Either

I use Knox gelatin (get it at your grocery store), one or two packets is enough but keep extra handy in case ou run out.

Depends on how thick.  8 whitetail leg tendons will give you 2 layers which is a minimum to get it to really work.

I like the leg tendons on Elk, one because the are readilly available to me and two the are long enough to cover a bow quiclky and short enough to really pull some reflex into a bow..... Here's how I harvest and prepare my sinew...   "Sinew Harvest and Prep" (http://bowyersworkshop.com/sinewharvest1.htm)
And here's how I apply sinew to the bow...   "Sinew Backing a Bow" (http://bowyersworkshop.com/sinew.html)  And here's a pic and some tips for applying a snakeskin (or Rawhide) Over your sinew Backing   "Snakeskin over Sinew" (http://bowyersworkshop.com/snakesin.htm)

Good Luck and share some pics of your project..... Terry
