My friend just ordered his first bow. Its 55# at his 31inch draw. Can anyone give me some suggestions on a good carbon shaft for that lengthy draw? According to gold tips spine chart its right on the border of the 5575's and the 7595's. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
He probably is right on the border,he could probably go either way.It would also depend on the type of bow recurve or longbow, riser cut past center or to center or off center would come into play also.He might try a Beman ICS hunter 340 or another 340 which is in between a 55/75 and a 75/95.Just a suggestion.
i would say the 55-75 for a 55# bow i have 35-55 for my48#bow and they go great. ilove em
I shoot 57# @ 32" and Beman ICS 340's with regular inserts and 25-grain heads work perfectly. Just as a point of clarification, Gold Tip 7595's spine at .340.
Shooting 58#s @ 31" Silvertip recurve, I shoot the beman ics hunter 400s full length (32"s) with 100 gr. inserts and 125-150 gr. heads and the fly great. The 340s were too stiff. Bought some camo 400s and they were too stiff also. Make sure you find out how long the bare shafts are before ordering, I pull past my anchor a bit and need 32". Don't think the gold tip 55/75s are that long. Hope this helps.
I appreciate the replys guys. It definitely helped out to see what others are shooting in similar set ups. thanks
