I have a nice piece of tulipwood for risers and maybe some limb veneers. For those who have worked with it.is it finicky or check easy? Toxic? Sure is pretty and heavy. Thanks
Having spent lots of time with John McDonald who makes Bigriver Bows, he loves the stuff. It is nice to work with & real pretty for lams & risers. I think it has become his preferred wood, he makes lots of bows with it. He gets it from Blue Heron out of MI
Bigriver said it all. But it stinks when ya cut or sand it. It is kinda easy to work with. But remember I never built a bow just knife handles. I get alot of fancy woods from Kevin at RER. BTW BigRiver you going to Horicon?<><<><
Oh yeah. We have a work day at Neosho Archers on Saturday, but I will be there after noon & staying for the steak fry. We have our shoot on Sunday(bad planning dangit), so I might make it later in the aft then. See you & Shell there?
Mike, That tulipwood is sure going to be a great choice of wood to use in the riser if you decide on it.
Not too sure on workability, I'm just cheering you on to try it and post pics
You bet'cha Brian! The steak dinner and campfire is on :D
BTW...thanks for winning my bison hip quiver and brace last year, it's an honor and I'm humbled :)
(Sorry Mike for hijacking your thread)
Also as for being toxic, I never had to pick my hubby up off the floor yet while working with it in the shop so I would say its safe ;)
Sounding good so far. Now that I sort of know where to go wiyh the new RD bow i am thinkig of a kingwood and tulip riser. What do you thinka build-a-long maybe?
