighter heads in the compound world and it takes time, thus money to create such charts and there isn't enough of a return in the arrow manufacturers eyes to justify the expense.
It is not really a guessing game though. If ya use some common sense, ya can get darn close on what heads ya need. Shawn
No offence Shawn, but for me close is only good in horseshoes and hand grenades, my arrows must fly perfect or I'm not releasing on a live animal,in my opinion there's just to many variables in trad set-ups to have a chart, because there's just no way they can shoot what I shoot the way I shoot it, I got my hunting setup done yesterday, took a whole 20 min. of experimenting
Mine do too, my point is that ya have to experiment, but it is not that difficult to find a starting point if ya use some common sense. Look at his post though, that is what I was addressing. If ya shoot heavy heads ya should know that ya have to increase the spine over what ya would normally shoot, If ya are gonna increase point weight by 100 grains than ya should know ya want at least 10#s or more of spine, but than again what is heavy. I shoot 125 grain heads but use a lot of weight up front with brass inserts and such. Trust me I have seen what is exceptable flight for most guys and I would not be caught dead shooting there set-ups. Davids response was right on. Shawn
You might try OnTarget2 software. It is primarily for wheelie bows, but it does have a setting for recurves. It allows you to look at hundreds of different arrows with some expetation of it actually working for your bow.
Since every bow and every archer is differnt, it is just a starting place. You still have to tune the arrow to you and your bow. I've had pretty good success with it.

It lets you enter point weights up to 400 grains.
Charts can't substitute hands on, ....agree with Shawn, common sense to start and some experimenting, ...and you got game
