I am scheduled for shoulder surgery in two weeks. I may not visit much after that. I think it will tempt me too much too shoot to soon. I am having my rotator and labrum repaired. IThe doc. said that I will be able to shoot again in about 6 weeks, I hope I am ready for the Muzzy in August. Shawn
Hope you have a quick recovery!
Good luck to you Shawn. Jeff
6 weeks? I had a mumford proceedure and it was 6 months before I could shoot a lightweight and a year before a hunting weight bow comfortably.
Good luck with the surgery Shawn, do your physical therapy as told and no more. It really will be better after the surgery.
Good luck Shawn and a quick recovery.
Good luck Shawn. With the PT you'll be back in a short short. Hap
I really hope you are at the Muzzy. I had the same surgery 18 months ago and I was in a restructed sling for at least 6 weeks...couldn't even brush my teeth with my affected arm. Getting back to shooting was a while in coming. I waited to have the surgery after hunting season in Dec. and if I remember correctly I could shoot a lighter weight bow by turkey season. I am a fast healer and was about a month ahead of schedule on my recovery. I wiish you luck and the best advice I can give you is to lilsten to your PT and do what they say to do and no more or no less. Just don't rush anything or you will also miss deer season.
Good luck Shawn.
Good luck and wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery!
Good luck man. If you need anything give me a call, you still have my number?
Bryan
God bless and a speedy recovery to you!
Even though you will be tempted, don't call your physical terrorist....er, therapist, any bad names.
Heal quick but be patient with recovery.
Shawn, Good luck with the surgery and thanks for all the help on arrow tuning lately.
Shawn,Hope it all goes well for ya & we'll be here when you get back!
Good luck Shawn! We'll be pullin for you to have a speedy recovery.
We'll be thinking bout ya Shawn, heal fast and do what the Doc says Buddy. Doug
Listen to your rehab folks when you get there. Doing it properly speeds up the rcovery process.
Shawn,
We'll be praying for you. Hope the surgery goes well and that you'll be a good therapy patient. If so, your recovery will go as quick as possible.
Bill
this is the case where the doctor knows best-take the time necessary to heal and reconstruct properly. I had a cyst removed and I could not even pull 25#, but within a couple weeks I was on my way back up. If you do it right you don't damage any more tissue. Good luck
Good luck Shawn, and listen to the doc!
Shawn,
Joe and i wish you a speedy recovery, and are still looking forward to getting together for some chuck hunting when your up to it. Don't be tempted to shoot too soon it could screw you up for a lot longer period. Keep in touch, you'll be fine.
6 weeks seems awful quick.be careful. Most guys I know who have had rotator cuff work have been in a sling for 4-6 weeks and out of shooting for 6 months.Good luck.
CB
Good Luck Shawn, I will keep you in my prayers for a quick and complete recovery.
Dave
Good luck Shawn
F-Manny
Good luck buddy! I hope all goes well for you! Listen to the docs!!
Good Luck, Shawn! And Prayers for a speedy recovery.
Thanks guys, I am amazed by ya all. I have a slight tear in the rotator and the labrum is not good. My daughter had the same surgery and was pretty much back to her old self in two months. I hope you guys are wrong about the healing as my doctor told me I would be back to shooting my 55-60# bows by the Muzzy. I am sticking with 48-52#s when this thing is done. I appreciate all your thoughts. It will be done two weeks from today, so I will be on here a lot until than!! Shawn
God Bless Ya Shawn!!! ... Things will go good for you so long as you listen to the doctor ... Hey - If you can't shoot at the Muzzy you can always sell hot dogs or something!!!
... mike ... :wavey: ...
I wish you good luck & speedy recovery, if nothing else you will be ready for deer season!
Wishing you a fast recovery Shawn !!
Shawn,
All the best for a speedy & rapid recovery. Greg studied sports med. in school. He's saying don't rush the recovery time.
Again,
All best wishes & a few prayers thrown in for good measure too.
Larry & Greg
Shawn...good luck but trust me, don't rush it. Your shoulder will definately be weaker and you can re-damage it by attempting to shoot too soon.
After this type of surgery, you'll notice that bows in the 48-54# weights will be more than enough. Follow the excerise program religiously and you will SLOWLY regain strength but you will never be 100%.
Good luck Shawn and I will be praying for your full and speedy recovery.
Donald
Shawn,
Best of luck my friend. Hope you have the speediest, easiest recovery possible...
Doc says: Get it done and don't rush the come back! Oh Yea...Good Luck, I want to see you shootin' bunnies...Doc
Hey Shawn,
I know this has been bugging you for ahwile, but I think that getting it done and done right is the proper thing to do. Good luck and like all have said, don't rush it.......heck, if you can't shoot by Muzzy, you can always be my "arrow caddy"! :D
Take care my friend,
David
Shawn,
Best of luck on a speedy recovery!!!
Take Care, Bill
Take care Shawn. Hurry back when your better.
Joe.
God Speed!!! I injured my shoulder a year and a half ago and am just really getting back to the ole stick and string... It was quite a scare...
Contrary to what D.I.s' say about, "pain being weakness leaving the body..." I learned that God gave us pain-to stop us from doing to many dumb things, so if it hurts...don't do it!!!
Good Luck Shawn and again do what the doctors tell you I fractured my pelvis and went out on a 3-d shoot a week later against doctors orders and I am still paying the price so tkae your time and make sure youare ready before you start pulling any bow God Bless Delin
Best of luck with the surgery and a speedy recovery!
Thanks again ever4yone. I will do my best to be good, but it will be tough. My wife says I should keep up with the site rather than walk away for a while. She said you guys and gals will be my best therapy!! Now I just have to learn to typeone-handed and lefty! :bigsmyl: :help: Shawn
Shawn,
Good luck on the surgery and recovery. I had that surgery a few years ago and although it took some time and effort on my part, my shoulder healed and is probably stronger than it was before. My family will keep you in our prayers.
Frank
Good luck anda fast recovery. Type one handed? you could always get a voice program and just talk...either way, hope ya stick around and wish you the best. If ya need anything, let me know.
I know what you are going through. I had my labrum fixed on Feb 1 and had to have another surgery on May 31 to remove an anchor that had backed out and to remove some scar tissue.I start therapy tomorrow and hope on the road to recovery. If I had it to do over again, I would insisted on titanium anchors tohold the labrum to the bone while it healed. I am the second person to have the dissolving anchors come loose. GOOD LUCK BOB STAGER
Shawn, hope every thing gos good and like many said do not rush it,Please keep up with the site and good luck my friend...ED
Melinda and I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.
