Never tried fingernail clippers. Hmmm...do I sever the string above or below the nock?      ;)
I HATE brass string nocks! I usually work them over with two pairs of pliers until they give up the ghost. I will see if I can develop a fingernail clipper technique. Might as well use them for something, seeing as I have no fingernails!  :D

I spread the open end with the blade of a screwdriver by twisting it open.

DON'T use a little cutoff wheel in a dremel tool!   :scared:
Ask me how I know.  I was very careful not to nick the string, but the heat got to it.
From then on, it's dental thread for my nocking points.

Get a Tru-fire universal crimpint tool.  A little more expensive, but worth every penny.

I somehow wound up with two pairs of the crimping pliers and I hate brass nocks.  I usually just used two pairs of regular pliers and pulled them apart.

I love brass nocks myself! Crimp them down slightly and you can spin them up or down while you are shooting and adjusting the height, then crimp it down all the way and they usually stay putt pretty good. To remove them is easy with the right tool....about $3.00 i belive will buy you a set of nock pliers.... I must admitt...not having a set would make things a bit more difficult....kinda like doing a brake job with regular pliers And a screw driver and no brake tools.....it CAN be done.....But why???????

Very carfully. I just cut the string on my Widow in half. Needless to say it scared the #%$#@ out of me when it gave way and the bow jumped out of my lap.

Going to order that tool listed above as soon as i post this.

Not sure of the name, but I got a set of nock pliers from Lone Wolf that has a very simple and effective remover built in.  Probably the same one mentioned above--works great, definately worth the money.

I switch between tied on nocks and brass.  Brass is just too quick and convenient for me to give up.

I have one brass nock in my tool kit. I use it to tune in my bow, then when I've found the spot, it goes straight back in the toolbox with the crimping pliers and I use dental floss or serving thread for my permanent nock. Nothing cuts up a glove or tab like a brass nock.
