Decided to head out this evening for a little fish stickin!!! Hit a couple of holes, in a local conservation area, along the Mo River. Don't have any flood water here close...YET, but I did see some north of here about an hour, around Chillicothe, Mo! I ended up with 5 dead fish...3 common carp, one nice buffalo, and one skinny gar! Stringer weighed over 25#, without the gar! Big fish was 7.6#.
53# Black Widow MAII...same bow I use for EVERYTHING!!!
Muzzy fish arrow and Muzzy Gar point
AMS Retriever reel with Muzzy line
AMS safety slide
Cheap $10 polarized fishin glasses!!!

Buffalo was 6.2#

Skinny targets are harder to hit!!!

There's a fun way to spend some time. Good shooting. We need more bowfishing threads.

Good shootin.
 now you got me pumped! thanks for sharing.
Hey... a gar fish!! I have been wanting to get a hold of a jaw (with teeth) from one of those little buggers. Could I convince you to spare a gar jaw for me. I am not sure if it would be best to send it raw and frozen or to clean it up a bit and dry it. I would be willing ot compensate you if I can.
Isaac
"fish sticks" So they really do make them from carp;) I knew it all along :biglaugh: Good shooting. It sure is a blast to go after the big uglys. Cheers, Matt

Very nice. I wish the water level in the local river would drop so I could get out and introduce some fiberglass to a few carp.
Cool. Looks like some good eatin'. Especially the buffalo  :clapper: ...Van

Find some flood water...Have heard a ton of reports of folks killin fish all over central Mo!!! I'm headed to Eagle Bluff's C.A. tomorrow afternoon, if'n the big crik isn't too high...lol
So is Carp good eating, always heard them were trash fish (no offence). I pass on carp all the time because I don't want to waste the meat (no eat - no kill rule in effect)
Bill
Hey Fis Shooter...can we get a pic of your bowfishing setup???
Bill

I guess whatever works best/easiest for you. I will take them either way. I mainly need the jawbone with the teeth in it. I am doing a lecture for the State Historical Society (Wisconsin) in July on tattoos of the fur trade. I have a few historical references to gar teeth being used for the "needles" and I would like to have one to show the crowd.
I will be out of town for the weekend, but if you email me, waltei@btsd.k12.wi.us , we can discuss a trade when I get back.

There aren't any pics of tattoos on French-canadian voyageurs although the MANY desriptions of them, basically state that they are like those that the natives were getting (most were done by the natives) and some were of Christian motifs. I DO have lots of images of natives with tats as well as a few images of 17th and 18th century tats of Christian design that pilgrims to the Holy Land were getting. I have them all compiled in a PowerPoint presentation. If you like, I can burn a copy to a CD and send it to you.

Cool - I work with the guy that has the record bow killed carp for ??? I forget if it just Wi or the states. Humongous! He had it mounted. You would never believe the area he shot it. Not even on a map.
