What kinda flooring is anyone makin lams for glass bows out of? Looked at a lot of stuff online, but can't find any locally. Is it all made like plywood or is there some you could rip lams out of? :knothead:
Thanks,Kenny
Kenny,
I have used vertical laminated bamboo flooring from Floor & Decor. The natural works better because there has been some problems with the tempered. I assume there heating process causes it to be to brittle. I have used very thin pieces of the tempered so that the limbs would not be so light colored. I usually used the boo for core and a darker wood for the veneers.
Thanks Jeff, can ya buy less than a carton there? I'd have to order it and have it shipped, but would have no problem with that if I knew it would work like I think! How hard is it to get a good job grinding it?
Kenny,
I bought just a few pieces the times I got it. They had a box that was all ready open and I talked them into selling me a couple of pieces. The pieces I got I cut the tongue and groove off, then I still had enough material to split it and get two pieces from that.(1 1/2" wide) Then I used a band saw to cut each of these two pieces into three pieces. I then used a drum sander to get all of the finish off and the groves from the bottom off. I end up with three sets of laminates for me. PM or e-mail me your address and I will see if I can get my hand on a couple of pieces to send to you to try.
Thanks again Jeff,PM sent. This is what I love about this gang, you can always count on help!!   :campfire:
