I sharpen mine with a flat file and finish them up on ceramic sticks, just a few strokes and you will have them popping hairs.

Order the Wheelie Sharpener from Simmons. They are inexpensive but worth every penny, then finish up with crock sticks.

I third the wheelie sharpener.  I asked this same question before turkey season this year and that is the same answer I got.  So I ordered one and now I am a believer.

The wheelie sharpener is the way to go.  Also does a great job on HH bhs and zwickeys too!

Kirk... wide and flat doesn't work well on the Simmons heads because of the extreme concave profile of the blade.

Round or half round works best with that shape or as the guys have stated repeatedly above... the wheelie sharpener.

It very quickly brings the factory edge (without changing anything) to a super sharp edge.
