Goldtip 35/55s should work as well.

I think you could shoot the 5575 as well with no problem, gold tips that is.

Kingrider has it right. Ya could shoot a 28" Heritage 150 with a 50 grain brass insert and a long BH adapter and 125 grain point for roughly 195 up front. I bet it would fly perfect. The 35/55 with about the same set up would be close as well. The 55/75 would be real stiff unless ya put 250 grains up front or more on a 28" arrow. Shawn

let them shoot what they want to. NOONE has a right to ridicule anyone for what they shoot.unless you are shooting an selfbow with stone points then you are no more "primitive" then he is.
i have shoot wood and it sucks!!!!! it bends way to easily, breaks easily and is extremely expensive given its life compared to carbon. the only reason to shoot wood is for the little bit of nostalge, and thumb your nose at other people who choose to shoot other materials.

sorry but i say it like i see it ... ; )

btw i just got done building 2 dozen wood arrows 3 weeks ago. the only reason i wanted to waste time on them was to shoot an extra round of 3d. when i am not shooting 3d it stays in the box.

as for the question if i could shoot any carbon arrow i would look at he beeman MFX classic. they have a slim diameter for added penetration and they have a heavy grain per inch.
i also like the goldtip traditional for the added weight.

LAWYER-

I would defintely go with the carbons. They are a lot less work and penetration and performance will be superior to wood regardless of what Paul says. Not disrespecting Paul, but I think he'll tell you that he can be pretty opinionated. Stick with the carbons-you won't regret it.

Carbons!!!  GEESH!!!  The next thing you know, guys will be putting HIGH TECH FIBERGLASS backings on the back and belly of REAL bows and still try to call them Traditional Bows!!  What is this world coming to??

You might as well be shooting a compound!!  LOL!!! (tongue planted firmly in cheek)

Like Paul, I prefer wood arrows. It really isn't because of the traditional aspect though. I have tried carbons and aluminum as well. Carbons are tough; there is no doubt of that, but getting them to shoot well can get pretty involved: inserts, tubes, etc.

I find cedar arrows to be much more forgiving, easier to tune, and WAY quieter than either carbon or aluminum. They are also fun to make. The same arrows shoot great from all of my bows. I can't say that for carbons.

If you are only drawing 26.5, I think the 5575's are going to be pretty stiff. I draw 28" and found that 29" Carbon Express Terminator Hunters with 100 grain inserts and 125 grain broadheads or field tips shoot very well from my son's 50 pound Herter's recurve and fairly well from my 55 pound longbow, but were way too stiff for my 45 pound recurve.

Shoot what works for you. 3Rivers will sell you a sample pack so you can try different spine weights to find the one that works best. They are also a sponsor here. Good luck in your search.

Paul: I in fact shoot and prefer wood, my problem is that there is not depandable people here that could work my arrows and installing broadheads on wood is an art compared with screwing them in a carbon.
I come from shooting a compound for a couple of years and I like trad a lot better.

Sorry, if you have any suggestions, I am all ears.

TKS.

I cannot BELIEVE you guys pulled Paul Brunners comment from this thread!

Surely no one's feelings were hurt by someone having a different OPINION!

Censorship in America!?

If I read it correctly Lawyer wanted some recommendations on carbon arrows and not on if someone thought it was right or wrong to use them. I'm glad his (Paul Brunner) opinion got yanked on this one.
Having said that, most of the time I enjoy reading what Paul has to say.

Paul is Paul, no big deal. The only other comment I would have is that carbons are not that hard to tune, the problem is guys judt do not knopw where to start. They get a 52# high performance recurve and go get some 55/75s and wonder why they cannot tune them. If ya get a shaft that is close to what ya need from tyhe get go, it is not too tough. Shawn

So, would the 5575 Gold Tips spine out at 75-80#s? Or are they a larger span? Like 70-80#?

it depends alot on what how long you want your arrows, draw lenght and how close to center shot the bow is.
i shoot a 58 lb.@ 29 bow and i have to add 225 grains to the front and have them cut to 31 in. i have 2 in. over hang and still have to add 225 plus my bow is really close to center so the 5575's are pretty stiff arrows.

I shoot a Blacktail recurve that is center cut 55#@28", would like to shoot 29-30" arrows w/ 160-190gr heads.
