Has anyone out there taken an existing bow cut it in half drilled it out and installed a take down bolt in it? If so how hard was it and did it look good and work well? What did you use to epoxy it in with?
Hey Tim
I'm sure someone has but if you look at how a TD bow is made, the hardware is normally mounted in the bow very securely as the bow is made. I would be real careful if trying to modify a one piece bow into a two piece bow. Make sure it is a very tight and strong joint. Think there was a Pearson? TD with a metal dovetailed type joint made a while back. Something like that joint might work, if you can find one.

Look at the Robertson Connexion or the Craig Bow Bolt...the bow bolt is a slick design, but I've heard from many the Connexion is the easiest to retrofit.
Search or look in the buildalong area, someone did a bow bolt on a bow...his website might even have the steps...
Ancient Spirits might be offering this service with the Bow Bolt...not sure if they ever started this or not.
If you look on the Warren Archery site he gives instructions on how to retrofit a bow with the bow bolt.
I'll check these sites out. Thanks guys...
the Robertson hinge is really easy to install, I have done it with only a driller, and no problem ... so far!
Pick up the current Backwoodsman. A guy in there made a homemade hinged bow.
