Yep,did it kinda like the bingham plan with the strait belly riser, then glued the grip overlays on with most of the bulbs in the box unscrewed.Worst prob I had on this one was makin the transition from the riser fades to the limbs and still get a good line on the limb.My geometry skills are basic,to say the least!

That is definately black walnut....i'm in process of milling a bunch of lams out of the stuff myself.....you should see the colors in the branch wood! I'm a real fan of the stuff myself.....very nice looking bow! is that osaga lams in the riser?

How would you classify the style Kenny? Is that a R/D long bow? a recurve?....or what everyone refers to as a Hybrid? i really like the lines of the profile a lot!....do you have a photo of it strung?

Kirk

Kirk, thats hickory in the riser. Sorry I didn't answer back sooner, been plantin soybeans.
I guess I'd call it a hybrid longbow, dunno? Heres a pic of it strung and full draw (27" for him last time we checked a year ago!)

The limbs look kinda funny in that full draw one, they look a lot better in person!

I'm interrested in the technique used to glue the rest of the riser on after initial glue up.  How do you clamp it on.  Doesn't it slide all over when you put the pressure on.

I see that Toelke does his "whip" longbow this way and I like how it looks.  Centaur also does it.  Thanks,  Chad

I make sure the overlay is the same width as the riser, glue it, wrap it with saran wrap, put a couple clamps with blocks on the other way first, then clamp as usual, loosening the 1st clamps a bit as ya go. Hope that  ain't as confusing sounding as I think it is.........
