Batman and myself are headed over to Hogdancers to load his stuff. Schuster, Biggie and Marty will meet up with us in Kansas City if my Ford can swim the Mississippi River. We are headed to Nebraska where the turkeys have no clue of the secret weapons we are bringing. I have surrounded myself with a group of characters that are infamous to say the least. Maybe i will rub off on them...........stayed tune....no all all of may make it back!
Good luck guys, I heard tell of this outing. Don't forget to pack the ear plugs!
Good luck boys!
Good luck Joey wish I was going.
Nebraska will never be the same :scared:
Shoot straight boys :archer2:
What a crew! Good luck to you guys! :wavey:
This has all the components to be a real classic...can't wait to hear how it unfolds!
Travis
Was that ear plugs or gas mask? :dunno:
good luck, there everywhere out here
Oh, Joey! :saywhat:
Don't forget what 1 Corinthians says: "Bad company corrupts good character."
Wish I could be with all y'all! Teach those turkeys a lesson (the birds, I mean!)
Go get em, boys!
joebuck, you rubbing off on those other guys :nono: I had a dog that used to do that! Put the wooden hen to good use! I'd say have fun, but it might be better to say, "Don't get arrested".
Very good advice, Mike
Bill
Good luck! Sounds like it ought to be a blast.
:campfire: This should be real good ...
I'll notify the police ;)
No cell or Internet service in them thar woods! Half of us on the way home. This was Joey's hunt so I'll let him tell it, but he's still huntin this afternoon. First time we've been around Batman- he fit in like whip cream on a sundae! Oh yeah the hunt- well, I have never seen so many turkeys in my life, there's a few less than when we got there and a few more that are now extremely nervous. Arrows flew and so did feathers.
:campfire:
We'll be waiting on the story telling.....
That for sure is a "Band of Characters". I sure hope Nick gets the bunk house aired out before we get there. I can't wait to hear the story.
Jack
In hotel room in KC- Biggie just dropped of Matt and I- he told me he hated those drag out threads- so here's a little news. Batman missed a gobbler the first day - then
killed one on day two! He bacame our personal camera man as he chose to not buy another tag. Joey pegged him bad luck- so he tagged along with me! He took my calls after our sit and put them in the freezer cause he said they were so hot from too much calling- tough crowd! These guys were merciless- but I got em all!
Oh boy, this is going to be good. Forget the waders I'm opting for a boat for this thread. Ha ha...
Just found out- Kuiu camo and "Slick Beaver" came through at the last minute- that's the word on the street.
:campfire:
Well Biggie will be disappointed. This thread is dragging. Lol!! :campfire:
tap, tap, tap
None of us are home yet
On the way home. Hogdancer and I scored last minutes , great trip , great friends. Great outfitter!
That last post says it all, Joey!
Glad to hear you guys had a fun safe trip!
What happens in Nebraska, stays in Nebraska.
Except for maybe a tale or two for the gang here.
Good luck boys!
:campfire: :archer2:
Pics?? Did you get any without blinds?
heres my last minute Stud #17 Jake...poor soul...awesome hunt. Got undetected shots off at 5 different long beards at 15 yards and less on 5 different hunts at Big Toms.....Continued to fine tune my system but needed to FINE tune my shooting!!!!!..Did lose a heart breaker.. My DSD Strutter was 100% birds coming too..some 500 to 1000 yards away. Batman has footage of it or does he!! I'll be going back every year until my wife files for divorce.
Turkey looks good, but you look scary!
I put this trip together back at Kalamazoo in 2010. I can not say enough about the Nick Klintworth, our rancher, and the Klintworth family. PBS will be holding their youth Fall hunt here. I can not encourage my fellow PBS brothers enough to contact PBS and get your kid on this hunt. there are limited spots and some guidelines.
I hunted mostly away from main ranch in my own canyon which was gorgeous. Working a bird across cedar saturated prairie from hundreds of yards to your decoy at 12 yards is an exciting hunt for me. I hunt blindless and it's a huge part of the experience for me.
But as much fun as the turkey hunting was on this trip, surrounding yourself with your best old and new bowhunting friends.....there is no price tag. Batman won us all over!
Whip!!...i do , thats what Marty does to a man after 3 days
Hogdancer and myself last evening. Just noticed my light nock still on in pic! Waldrop Pac Seat is Perfect for what i need out of a turkey chair. Threw my old homemade one away after 14 seasons. I'll probably change up my shield some next year after some things i tweaked this year.
heres a pic of one of my best Swamprooter Prostaffers, Marty McMahon. Batman calls him the 'Freezer"...why?!!. he filmed Marty's hunt. he's on the road but will chime in shortly. batman said it was a life changing event sitting in the blind with Marty that evening. Man, some of us know that well> Welcome to the club Batman.!!!...Marty had a big time and made our trip. Marty is Tons of fun and always laughing and cutting up. he can cook a breeakfast too. He can eat too 'like he was going to the electric chair the next day!"
Great Job Marty.....and oh yeah....try not to call any of us for a least a month..

That's awesome Joey, wish I could of made it out there.
Hey, dead stuff!!! Congrats guys!!!
You sorry Rascal Joey- u aren't gonna tell em about my birds!

Me too.
i have said enough nice things about you...tell your own story...i was not there!
Yeah Ole' Batman and I sat in a blind and he was the cameraman. Never been with a Super Hero character before. Never knew Batman chewed-musta made him spit off the set or in one corner of the Bat Cave, anyway we had a big time. We had a parade of turkeys all afternoon going up and down this bottom. It was close to the cow feed so the birds weren't going far. They'd strutt around, then chase each other around like a bunch of school kids in a playground. Batman had this decoy on a track that if one looked our way-he would press a button and it would do laps in a circle like a track team. I got dizzy watchin it. When they were at the far end of this setup-I made him crawl out there and hide it behind the blind. We left just one hen out there. Oh yeah, I might as well fess up-before I got my birds there were a couple misses. These big toms were at about 27 yds and I asked ole snuff lip how far- He had soooo much snuff in his lip I thought he said 37 yds. Next time he comes along -I will bring an interperter. It was a combination of North Carolinaeese and too much chew and excitement -I really didn't catch much he said all week.
Any way I shot high. Once- then twice. Hey-we all need a little practice- I just told him I was giving them warning shots. Probably was the pressure of him on the camera!
Eventually (since we got rid of his decoy train set) a couple jakes got interested in my expert calling (taught by Joey) these Jakes ease their way to us and I was concentrating so hard on a spot this time, that I put one right in the lead jakes chest and passed through and killed the one behind it! Well not at first-it ran up the hill with my arrow while his buddy folded up right there. I say I got both with one arrow, but Biggie says different. We saw him drop into a little gully and Biggie and I were ready to finish him off, when he took off flying across this cow pen and slammed into the barb wire fence. Oh man he looked like a flying circus performer that slammed into a wall. Really didn't make me happy at all. We rushed over there and I had to finish it off-hence Biggie's technically correct.I used another arrow-man they are tough. Luckily you can take 2 turkeys in Nebraska.
Like Joey said, it was a great hunt, with great friends, even if Batman needs a session with Dr. Phil after spending all that time with us.
Good Stuff guys.....!!!
Congrats all around!!!!...and many thanks for sharing....
:campfire:
Marty you are too funny, batman will never be the same. Ha ha...

Batman told me he put in a huge dip, marty , to keep u from maybe trying to make a move on him in the blind!
I am not as fast as i once was!!! heres one of my many exciting hunts at Klintworth Ranch.

Awesome stuff guys.
Great play-by-play!
:clapper:
Looks like a great hunt with a few comedy routines thrown in.
Well heck Joey, anyone can see from the photo above you are hunting fenced-in turkeys. What is that on the front of your bow...a satellite dish?
Awesome, Thomas I hope that you didn't give the shawnee too much mojo that you will want to keep it forever. lol!
Sounds like a comedy of errors....or was it a comedy of arrows? Joey either needs a haircut or a different wig. The group photo was very revealing. Joey looks like Larry the Cable Guy years ago when he worked in a donut shop. Nice pajamas Joebuck. Is it my imagination or are the feet still attached on those PJs? Hagdancer needs eye makeup. What's with the white circles always present around his eyes? Maybe he should not wear his sunglasses while sunning himself daily. Schuster no longer looks the part of an eligible bachelor Meg Ryan might be interested in but more like an old man who just got all his front teeth pulled. Waiting for dentures? Bottom line is everyone had a good time, feathers flew in more ways than one and you now have the makings of turkey jerky and butterball stew. Good job guys! This is what tradgang is all about!
I love the way that KUIU camo doesn't "blob" like so many other patterns! Gotta get me some of that!
Turkeys or no turkeys, this sure sounds like it was a camp for the ages. Good times had by all! Sounds like a long ways to good for a silly bird, but well worth the trip anyway.
Have to agree with Gene though - Shoe might have played that bachelor hand one too many times. Better call their bluff before they figure it out...
Tom, the Morrison shot great but I missed with it a few too many times so I pulled out the Robertson, Marty's old bow the "Slick Beaver" (http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k209/hogdancer/P1050562.jpg)
I did'nt realize I was so short ! better not stand next to Biggie next time !
that was my preacher's hair do. Marty needed some preaching.!
What kind of guy would name a bow "Slick Beaver?" Maybe we better not go there.....
what kind of guy? ... one of your best friends, Marty
Good times, stories and pics. Thanks for sharing.
I Will agree we all had a great time. Just got home and washed and will Tell a little tonight.
The Clintworths were indeed the most gracious hosts Ive ever seen.
Each of the six of us had a job to do, which I will give credit to in the up coming dvd Im putting together. Primal Nightmares.
Gene, Joey really looks like John Belushi in animal house.
I did learn alot about aggressive calling from Marty. He was also good for my self esteem . Hell, who wouldn't feel better about themselves after hearing Marty's life story. Just kidding. I had a great time hunting with Marty. I got his double on video. When they were coming in, he said " turn on the camera". I told him the battery was dead. He said some nasty things to me then.
Biggie was in charge of climate control in the bunkhouse. We woke every morning to a comfy 40 degrees internal temp. I enjoyed his company as well as the low country boil he cooked the first night.
Shoeman was in charge of pain management and meal planning. He's a hard hunter and hope to hunt with him again.
Hogdancer was a pleasure to be around as well. Although by the last day he was like Maj Pain. It had been at least a week since he had killed something and was starting to get the itch.
I want to thank Joey for inviting me on this mission. It ranks right there at the top for hunting trips in my life. I wish I had known all these guys 25 years ago. the stories they tell would fill volumes.
I took a bunch of pics but 29 hrs on the road was alot. Got to cut and bale hay tomarrow. I promise to get some up as soon as I can. DB
Congrats to all...you guys are quite a bunch of old longbeards!
Thanx so much for sharing :notworthy: :clapper:
Can't wait to see more.
What a camp to be in. Congrats to all of you. Nothing better than good friends.
Randy

Just testing my pics. got a new mac and unsure if it will work. If it does, yall can all see why Marty is so sweet. Much more tomarrow night. good night.
Batman sent me an invite to the "unveiling" this AM - Thanks, buddy. The others of this obviously infamous crew have really whetted up the "appetite" and I am ready for the video (to reveal all the secrets). If that camera don't work after all this "prep" you are in deep doo-doo, Don - LOL
I loved the group photo - talk about "dueling banjos" brought to life. or "man of constant sorrow". I kept looking for someone in that "flock" that needed any more of what was being scooped in that last photo (I'm convinced it is pure butter, ice cream, or mashed tatters) but I honestly couldn't pick out one "Hongry Man" in the bunch.
Sounds like a real hunt to remember, guys, and (from my own experience) you couldn't have had a better "newbie" (never thought I'd call him that) campmate along then "batman" Don. All of you should tuck this one away in one of your best ditty bags, to preserve forever (against your failing memories).
Good on ya all - I would like to see one consolidated list/post of the final scores though - I kept loosing count during the thread - :D
We got out for a few hours on wed afternoon. I wanted to see what was around and didn't carry my decoy with me. Had 9 hens and 3 mature toms parade by at 50 yds.
Next am I was in position with my attack trak decoy in position. The hens came back by and one of the toms. The last two toms came down the canyon and came right in the my set up in full strut. I promptly shot under one of them at 12 yds. and then over one at 25 yds. All captured on film.
I move my blind and stuff about 50 yds around a little finger of cedars and got back in around 3 pm. about 6:45 a few hens were getting close, coming down the draw. A nice tom dropped down in the draw and started strutting for them. When they were about 75 yds out, another tom came on the scene. I got to watch a knock down dragout turkey fight. The looked like a couple of game roosters going at it. When the fight was over the turkeys looked like they were gonna walk right in front of me. At the last min the hens lead them around the backside of my blind. I was able the drop the back window and shoot one of the toms from my knees. The hit looked ok and he flew over my blind and landed up the hill about 20 feet. I waited a few and tore my stuff down. When I topped the hill, He was laying there 5 feet away. I was tickled. My first Rio.

The last one is looking down at my blind from the hill. It was a neat little spot. I hope to see it again someday. More tonight. Don
Ahhh - I can finally release my breath - LOL Great start, buddy. Nice Tom (and pics) from a cool hunt story. I like the panorama of the blind from the hill - sure looks like a place to be! Glad to hear you scored early - takes the pressure off so you can really enjoy the rest of the experience, huh - :archer2:
Nice Don, I'm really enjoying this thread. I like the "dueling banjos" theme song for this one. As I read this thats what's playing in my head.
Slick Beaver I almost missed that part.
Heres a picture of the Original Slick Beaver, "Marty".....what a rack on this guy! He was excited to see us, obviuosly
(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i150/jmb1221/nebraskamartytshirt.jpg)
Oh yeh, that's a group, alright - no wonder my buddy, Don fit in so good. I'll bet he told at least a few hundred jokes out there
What a group! I would be too nervous to sleep much with these characters around.
And what about Shuster? Did he kill anything? Did he pull his trademark "Shuster act" and forget to bring any food?
All I can say is that Joey's size made me feel good about myself!
Schuster brought tomato soup for his share of the food and when we went into the grocery store when we got there- he convienently said he had a conference call and stayed in Biggies truck! He missed the check out line- he taught me a lot!!!
Then he skipped on paying me his share of groceries. but in his defense....he doesn't eat a whole lot.
martys wears 42 and I wear 38s. ...that's the math
I wear my pants where u r spossed to- not around my knees.
LOL - sounds about right for a good campfire group. No wonder the Turkeys kept coming back - they wanted to see who was gonna be picked on worst during the next go-round -

That's hilarious! After looking at the "poster boy for KUIU" pic.....I think I have to agree :clapper:
Should have seen the the pic when High Pockets tried on my 38s............looked like he was hungry because his butt was eating the Kuiu.
Someone hurry up and change Martys name to High Pockets. Thats a good one Joey.
Marty is one of the nicest guys to talk with. I was fortunate enough to be graced with his presence at the PBS a few years back.
Having met Biggie and Marty at PBS Nashville last year and hearing the BS exchanged between the two, and after reading Batman and Joebucks sparring matches on here, I can only bet you needed hip boots to wade through those conversations :) Great read fellas, and most of the pics are great, but that group shot is a bit scary...oh yeah all I know about hogdancer is that any critter near him gets killed. He's serious bidness :notworthy:

I'm checking this place out. I've been looking for a place to hunt turkeys in Nebraska.
Since I killed my bird on day one and needed to save $ for next year, I decided to try and get some footage of a new prototype decoy some buddies of mine from Virginia had sent me. I was really surprised when Joey asked me to tag along with him. Not nearly as surprised as Marty. He said " Man , Joey's never asked me along on one of his Blindless hunts". We headed out to the spot that he wanted to set up. It took him just a few min. to figure out where we would be able to see them way before they were in range. I sat up the decoy while he pruned a cedar tree and drug some dead limbs up in front of his perch. I got up under another cedar about 10 yards up the hill from him. With the trap set, all we had to do was wait. When he set the dsd hen , he realized he had forgot the decoy stake. I knew he was a REAL turkey hunter when He took a grizzly sitk out of his quiver, with a silver flame broadhead on the end and broke it off about 18" long and staked the hen down. Pricey stake. I learned more in the next 3 + hrs about turkey hunting than I have since I been turkey hunting. Birds were gobbln here and there. He just did some soft clucks and yelps just to let them know where we were. Then every now and then another set of Kee/yelps. What i'm sayin is he did'nt call much at all, but when he did I thought it was a turkey. The man can sound like a turkey. I couln't see out in front of us or to the right, but had a great view to the right. While he was calling, I saw a gobbler waaaay off on a hill. I'm talking 800yds at least. I can't hear good ,but I can see a long ways. He was in full strut and coming down the hill heading our way. I said, " Big bird coming our way" . He couldn't see him from where he was. When the bird dropped off the hill and crossed the road, 3 hens came out to join him. I think Joey could see them by now. they were still a good 350 yds away. He did'nt call at all as I remember. They kept comming and the hens finally left him. Joey hit the button and made the decoy circle the track. The gobbler was interested . He came right on to us. At about 50 yds, I was trying not to cough and be still. The bird went behind a tree and I figured when he stepped out, I'd hit the record button. After about 3 min of waiting for him to step out, I saw Joey come to full draw. The bird had circled out in front of us and didn't come into my view until right before he shot. I did hit the record button right before the shot, but since I had the cam aimed at the decoy, got no footage of the gobbler. Just as well I guess. He shot over or under him. The turkey then ran back to the left and stopped 20 yds from me. Then headed up a little draw. I called it a sucessfull hunt. Turkey came to our set up . two guys, one with swine flu, no blind , and managed to get of a 19 yd shot at an unsuspecting bird. When Joey found out I didn't get any footage, he fired me and made me hunt with Marty that afternoon. At least we got good footage of Martys double, which I know pleased Joey more than getting his miss on film. It was an exciting morning none the less.
I did take this pic from my spot. Joey is down there between me and the decoy.
This is the new hen decoy stake.
Did anyone mention that we ate good? We did.
Biggie cooked a great Low Country Boil the first night. For You guys that don't know what that is, It's shrimp, scallops, corn on the cob, potatoes, onions, smoked sausage, etc, all cooked togather and then dumped out on the table to feast on. It was great.
Marty is a handy guy around the kitchen as well.
These guys ate with the gusto of a hound dog.

Most of my hunting pics are on my video cam. I'll try and post some turkey pics when I get them uploaded. DB
Dang Joey! No wonder you haven't responded to my "how's the working out and diet going" emails? :biglaugh:
That hunt sounds "legendary" in about every sarcastic way one could mean that.
Awesome stuff. Keep it coming fellas.
MMM-hmmmm, those Low Country Boils (in all their variations) are a classic in them selves!!! If you ever get a chance to fall in on one - trust me, dive in face first - and don't come up for air until you're stuffed. Biggie was making them all a "lifetime-memory" right there, all in one fell swoop.
next year Batman, I am going to film you. Your the Hitman. Shooting a walking bird at 20+ is impressive. I know now just watching you shoot the foam, I might have a colonoscopy the weekend of Clarksville IBO shoot :) .
What did Schuster cook?
Counting the days till next year!
What did Schuster cook?... that's funny, he was supposed to be cooking with me come to think of it, and it turned out to be Marty helping me, don't know what happened to Matt, maybe another "conferance call"
Where's Biggie- He hasn't said a word???? Maybe he didn't have a good time.

I wonder too? Not like Biggie to sit quietly in the corner....
Joebuck - did Tracy think you were off on some business trip or something?? Certainly she wouldn't have turned you loose with (or on) these characters...
This certainly was a ruthless band of characters, both on the turkeys and on each other! :biglaugh: :biglaugh: Great thread!
Joebuck, as a newbie to the world of blindless hunting I'd sure be interested to hear what sort of modifications to your set up you are considering...
BA..she left me With the boys spring break so I had Points built up. now I am starting to mention AZ elk this fall. look forward to seeing y'all some this fall.
Whip...I am 11 for 11 on drawing on birds over last 3 years so the Zulu Shield is solid but I am going to change the oval to a trapezoid . My welder ( batman) and me are hammering out details now.
Trapezoid?!?!?
I've sure heard of hunting educated birds, but didn't realize they had progressed to knowing about geometry!!
Man this is tough!!

Thats a 4 star line :biglaugh:
I'm gonna check the reg's- pretty sure you can't trapazoid a turkey.
Biggie is still mad that little Jake toted his shaft and bh off.
Whip...trying to teach you grasshopper... :) ...think square!
Marty ..... a trapezoid is what you cutt in the toliet the first morning and stopped it up!...may i suggest a nice citrus eninma for you sometimes this week please.
did'nt Biggie say for none of us to contact him for a month?.... or did he mean just Marty?
Not one pimp out things but i will this......
Waldrop Pac Seat
over the years i have got countless emails and PMs about what seat i use for Blindless hunting. I have said countless times i copied a seat my friend David Waldrop made and used at the Paradise Club when we all hunted down there. Well David is making his after years of tweaking so i bought one this year and immediately threw my away.. This seat has it all in this order..1. Right height for limb tip to clear the ground..2. Leans against a tree perfectly. 3. Very light .....4. Comfortable..does not need a cushion...5. adjustable...6. Self standing also if needed
If your a ground hunter...this is the seat IMO. i carrry my decoy stake, bow stand and video pole too.
will tote a bird nicely too
(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i150/jmb1221/nebraskakuiu.jpg)
That's great stuff Joey....I'd sure like to sit around a campfire with you for a few day and talk turkey!
Yeah, I'm with ya in that one Curt. Hunting turkeys is just to much fun.
The KUIU stuff looks like the old Fratzke Winona pattern! So joebuck, why the change to a trapezoid? Did you use the wooden hen calls on those birds? Looks like a great camp to share.
Joey,
When I tried a "tree seat" for blindless hunting I missed a bird low THREE TIMES. I called him back in after each miss. It finally dawned on me that since my back was to a tree, I was short drawing even though I was getting to anchor. I went to a swivel stool after that and sit in front of big trees, but my shoulders are perp to the tree. How do you do this with that seat? It looks like I'd have the same problem I had with the tree seat.
Julian , 2 ways I can address this to keep from short drawing
1. First way is simply lean up in chair. That's what's neat about a 2 legged chair. Your feet are you front legs and chair legs are back feet. The seat height is so that you can lean forward to get back off tree
.2 I turn my body/ feet to the right and set up my decoy for a left side shot .then I lean up a tad..
joebuck, have you tried the hunterseat? It is really simple and light. Of course, you wouldn't be able to pack your decoys with it.

Lots of interesting pics, Don.
Thanks Don, for taking all the pics
I don't know, Joey... trapezoid?
The farm boy engineer in me (think duct tape, baling wire) has to believe that a Rhombus would be a better shape choice. Hope you get something you like cobbled up.
Sounds like a great time with a top-notch crew.
And Marty, I think you are stylin' in the BQ4 tee! Two birds with one arrow, eh? The transformation of Loser to Legend nears completion...
Thanks for a fun report, and congrats on the birds taken.
Biggie and Schuster are in hiding I guess?
Here's a couple Jakes that checked out my calls the first morning!

Like Joey-I didn't always use a blind!
I have been known to be a joker-I assure you guys-that was a joke! BUT that is a nice gobbler out the kitchen window!!!
joebuck, my mistake. The hunterseat is only rated for 300# :bigsmyl:
Would love to make a trip like that, the company doesn't sound bad either, thanks for the pics.
And you Elk hunters think you know how to cow call?

Mike Mitten at the end of Primal Dreams carrying those two bucks has nothing on me!

Marty..Double? Impressive!
Rod- Yep My first and second turkey with one arrow! DO NOT ask me about any other shots. I might lie.
owl bait....I think your right because I saw Martys chair at his camp with a sack of dog food sitting in it for months..he must be scared to use it..
Joey, is that a camo dress or muumuu you are wearing in some of the photos?
Secret material. One size fits all.!
What happened to Biggie? There is very little mention of him. Few pictures and no response from him here at all. Did you guys do something despicable to Biggie?
Marty....glad to see all the smiles...I'm proud of ya brother!!!
:campfire:
Rod, You'd be proud of Marty. He was talking himself through the 7 or is it 8 steps of the shot. I don't think his has gotten to conclusion yet. LOL. I'm gonna see if I can put up the clip of Martys double. I don't know how to edit the sound so I might be rated PG. DB
what a great thread! thanks for sharing y'all. i cant wait to see the vids don. ruddy
I talked with Biggie this morning. Everything is fine except he put in a four state/ fifteen hour day working yesterday. He still loves everyone. UB
Here's a short clip of Marty's double. beware, In the excitement of the moment, the language may be suspect.

awesome !! :clapper:
Now that's just priceless, way to go Marty and Don.
That is cool guys! Great coaching and support Don. Marty, what makes that a $1,000 bird?
LOL great balls 'o fire - and I thought I had a potty mouth, Don. No wonder you and I could always hold an easy conversation on those trips - and don't tell me that's where you picked it up -
Here's one more clip. I think this is a classic. Warning, you may want to put on your waders before watching. This was a great trip . Nick, I know your watching , thanks so much for all you did for us. You have a great place and a better family. I know you are proud of them all. See ya next year. And now, "Reflections of the hunt" by Marty Machman. Later. DB

Like I said earlier, just priceless. Thanks for posting up the videos Don.
After attending Bear Quest IV with Marty, I can imagine the antics that went on! Every hunt needs someone like him to make the hunt.......shall we say interesting! Thanks for the fun stories fellas. By the way Marty, I'll bet Mike never killed both those bucks with one shot!
As you all can tell by the video my good buddy Batman is also the narrator for local church functions. Glad ya had a good time buddy i'm sure all of them enjoyed your company as well as we do round here. All that talk about citrus enemas kinda makes me wonder what the heck happened when the birds weren't cooperating?? Don dips those big lumps so noone can occuse him of havin a purty mouth..
Well, That last one was cleaned up pretty good, Don - even when you talked - I'm proud on ya! :D
Good to get a little better look at tradgang members (like Biggie and Marty) - I enjoyed it. (of course I enjoyed the heck out of the first one too - LOL).
You guys here Biggie mooing in the background?
Utterly ridiculous- we're really startin to milk this thread!
I am still waiting for Biggie to tell us the truth about what happened. At least he got some of the BS straightened out in the video.
6 of us only shot 34 times at birds under 25 yards so it makes sense somebody somebody could kill 2 in one shot. I have no room to talk. I missed 3 at 15!!!! And I can't blame it on blind netting!
batman doesn't cuss! Those are his adjectives

Joey, I am going to have to remember that line.
Thanks for the great stories and pictures and of course the videos. They brought back great memories. I can't wait to get back to Nick's.
Jack
I know this is starting to get old, but I was cleaning up my camcorder and ran across this. I promise this will be the last.
http://youtu.be/BdPHGi8VvXE
All I get is "Video private, sorry 'bout that".
Sorry Bill, Should be OK now. Don
Joebuck/ there will be payback!!!! You rascal!!!
My friend Joey paid for my hunt as a gift for trying to get him an Osceola turkey for about 12 years! Matt Schuster flew me out there. Bowhunting friends are the best!! Biggie just gave me a hard time.
Another good, down to earth, snipit of life on the range there, Don. IMO y'all done better than win the lottery - you had a great hunt and a fun time with great friends - how can it get any better than that!!! Then you shared it all with the rest of us - thanks one and all :goldtooth:
there were so many funny lines shared in this thread that reading it all at once, my face hurt from smiling so much!
what a group! Thanks guys for a fun-filled, funny thread reminiscent of stories of old here abouts!
Funny, I was talking to joey today about this years trip and was looking on google for nick klintworths contact info and this thread came up in the search. I read the whole thing again. What a great trip with a great bunch of guys. Hope this year will be just as good or better. thought i would bump it back for the off season. DB
What a classic!!! Can't wait for April :)
Ha! As if I'm not itching bad enough already. Big waders to fill at that place for sure.
We are going to do our best to make sure that Joey and the rest of that bunch are kicking themselves in the rear end all the way to next year for missing out on this years installment.
Talking to Nick the other night he figured there were 4-500 birds on the place right now. Very little in the way of snows, so the turks are fairing well this winter.
I will never forget the sounds that first morning last year as the turkeys woke up and started with the tree talk and gobbling. And then watching as wave after wave of them poured out of the roost trees. Turkey hunting heaven!!
Joe any room for another?
I went back and read year before last years thread too! I am just happy to get to go and will do my best to "fill the waders" of the previous bunch. Somehow I think without Joebuck some of the "character" will be lost...I am gonna try though. Growing my hair out like 1977 Elvis and putting on some weight. Now if I could just develop an affinity for bull-balls, zulu shield-makin', and swamp rooster killin' :p
I am gonna cook some though and hope to hold my own in the kitchen. That I know I can do...the turkey killin', well, that will be gravy on the taters :campfire:
mike you will do fine, heres only tip I can give you......if Nick suggests the "barn". Well he feels sorry for you! Whips breakfast heart stopper casserole is to die for.......
If he puts Ryan on lookout for you, He REALLY feels sorry for you. The Klintworths are Very nice Folks.
I started reading through this one to help with my dreaming tonight. Found this quote - sorry to hear that Joey....

I thought it but you did it.
now what week are ya'll going?
April 24-28th.
Sure could use a batch of catfish...
I still shoot tea out my nose when I read this :)
So looking forward to this trip again this year. This thread here is some funny stuff.
with turkey season upon us, I thought maybe there would be someone on here who'd enjoy reading about this trip. It was a good one and many great memories and friendships were made. Enjoy
Dang what a hunting trip! I miss seeing and hearing you guys hunting stories! I enjoyed it when it was first posted and enjoyed it just as much the second go round!
Are any of you guys still hunting this ranch?
