I am getting ready to order up my first ever carbon arrows tomorrow. I have about gone through the aluminums shafts I currently have and with the the knowledge learned here have decided that this neophite needs to try out the indestructable carbon tubes.
These are my set ups: 1) a no name laminated longbow HH style that states 50#@28" that I mainly shoot, and 2) an older Herters recurve of 43#@28". The arrows my local shop keeper suggested are the Goldtip 35/55. For those of you in the know that have experience with longbows and carbons is that a good match?
Thank you.
I think those should work for you. If they seem too stiff you can go with the 100 gr. brass inserts to soften them up. I shoot the 35/55 goldtips out of a 51# recurve with 100 gr. brass inserts and 145 gr field points and they fly great.
DO NOT CUT THEM!!!! You will probably need to leave them full length. When and if you do cut them to tune, only cut 1/4" at a time. Have fun!
