Antelope season will be here before we know it,Just wondering who is going and if you are planning a hunt with any other Tradgang members.
We will be heading to eastern Montana to hunt with Pete Iacavazzi,Minuteman(Chris Parker),My son and myself.
I will be looking forward to the pictures and storys of everbody's hunt.Good luck,Shoot strait and stay safe :D
Tracy :archer:
Good luck to you.
Be safe.
Hopefully I'll be headed for Douglas, Wyoming, towards the end of august!!! Just me and 7 wheeliebow guys, but I'll still have fun...hehehe. Still waiting to see if we drew tags or not!!!
Good luck in MT.
I'm not going to be with any tradgang members, but will be heading to the east side of the state as well around that time. Actually I'm not sure that I know any other tradgang members personally. I live on the west side, so I've got about a 6 hr. drive to the land I hunt. Maybe someday we'll cross paths.
I hate all of you lucky bums! I have 5 "preference points" here on the West Slope of CO, yet can't draw a tag. Have fun, and win or lose, never lose sight of the fact that you are lucky bums! dave
Still waiting for the results. Hopefully
I am like Barney, still waiting for the results of the draw. With any luck I will be in Douglas the 2nd week of Sept.
Jack
I will be over on the East side conducting my usual early season assault during the middle of August. If that doesn't produce, then I will probably head back over in September or October. Good luck.
Thanks Tex.
Brad,Show them weelie boys how it's done.
You never know Tree ghost we could cross paths in eastern Montana.
Good luck to everyone on there draw tags :)
Tyler,Leave some for us to shoot at :D
Tracy
I'll be near Douglas, WY the first week of September hopefully making a big pronghorn come to his "Trails End".
Tony
Only 64 days. Your time of corse!
Todd
I am scheduled to have the Little Delta for the last two weeks of August; think I might be somewhere in eastern Montana for a few days also.
I live in eastern MT already started scouting, can't wait.
Hey Tracy, I'll be back in WY again this year for antelope and have put in for mule deer this year.
Will you be at MOJAM this year?
Mike
I'll be chasing goats in WY and ND. Now the only problem is deciding which bow to use :) !
Claudia
If I draw tags, I'll be chasing them in WY at Vance's place. Never hunted lopes before...looking forward to learning about some new critters.
Sounds like you won't be the only one around Douglas Wyoming Tony.Good luck to you :)
Maybe next year Todd we can go on a goat hunt,But I think Africa will be alot of fun for you this year.
Walt,I sure would like to buy you a cup of coffee and sit down and visit.Maybe we can get togather this year why we are up there.
No Mojam this year Mike, :( My sister sceduled are family reunion on that weekend  I am really going to miss it.
Claudia,I pitty the goats when you have a bow in your'e hand,Any bow.
Tracy
I plan to be in eastern Wyoming on Aug 15 for the opener. I am taking a friend on his first big game bowhunt. We put in for the high priced special tags that have had 85% drawing success so chances are pretty good we will be able to make this hunt.
Good luck on the draw JC,Looks like Vance has a awsome ranch. You will have fun chasing them Lopes around. :)
I will be chasing antelope a little further north from you boys if I get my tags (still waiting after 6 years) but I won't know till August Good luck all and have fun Delin
Tracy,
Listen my amigo. Will I have to take you by the hand and personally guide you and cook for you and clean for you and tuck you in to bed each night like I had to do for GURU last year? Will I have to put up your treestand, place your blinds and even call in a big goat for you as well? I even had to use my brand new knife to dress out GURU's deer and antelope...Will I have to once again take you to all my best spots so you can shoot a P&Y buck like I did for GURU? Hmmm...Hint...I love Bourbon and good cigars.
See ya in Augusto me Amigo
Hmmm,I knew Tracy was "high maintenance" but did not know just how much care and feeding he required....you guys have fun on your hunts. At least I'll be able to go to Mojam. :)
Hey now you big muscle head mocho dude!!
We can tuck are selfs in just fine and believe it or not I can cook some too.I was just letting you feel all important and trying to learn some of your'e Montana cooking secrets. And it worked to when you showed us you and Paul's way to cook deer steak,That was yummy.
Don't worry when you come to Kansas this fall the stands and blinds will all be up.If you want I can lead you by the hand too I don't want you to feel cheated.Get ready for some great hunting and I will even gut your'e deer for ya.
Looking forward to August ;)
Tracy
Blah,blah,blah........Let's get a couple things straight right here and now!
You did do a heck of a job cooking up in the mountains, but you had other things on your mind come bed time :scared:
I put the tree stand up and it was my blind(that came back with 3 broken poles) :knothead:
But you certainly did bring me to all(almost) of your best spots!!
You opened your home and heart...and I appreciate all you did for me ....luv ya bud.....
I sure wish I could join you guys on this one,but I couldn't do both MT and KS......
If all goes as planned the "Three Amigos" will be together again in KS this November!!!
Counting the days.......
But I plan to attack MT next year...
So, Mr Iacavazzi,(Thats pronounced Yakka- vahzee for those out there that can't sort it out!) what do you consider a good cigar? Cohivas? Personally, I wouldn't know a good cigar if it was chewing on my leg but hey anybody that'll hook fellas up like you're doing has earned a few stogies in my estimation.
What kinda bourbon you like to sip? We're gonna need something to toast the fallen pronghorns around the campfire, you know.
Chris
Dang Chris I was hoping you would know something about cigars because I don't have a clue. :knothead:
Maybe if we get Pete to drink enough bourbon he won't notice the differance.
Sure wish you could be there to Curt,It won't be the same. But hopefully come November the Kansas whitetails will be in big trouble around here and some turkeys too
:D
And yes,Pete did show us some awsome country and an awful good time didn't he.Hopefully I can return the favor here in Kansas.
Tracy
ttt
Ok some things are true. Yes, I make a heck of a deer steak "ala Schaf". Yes, I did break 3 poles in Gurus double bull blind. But hey some guys (appearently me) cannot figure out the 7 second set up. It took me 30 minutes and 3 broken poles with the help of 2 other Montana guys!! But that is another story!
As for cigars...A Cohiba is pretty sweet. Bourbons? I really love Woodford Reserve but will certainly drink JD any time.
OK Guru did put up the stand (my stand) but I picked the tree (or at least thats my story) and yes, I'm sticking with it. Ok, so he did buy me a beautiful, I mean gorgeous Doug Campbell knife. But he got it all dirty with blood and stuff from all the critters he shot out here..(In my really sweet spots).
KS Trapper single handedly reduced the eastern MT rabbit population in half! Than proceeded to out shoot me with his homemade longbow! As if that wasn't enough Guru had to photograph the largest Black Bear in the history of Montana (That I let walk right out of our lives). But, thank fully Guru has preserved the moment so I never forget it!
Yes, I did have to tuck them both in and tell them bedtime stories. Note to anyone who ever hunts with Guru...Don't ever plan on sleeping in! This guy is up before the "rooster".
Now I am adding the Minute Man to my list of non-resident "Misfits". Minute Man, I say that lovingly!
So, be advised after I get a big goat for Minute Man and KS Trapper (AKA Momma P). I am heading to Kansas in November...where KS promises me a big Whitetail. But, I'm sure I'll have to first help Guru drag his big buck out!
Ah... the saga never ends my compadres...
Well Tracy, we better take it easy on Pete so he doesn't have any excuses to stay in bed too long in the mornin! Just razzin' ya Pete. Can't wait to meet ya.
We will have him outnumbered you know,Tracy! I sure do enjoy some biscuits and sausage gravy in the mornin. Anybody able to make biscuits over a coleman stove?
Hey don't forget about Shawn, Pete. That'll be 3 P&Y pronghorn bucks please. Hold the tomato and yes we'd like fries with that!
Chris
Thats the good thing about antelope hunting,You can always take a nap in the blind. You just got to make sure your'e partner dosn't eat your'e lunch while you sleep.
As far as ganging up on ol Pete,Don't forget he is a black belt,Jujitsu,Kickboxer,College wrestler and football champion and makes a living at teaching other people how to defend them selfs.
Three is not enough!!!
Yeah,I can fix biscuits and gravy but not as good as my wife.We would be better off with pancakes and sausage but I will see what I can do.Besides everything tastes better when you cook over a open fire in my tipi,Maybe we can get Pete to cook some Pronghorn steak.
Tracy
If Pete eats my lunch I guess I'll just have to be hungry , or remove all his broadheads while he's nappin'! As far as the gravy goes I can cook that just have never made biscuits without an oven before. Dutch oven maybe?
It'll be cool to set up and use a tipi in an area where they were used originally by the indian folks. With the wind out there we'll have to make sure we stake the rope down inside well.
Can't wait to get out there!
69 days til I fly!
Forgot to mention that Pete makes some of the best coffee in Montana too. :campfire:
Tracy
Don't believe the hype!!! The toughest man in MT cooked us breakfast at his ranch house. He told me he's way tougher than Pete cause he don't wear tights like Pete does :scared: :banghead:
Pete wears Tights? :scared: Oh man what did I sign up for? Course superman wore tights, then so do mimes normally, guess I'll just have to wait and see. As long as Pete isn't a superhero mime I'll be ok. ;)
Yeah, Tracy you better give him his own tipi. :p :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
Ah yes... the whole tight incident. Lets just say that Superman does in fact wear tights and yes, so do I...
Guru is right. According to legend there are actually two tuffer dudes in Montana. Ol' Arnie and the one lil' Roseland (at least they think they're tuff).
Minute man and KS, get working on your biscuit recipe. I love biscuits and honey with my sweet Montana camp coffee.
Peace out
Nobody else going Antelope hunting???
Feel free to show some pictures just to get us warmed up :D
Tracy :archer:

Nice pictures Brad,I can smell the sage now. Thanks
Tracy
Good grief! As wide open as things are out there, is it difficult to judge yardage properly?
So ya wanna hit these fellers like a whitetail right? Tight to the shoulder just below the white line on their side?
Thanks for the pics Brad. I'm quite sure we are gonna see the tail ends of a few of em.
Hoo-dog I can't wait!
Chris
I would imagine, that judging yardage would be different than Indiana!!!
Yup, straight up the back of the front leg...tight behind the shoulder...that blood'll look purty, on that white belly hair!!!
I'm hopin the waterhole blind works for me!!!
And yea, that sage smells GOOD, doesn't it!!!
You will get used to it Chris,Besides there are lots of bunnies to practice on and lots of stump shooting contest.
Yeah Brad the sage smells good,Always reminds me of the mountains. We will be stalking, decoying and sitting on water holes. What ever works,Its all fun. :)
Tracy
I was planning to bowhunt speed goats in Wyoming and then Montana this fall, after learning I drew the Montana combo elk/deer tag. But I learned I had a terrible problem - too many tags! I also drew a sheep tag (ewe) in Colorado but wasn't notified until the end of May so I decided to not apply for the 900 series antelope tag for Montana and withdraw from the Wyoming antelope and deer drawing. I was really looking forward to hunting antelope again. Took my son on a very brief antelope hunt in CO several years ago.....

I love hunting those plains with that wind, the forever views, and smell of sage.....

Well fellas I got to buy some camo for this pronghorn hunt and I need to do it with as little money as possible. Here's what I'm thinking about. Buying 3 or 4 pairs of desert camo, military BDU pants and maybe a jacket as well. But instead of having the pants and shirt match buy two or three different long sleeve tee's in different patterns to help break up my outline some.
I just read an article in a magazine where the guy was spot and stalking 'lopes and he wore a pair of tan carhart pants and a camo shirt. Any ideas or suggestions?
Does Montana look alot like the Colorado pics as far as the colors go? Doesn't look like a whole buncha green stuf at head level. I'd appreciate advice from some of you fellas with experience hunting Montana. Thanks
Down to 55 days now!
Chris
Say Chris,
Is Montana a state that allows the use of stone points? If you are doing spot and stalk a pair of tan work pants with those foam knee pad inserts might be a good idea.
Have fun getting ready you guys...
Paul
I was blessed once more and drew a CO pronghorn tag. Spot & Stalk pronghorns, come on Aug 15th! T
Course I'll be goin after a few goats here and there...mostly spot and stalk...because I apparently need the practice at both (especially the stalkin part) when it comes to speed goats. One of these days... :banghead:
tick tock.
Todd
Dang Jeff,Must be ruff having to many tags.I would pass on antelope for elk, deer and sheep any time.Good luck to you can't wait to hear about the hunts.
Paul,Chris had his computer crash he will be back in a few days.Good idea
Good luck T.Downing in Colorado,Spot and stalk antelope is as tuff as it gets.
Same for you Randy,Can't wait to get back there.Good luck :)
Todd,You counting down your'e trip or ours. When do you leave bud??
Tracy
Thanks for the "good luck" Tracy, this is going to be the year! T
I'm counting both. Sooner your's gets here, the sooner mine does to! :bigsmyl:
Todd
Hi Tracy,
Ah,his confuser crashed eh...?Bummer.Gives Chris
more time to pack and re-pack then.
And the pre-hunt excitement builds...
Regs say that the broadhead must have two cutting edges so I guess a stone point would work.
Still having trouble with the computer.
"Gods personal gift to women everywhere"....I can't believe Don wrote that about you :bigsmyl:
Great article bud!! Been waiting to read it since we talked about it last year :notworthy:
Pete does have a nice smile :D
Still waiting on my TBM,Looking forward to reading it.
Just a few more days before the drawing bud.I saw three bucks on the way in tonight. One was a nontypical thats going to be a dandy.
Tracy
:goldtooth:
Saw 4 deer on my way to work tonight. One nice buck and some healthy does...saw a very nice buck coming home from Larryville the other evening too.
