I was wondering as far as B50 Dacron Strings,
How do you determine or what is recommended strand counts..
I have typically bought in stock 16 Strand B50 Dacron Strings?
A 16 strand Dacron is pretty thick. I usually will go 12 strands for up to 55 lbs. 16 strands would be good for 70 lbs +
There is a tensile rating per strand. Someone will tell us what it is. Usually you find strings made in 15,16, and 18 strands. 16 will handle everything up to about 65lbs and 18 strands over that. I shoot 70lbs and use 18 strand. Alot has to do with stretch too. I think less strands gets you more stretch.
B-50 breaking strenght is 49# per strand.
Rule of thumb in stringmaking is to use at least that amount of strands which will give you 4x your draw weight. Saver and more recommended is 6x
In ANY case you don't have to worry about number of strands, I suppose!? Use whatever fits your nocks and your style of shooting.
Last week I made a string from 222 strands! :readit: About then you'll start to scratch your hand and get confused with counting! Trust me!
