Title: WIFE GOT HER QUINN COMET YESTERDAY
Post by: TSHOOTER on May 30, 2007, 07:17:00 AM
After several helpful suggestions from you all I ordered my wife a Quinn Comet from Quinn's Archery.  Peggy at Quinn's Archery proved very friendly and knowledgable. The bow I ordered was not in stock but they manufactured it and shipped it to me in under 2 weeks as promised.  I put it together last evening and as light was fading the whole family took turns testing it out.  Even with no shelf rest and untuned arrows it shoots where you point it and is very smooth to draw.  The bow appears to be very well made and best of all my wife said its just what she wanted.  Now she says she wants some "gulp" SIGHTS.  I guess I better start  practicing!!  :bigsmyl:    :bigsmyl:

They are very well made bows. If she wants sites, get them for her. SMall price to pay for a shooting partner.

The Quinns make a great bow!  One of the best out there IMHO.  Will out shoot ALOT of high dollar customs bows.
Congratulations to your wife on a great new bow and to you on your shooting partner.
Nothing wrong with sights.  If fact, if more beginning archers started with sights on their bows, they would have half the form issues they have now!

Certainly one of the best buys for the money on the market.

I am going to get my wife one soon.We have been trying different weight bows and have decided on a 35# bow. I've talked to the Quinn's and all I have to do is decide if I want the Comet XL riser or the Stallion riser. I am thinking maby the Stallion because the shoots we go to you have to shoot off the shelf.

Would it be very hard to build up and radius the shelf on the Comet to get good flight off the shelf?

Just cut a woodie in half and cover it with a rug. Instant radiused shelf.

Very easy to build the shelf up. Many of the recurves years ago came with flat shelves, we simply glued on shaped pieces of wood, or what ever and glued some leather over it.

A couple of thin peices of leather each successivly smaller glued to the shelf with a piece of velcro added over the whole thing makes a great radiused shelf as well. Shawn
