When I went to Vermont awhile back, I took my selfbow cause that's what I had. I've never been able to shoot it accurately consistantly. When I shot Dave's and Doc's bows, I was a little more accurate. Then Dave pointed out a flaw in my tempo and form, and that helped. With my selfbow the more I shot, the more erratic I got. We determined that it could be the fact that she looses power the longer she's strung.
Being that these guy's hearts are as big as can be, they got together and sent me a bow. Dave tried to swap his Shrew, which he just got and has not been able to shoot due to his surgery, and which Doc fell in love with, to Doc for a bow for me. Doc decided to just send me a bow which he had. Wouldn't take anything from Dave or me. Folks, it's a Kota Badlands, 58" and 40#@27. She's in perfect condition. Osage limbs and looks like Bacote handle.
My first group (of mix-matched arrows) looked like this:

The second Aluminium turned the target and the last woodie almost robinhooded the one before it.
Cool thats what I really love about this site. The people are so helpful and generous. :clapper:
Wow! I had to look again because I didn't notice that other arra the first time. That's what gives you that great feeling inside: when your shooting comes together. I think I'll go outside and launch a few, then do a little work on my floor-tillered mulberry stick.
Hey, uh....Dave & Doc....I've been realllly needing a 58" r/d longbow.....it, uh, would prolly would held my form a lot. ;)
I meant HELP my form. Come to think of it, my form would look great with a 58"er in profile! :archer:
Donate $2000 to the St Jude's auction and we'll find something for you. :D
Yep, finer fellers you'll never come across. Good on ya Dave and Doc!
Forget the bow, I would settle for what is in those baskets!!!!!! LOL!!!!
Come on down Brian and I'll make sure you get fed right.
I bet we could get thrown out of an all you could eat buffet for eating too much. We might have to test that theory some time. LOL!!!
That is known as my house and thus far no one has been able to eat it all when we do it up.
Brian, if you ever travel down thata way, I'd like the oppertunity to meet you there. Some good things have started there!!
I don't know when I will be there, but I might get a chance to go to Cabela's in Wheeling when I visit my family in WV this fall. If I do, maybe we could meet there. It would be about half way for both of us.
David, ONE DAY BUDY,ONE DAY!!
That's only about 2 hrs for me and I have friends who hunt in that area. That would be a real good way for us to hook up. Cabelas it is!!
Oh My...looks like a Cabelas trip this fall! I need to shake the hand of my Knife Sheath Maker Extraordinaire :) Doc
I would really enjoy that Doc. I leave for a short trip to Toronto late tonight, but when I get back, MY TIPPIT KNIFE is getting a special sheath. Still trying to decide on a design.
LOL Congrats
Can I ride with you Doc?
Absolutely!
Are you guys flexible on the day???
I won't know for sure when I will be there for a month or so yet. I would REALLY enjoy meeting you ALL. IF this happens, you do know we will probably get arrested. LOL!!!
Well we know you will! ROTFL
Spell it out Brian, we'll make it work.
It will probably be sometime the week before or after thanksgiving. I WILL FIND OUT AND LET YOU GUYS KNOW!!!
Wasn't this thread about a bow?? LOL!!!
About family actually. The bow is just window dressing.
