Title: Salt Lick Recipe
Post by: Jim Jackson on May 24, 2007, 06:48:00 PM
I have been using trace mineral blocks for a couple of years now.  I went out to refresh a few of them, and noticed that the ground underneath the remnants is where the focus has been of late.  I recall people sharing their own mix recipes to pour onto a stump or in a wallowed area.  Couldn't find any when I used the search engine here.  Just wondering what everyone else has done with salt mixes.   Thanks.

I have used trace mineral and the salt blocks for cows with good results. I usually will break up the blocks and mix it up., then put it in a depression in the ground ( can be manmade ). After a few rains it starts being hit pretty regular.

Old stump and a bag of softener salt.  That salt will soak into the stump and they will be eaten' it for years to come.  Works good. dino
