Which do you prefer and why?
I prefer the tie on. They don't tear up my gloves and tabs like the brass ones do. I also think I get a little cleaner release with the tie on.
Tie on! The metal ones are hard to adjust, plus they wear out my index finger. With a tie on (I use B-50) you can just twist it up or down the serving to tune your bow. It also looks more trad (IMHO). Tie on also costs next to nothing.
Tie on,, for tunning my bow I just twist it up and down the string and it follows the serving like its a threaded bolt,, and the tear on your glove isn't worth it. I tie a decent size ontop and a smaller one on bottom. I use the same material that I serve my strings with.
Anuther for tie on here.
tie on
Tie on here too.
Tie on..don't seem to move as easly.
Tie on (less wear on my tab, potentially less stress on string if not applied properly, and cheaper).
gonna give tie on a try, currently brass
I switched to tie-on a few years ago upon the urging of Steve Gorr. He felt the metal nock was not only tough on your glove, but it was also noiser.
Even though I could not tell the difference in noise, he insisted the metal against plastic has an audible "click" to it.
I guess if Steve can hear it, so could a deer.
I'll be the odd man out. I've tried tie-on nock sets but never really cared for them. For me, the brass ones are so easy and effective I can't imagine not using them.
i am going to be different i use tie ons LOL!!!
I do a little of each. I don't glue my tie-ons down once I have them set, and I have had one or two move on me. Of course, that's happened with the brass as well when I don't squeeze them tightly enough.
Tie-On, because it dosen't wear on my glove.
Tie-on it's easier to tune.
They still make brass nocks? Tie ons for me.
Uh, tie on...'cause I do what every one else is doing.
I use the individual strings from an old endless loop bow string. I have lots of 'em since I've switched to flemish strings on all my bows.
Brass.
Brass here also.
What knot are you guys using for your tie-ons?
JUST went to tie on 1 above 1 below love it

Garry, try this link..it might be of assistance.
I went to tie on when I started shooting traditional.I tie on 1 above and 1 below for me it just looks more traditional and no wear and tear on tabs or gloves.
I personally like the tie on. I have had two strings fail at the nock set using the brass ones. I don't know if I crimped them too tight or what but I've never had a string failure with a tie on.

Tie on.
Tie on.
Tie-On, no wear on glove and more traditional to me.
Forgive my ignorance. What is a tie-on nock? How is it done?
Brass. My tieing skills aren't that great but I can work a clamp. :) I shoot three under so glove wear isn't an issue.
Where do you get Tie On Nocks????
Have used both and still do depending on my mood.
Naphtali, a tie on nock is just a piece of floss, serving, thread or whatever that you tie on to your string for a nock point for your arrows.
Tie-on, but they do ware out. and once set that it until you put on a new one.
brass my tie ons wear out after about a week shootin 3 under?????????
I use a brass nock when first tuning the bow because I find it easier to move around than a tie on. After tuning, I remove the brass nock and put a very small and thin tie-on on the serving. Sometimes, if I use a light colored serving (make my own strings), I'll just use a waterproof ink nock (no nock at all).
Tabs and gloves, as mentioned previously, tend to wear more with brass nocks. I also think you might roll the string more when releasing.

I shoot three under. I'm trying out a brass nock on top with a tie-on underneath (not glued). So far, I like it. No... really.
what i do with my tie ons is epoxy them and they last just as long as brass nocks.
Ray's link on page 2 explanes how to do it...I'm currently using either B50 or just regular serving. The B50 has the advantage of being a different color so it's easier to see. I have also used dental floss.
I did the tie on, one over, one under. I used a brass nock set till I found the right spot. I tied the bottom one first, took the brass off, nocked an arrow, then tied the top one. I took the arrow off the string once I had the the top one started.
I had an "old hand" tell me that a brass nock set "will make yer bow mad".
I'm sure it's easier on the string, glove and the nocks. I think it's a little quieter too. Thanks for the input guys.
I use the tie on, just like Charlie's How-to. It makes the string so much more comfortable on your fingers. It is also aesthetically pleasing as it sort of blends with the string rather than just having a large "bump" there.
Brass isn't traditional enough for me.

I prefer tied on, above and below. Sometimes just a couple bumps with floss, sometimes with serving thread. When I use the serving thread I extend enough above and below to cover the area my fingers contact the string.
Steve
I prefer tie-on. I have used serving material and even dental floss with good luck. I like the colored floss for contrast ;-)
Dan
I also prefer a tie-on nock. Mostly because I like to have a nock on top and below my arrow and two brass nocks set up like that just looks ugly.
