Title: St. Length for 62 in.Shawnee Arapaho
Post by: Steelhead on May 16, 2007, 02:04:00 PM
Was curious if anyone knows the  actual string lenght for a shawnee Arapaho recurve.Bow is 62 inches.I am lookin for the length the string is after you take it off of the bow from end of loop to end of loop(when loops are straightened out) when the bow is at the recommended brace hieght range. Thanks in advance for the specs if you know.Shoot straight.

59"

The AMO measurement of a bow is the length of the string it takes to brace it properly plus 3".  Not all Bowyers follow this standard unfortunately.  I am pretty sure Bob does though.

Thanks for the post Brian.Anyone else? The reason i am asking for actual string length at the proper brace hieght range is I dont like too many twists in my string.Ofcourse I dont want it too short as well.Kinda picky. But the devils in the details.

Bob's "stock" strings for his recurves are 2.5" shorter than the bow length.  That's a pre-stretched string measured under tension.  I've never measured one without tension--probably close to 3" shorter.

LBR's kinda humble...he makes them for Bob Morrison, and builds a heckuva string...just PM or email him and have one built!!

His DF97's are very nice, and great attention to detail and whatever spec's you need.

Take Care,
Marc
