Danny
That is purty!!
looks like your arrows like it too. nice bow Danny.
NICE!<><
They really make great bows, Danny. I sold two or three in the shop and a friend of mine has owned a couple - great quality and shooting. Enjoy your new bow.
that's one fine bow
Pretty fine Danny. Congrats!
very nice!
WOW!! Very Sweet...
Yowser! Stunning and functional. Good looking grip - looks like it puts the arrow right there on your hand.

I did not get much time to play with here before work today, but yep the grip is fantastic, very positive hand placement shot after shot, and I shot it well for the short time I shot it. I hope to really put her through her paces tomorrow or the next day as I will be off. What really impresses me is how smooth she is, for 58" it feels as smooth as a 64" bow. This one is a keeper for sure.
Danny
Sid and the craftsmen at Border really do know what they are doing. You have a fine looking and I know a marvelous shooting bow.
Welcome to the family of Border owners. :archer:
Pretty...ok, how far back to get that group?
20 yards Woodduck.
Now Sid is teasing me. Tempting me to buy a set of HEXV limbs,LOL. I sent him an email praising the bow and he starts tellng me about the new HEXV limbs, what is a man to do?
Danny
very nice, good luck with it.
I need to shoot one of those.
The lam. birch will suite me well Danny.
Thanks
Stephen
Stephen,
I take it you got them already. Glad they will serve you well.
Danny
Danny, didn't I say that you'd hear the siren song for Hex V limbs? :readit: :) I hear it pretty loud myself. :help: :)
Your riser is drop-dead gorgeous. If I understood Sid correctly, there won't be any more ebony risers from his shop after these are sold.
WOW Danny, That is a beauty for sure :readit: Great shooting too. Congrats
Whewwww! Sweet
Looks like a keeper to me! Nice shooting with that bea-u-tiful bow!!
pretty bow
also quite the target collection
Danny,
Great looking bow. Almost as nice as mine. I am looking forward to getting the HEX5 limbs Sid is making for mine. Great bows and great folks. Going to shoot mine in a 3-D shoot this weekend.
Louis
Nice bow, but what are all those white marks on the rocks from? :knothead: :bigsmyl:
Congratualtions! Borders are the best! Best looking, best shooting, best customer service! In my own completely biased opinion! :)
Aye Laddie, verrrry nice bow you have there.
Danny stop it!! ;) I was perfectly happy with my Ultra with HEXIV limbs and had pushed aside the thought of purchasing another one with the HEXV limbs. But now you go and post photos of the wood combo I was thinking about Shedua/Ebony. Now it is going to be even hard to surpress the urge and if Sid tells me he can make the HEXV form core limbs with Shedua overlays it will be a done deal. Beautiful bow, I am sure you will enjoy shooting it, but you will be buying a set of new limbs shortly. That will be your punishment for posting these photos and forcing me to buy a new bow.
James :bigsmyl:
why did you have to go and post pics of this b-e-a-utiful bow? my wish list of bows keeps getting bigger and bigger. looks like she shoots as good as she looks. :saywhat:
purty purty purty......
What a beaut! I will have to find somewere to shoot one of these.
Good shootin'!
Danny me boy! Bow is almost as pretty as your shooting. :archer:

I'm sure glad I was sitting down when I saw the picture of your bow or I would of fallen over. Enjoy!
Thank you everyone for the comments on my group. But, believe me when I say, all of my groups do not look like that.LOL.Wish they did.
Danny
I wonder if they make LEFTIES!!! :wavey:
That is a beauty for sure.
I thought maybe you got a new kilt or some pipes.
John
Danny, nice, vary nice.
I just found out about Border bows and they sound like a top of the line bow especially with the HEXIV limbs.
Can you tell me more about the bow and why you chose it.
Any numbers on it?
How long did it take to get?
Price range?
Price of extra limbs etc...
David,
I wanted a short riser and that is why I chose the Ultra Super CX. I chose the XP 10 limbs because I wanted a wood finish. The new HEXV limbs are also available with a wood finish and I am gonna order a set soon. As far as price, you can go to Sids site and see for yourself. They ain't cheap but you pay for quality. No more expensive than anyother high end bow.
He had what I wanted in stock so it took a week from the time he got my money till I got the bow, super fast considering it had to come half way around the world to get to me. Course I chose a stock bow, he did not have to make it for me. I do not know how long the wait is if you order custom.
The riser is around $450 and the new HEXV limbs are $500+ with wood core and $700+ with the high tech core.
Danny
Kingwouldbe, the shipping from Scotland isn't cheap. It added over $100 to my bow, although it only took three days. Ted Fry at Raptor Archery (a TG sponsor) is Border's rep in the states. If you get a bow through Ted, the shipping costs are spread across a number of bows which greatly lowers the expense.
Hey, Woody when ya moving to Texas?

When global warming reverses, big time. Hot sure what your reference is...
Danny, thanks for sharing.
I will take a look at those bows. Been hearing a lot about the limbs being quiet.
But it would be hard to get me to stop shooting my Zipper. It's my go-to recurve.
But my ancestors ARE from Scotland!
Maybe someone will get one that's 45# @ 30" and get tired of it.
Beautiful bow, no doubt.
Nakohe, we put it off til there's a chill in the air and frost on the ground. I figure the move will be about the second week of July. Do you think it'll be cooled off by then? :readit: ;) Maybe I'll just duct tape myself to a 25,000 btu a/c unit and sleep til October. :)
You guys should have a hard look at these bows. Eye candy, to be sure, but amazing shooters, too. I hope Pete Ward has his review of a Black Douglas recurve up soon!
I bought three used Borders. One older one, then later two of the newer styles. The last used one I bought had HEX4 limbs which at the time was their top-of-the line limbs. After buying it and shooting it awhile I was so impressed by the way it shot I was convienced to buy a new one, so I sold the first two I bought to finance the new one I wanted to purchase. I bought an end-of-line riser Sid had which turned out to be one of the best looking risers I have ever seen and a set of their new HEX4 W GLX limbs. While waiting for them, which took 12 weeks, I spotted a set of XP30 limbs with bamboo cores Sid was closing out on their web site and purchased them also. The bow some of you saw on an earlier post has become one of my top favorites. The newer HEX4 W GLX limbs turned out to be shorter than I ordered so Sid is replacing them with the newer HEXV W GLX limbs that I am currently waiting for. There are a number of really good shooting recurve bows out there these days and I am here to tell you that the Border Black Douglas is right up there with the best of them. I believe Pete Ward's review will bear that out. They like most of the other high end bows are up there in price. Part of the reason being the devaluation of the US dollar over there and as knife river said the shipping is very expensive. It cost me $80 to get mine here.
I realize that not everybody likes the same things in a bow, especially in the grip area. The grips on the Borders I have owned are a little bit thicker than my other bows, but since I shoot with an open hand I don't have a problem with it. I find no difficulty at all switching from the Border to any of my other bows. It is as fast, smooth, quiet, and forgiving as any bow I have ever shot. There will be one hanging on my bow rack for many years to come.
