I'm curious what the ratio of Longbow shooter to Recurve shooter is. You may own both, but which one do you shoot the most? How long have you owned them?
I have both and I shoot them in spurts. I'll shoot my RER Vortex for awhile then I'll shoot My RER t/d or my RER Arroyo, then back to the Vortex and so on. This week it's the Vortex.
Longbow only switched last fall.
Gee, was a recurve, then a longbow, then a number of selfbows, now it's a recurve with a few shots from my selfbows thrown in every now and then....clear as mud ain't it?
David
all recurve, except for one really accurate hickory selfbow
Primarily recurve...
mostly recurve with a splash of longbow.
Recurve.
longbow now was recurve but hey new bow. and another two comming :biglaugh:
Own both. I have had my recurve for years, but never shot it because I didn't see the alure. I was a wheelie man. I recently switched to a longbow after I made it myself. Now I prefer the longbow, then the recurve, then the compound. Lets just say I have been bitten by the Trad Bug.
Started with a longbow 37 years ago. Like shooting recurves but longbows are my true passion.
RECURVE!!! Had a longbow but had too much hand shock and got rid of it. I'll just stick with a recurve.
Recurve only. I've never even shot a long bow. Haven't had any desire to.
Shoot longbows almost exclusively, and have for a long time, but I always keep a recurve or two in the stable.
One stick one string shape/design unimportant.Mostly longbow, recurve has better "feel" to bow hand but seem to be more accurate with longbow.
I shoot both but, I hunt with my Bob Lee
recurve.
Recurve for me..
I have a longbow but the recurve feels more comfortable...
Selfbows with a splash of Longbows.
I started with recurves, went to longbows only, and just bought a recurve the weekend. Here's my plan. From the end of hunting season through about June, I'm going to shoot longbows only. From July through hunting season I'll use the recurve. I better get another for backup.
Good plan Carl! I have the same sort of plan for my two BW recurves. The PMAII for 3D (Jan - Aug) and the MAIII 1 Piece for hunting (Sep - Jan). Maybe I should buy a back up too... ;)
Oh, sorry! Recurves for me. :p
Been shooting recurves since I was 11 in 1975. I've owned and shot a few longbows over the years but my passion has always been the glass laminated recurve. Probably cause that is what Fred Bear liked and that was what my first "REAL" bow was - a 1975 Bear Black Bear - 60" AMO, 48#@28", all rock maple with black glass. Still hunt with it from time to time too. It currently sports a Real Tree Advantage Dura Coat. Still shoots like a dream even though it has dropped @ 6# of draw weight over the years. :archer:
Started with recurves about 20 years ago been shooting longbows for about 5 years just like the way they feel.
With both..........
98% recurve...2% longbow...
Man o man. I wish I had the choice to shoot a longbow or recurve any day. I have two recurves. I was bitten by the bug last November and got a recurve, then my fiance's grandfather's Bear glass limb recurve. I shot a longbow at Bass pro, a guy who worked there happened to be shooting and let me shoot his. NICE. I want a longbow now. Smooth. I really want one. I want to get a pure longbow and a reflex/deflex one, kinda get the best of both worlds.
RECURVE RECURCE RECURVE!!
Been shootin curves, longbows and hybrids about the same amount the last few years.I like em all.If had to shoot just 1 though it would be a classic D shaped longbow, narrow limbed, deep core in a 1 piece about 66 to 68 inches long.Thats always been the style bow my hearts drawn to.Its all good though!
Exclusively longbows for quite some time now, but some of these are hybrids.
Have owned recurves in the past, just prefer a longbow. Been shooting longbows now for eight years.
Been shooting a recurve exclusively for the past seven years or so even though I shot a longbow better when I started. I just liked the looks, the feel and the genius of a longbow bowyer designing a recurve all those years ago. Now, I have just ordered a 64", 61# Border Griffin GL! I suspect I will shoot and like them both in equal measure-why choose? :)
You can't deny the heritage that follows the longbow their is just somthing sexy and simple in there apperance, but, for me its a recurve.Jonesy
Like most,started w/recurves but now I prefer longbows.---Bone
both
started with longbow and killed with longbow but just found out that I shoot ALOT better and more consistent with a Bob Lee recurve so that's what I'm sticking with.
Started with a longbow for about 6 months, and was very frustrated. Switched to a recurve and I have been shooting it for 2 years. My shooting has greatly improved. I just bought a new longbow to give I try. I figure I might do alot better since I have about 2 1/2 years experence shooting traditional bows now.

LONGBOW....
Saxon & Howard Hill
2 longbows, hers and mine. Have a recurve, but shoot LB 95% of the time
I shoot both about equal. But I mainly hunt with a longbow.
Selfbow and since a couple of weeks longbow.
I have a short recurve that I shoot 1% of the time
F-Manny
Longbow. I just prefer a simpler, lighter bow.
R/D longbow and selfbow.
I mainly shoot recurves and have for years, but I also enjoy the new R/D longbows. I currently don't have one but am looking.
Selfbows 80% Longbow 10% recurve 10% :D :D :D
LB only
Longcurve anyone?
I shoot 'em all -ain't no preference thang.
80% long bow (r/d laminated) 20% recurve I am rebuilding a 72" self bow so stats may change in a week.
recurve
recurve
Mostly selfbows for me. But I just acquired a Widow recurve  All I can say is that I'm definitely TRAD!
Terry
Bill Price Longbow
Charlie Brown
longbow
Longbow only now, except for bowfishing, I still shoot an old mamba for that.

Currently selling my recurve which I never really used(shameless plug for my ad ). The speed was fantastic but there's something I like better about the longbow. I have two of them. Oh yeah, they are easier to string.
It's interesting that it is almost dead even! That is if you put those that shoot most of the time with one bow or the other.
I have two longbows and one recurve...I like longbows best though.
longbows- have recurves and shoot them well, but love the feel of the longbow
LB most of way for me. except my bowfishing bow - its a curve...
I own and shoot both, but my favorite bows are my Howard Hill big Fives. So i consider myself Long bowman.
I like em both. I'd say recurve by a nose.
longbow
I shoot the recurve better but the longbow has always been my favorite.
There is something about shooting a longbow that I can feel all the way to my soul.
longbow
85% hybrid,15% recurve. Hunting- the Vortex goes- although a '64 grizzly will get some woods time this fall as well.
LB
Bayoulongbowman!!! Da...a longbow ...ya think!! :saywhat: :saywhat: :wavey:
Longbow, off the hand. But I have a R/D with shelf coming
LONGBOW!!!
I have both a longbow and a recurve but my favorite boasts the best of both worlds a 3 piece radical r/d that combines all the best of both designs but does it really matter? shoot what you love and stay traditional.
LONGBOW
Longbow! This Jan. I switched from a compound after 20 years.....Not sure what I was waiting for?
Northern Mist Superior 66' 58#
Longbow right now. I beleive both longbows and recurves have there benefits. Longbow seems more forgiving and quiet. Recurve seems to create more energy for casting heavy arrows. I've been shooting recurves and longbows for 30 years. To each their own personal preference. I like both and see the benefits and shortcomings of both.
RECURVE
Im a longbow kinda guy, but I can be found with a 'curve in hand from time to time...
Ok, the longbow guys pulled ahead in the stretch! But not by much.
