Title: 250+ grain screw in field points?
Post by: Seeking Trad Deer on June 26, 2007, 02:58:00 PM
Is there anywhere I can buy 275 grain and 300 grain screw in field points for bareshaft tuning purposes?  I can only get up to 260 grains using two washers (all that will fit) and my 250 grain screw in tips on my Beman MFX 400 shafts.

Buy 190 grain glue on points, then use the adapter of choice to get the weight where you want it. 3 Rivers sells both.

3 Rivers sells all three screw in inserts...above is a good idea or just hot melt the 100 gr brass into the 400's....3 Rivers sells them, as well.

I don't think yo can get screw in points over 250 grains.  What you can do is get heavier brass inserts and work your way back up.  This may be the same thing that bjk was saying above.  I just can't ready New York English well  :)

Drill your 260gr points from the side and hammer lead into the hole. I suppose it would get you to 300gr ...

Wouldn't it be eaier to buy 500 spine shafts?

nope...I want the 400 grain shafts to get my arrows to 12 grains per pound of draw weight.  The 500's are too light.

Thanks guys...I will try as you mentioned.  I have the supplies just never figured they would fit perfectly.  I'll glue some up now.
