I bought first a Dalaa and then a used Gen II DAS bow for two primary reasons. The inherent accuracy for which it is reknowned and so I would get out of the endless bow buying/selling business.
I accomplished what I wanted to a certain extent. But to an even greater extent I didn't. I have sold the Dalaa since I bought the Gen II bow. I've sold the Win&Win Winex limbs that came on the Gen II bow and have bought, that reads paid for, a set of Border HexIV limbs which are presently on the bow, a set of Samick Extreme limbs which are due any day now, and a set of Border HexV-H limbs which are due in 9 to 13 weeks. I presently have invested in my one bow $775 for the riser, $40 for the SRF B sight, $40 for the E Adapter plate, $365 for the Border HexIV limbs, $375 for the Samick Extreme limbs (used), and $717 for the Border HexV-H limbs which I have on order. That comes to a tidy little sum of $2,312.00! That's insane! Either that or I'm bordering, no pun intended, on insanity.
So, I did something today that is probably even more insane, but nonetheless it is done. I've bought a new Fox Royal Crown D/R longbow, Zebrawood/Shedua riser, Bamboo limbs, 62" long, 50#@28". And to pay for it I'm selling the Gen II riser and everything that goes with it, even the limbs I have yet to receive. I will be listing them in the Classifieds.

Bill, It seems your bow buying sickness is coming out of remission.
Get a hold of yourself Man!!
Stop the insanity!!
..but wait a few minutes before you get control, I need to check and see if I want to sell any bows....
Sounds like fun Bill, keep enjoying your passion.
Wow...There's a bunch of fancy words in that middle paragraph and a dollar amount to match!
Sounds to me like you're getting your sanity back!! :biglaugh:
Still cheaper & better for you than a drug habit! :D

LeRoy,
If you'll count up the number of limb sets I've had with the Gen II riser and take into account the fact I sold the Dalaa, too, you will see it never went away to begin with!!
Bill
I would have to sell a bow to pay for a new place to stay if my wife found out that I had spent that kind of money on bows.LOL
Bill, just curious why you made the switch from the DAS/Dalaa and ILF limbs, back to wooden bows...and a longbow, no less...
Look on the bright side - At least you won't be able to buy new limbs for the Fox bow! :p Think of all the money you are going to save by not having to buy new limbs. I look at this as a way to save money in the future!
We all need to do everything we can to justify our addictions. Am I helping? :D

Cutty,
To be honest, my primary reason for going to metal risers was so I could shoot with a release. They're pre-drilled and tapped for plungers/rests, sights and stabilizers. I've switched back to shooting fingers and have bought a large bottle of Ibuprofen for my arthritic fingers! :)
I've been a bit disenchanted with the peep sight that I use with the SRF sight. When I switched back to shooting fingers, I quit using the peep and SRF sights.
Then as I stated above, I got to contemplating how much I had invested in my toys and came to the conclusion that I would be better off shooting a wooden riser bow and selling the DAS and the three ILF limb sets.
Some may not understand my logic, but my pocket book does! I turned 60 in January and retirement is not far down the road. I can't justify the DAS and ILF limb sets to myself, let alone my wife.

And I was wantin to see what $717 limbs looked like!!!! Since they was coming from Scotland do they come in tartan camo?
In a serious note is that the Fox model that Larry Yien uses? I have a picture of his bow and it is awesome.

No, but they do have a muted brown camo that Sid uses for hunting.

I am a licensed psychotherapist. I can help you. No money necessary; payment in bows is fine! :) (Oh, in the interest of full disclosure I should mention that I have a Border BD Swift and just bought a Border Griffin GL...er...oh yeah! I am going to buy the HEXV limbs too with the wood veneers! Doesn't mean I can't help YOU though-bring your bows)!! :)

How come you are selling all your nice TD Recurve stuff and going with a Longbow?
I would like to see some pics of that Fox longbow. I looked on their site and couldn't find a bow named the Royal Crown. Am I looking in the right place?

Nala,
Neither the Royal Crown or the Triple Crown is on their website. It hasn't been updated since Ron designed and built those two bows. Larry Yien helped with the design of the Triple Crown. It is D/R, but has a D-shape when strung and is IFAA and IBO legal. The Royal Crown still has a bit of reflex when strung.
There will be some pics posted of my bow sometime tomorrow. If they come to me in a PM, I'll post them in a separate thread on this forum.
Bill
Ferret/Van,
We've been married nearly 40 years, July 1, and it'll take more than another bow to get us to that point. She's a sweetheart!
Bill
Ron makes a fine bow. There is a product called alpha flex that will help your fingers. It's an omega 5 either lotion for immediate help or capsules for long term relief. Started on it today for serious knee problem. the inventor had serious problems and as he is a doctor, he started working on combination of things thaat could help him. He now is very mobile. I'll work it a week or so and let you know if you might look into it.
Bill, it's your hobby and you are enjoying it. Nu'in' wrong with that. Jawge

Nice looking longbow Bill
That sure is a purdy bow wildman. Welcome back to the world of wood!
Bill, do you get a case of Four Corner Nabs with that Royal Crown? :bigsmyl: :biglaugh: Only a guy from North Carolin will get that joke, I'm guessing.
I understand. I went the same route several times. I was a precision benchrest shooter... scopes, gadgets, reloading, etc. The whole thing was too complicated and tense. I worked my way down to traditional round ball flintlock muzzle loaders... no bolt actions, special firing mechanisms, sabots, etc. When I got old enough my vision wouldn't let me shoot open iron sights any more, I switched to archery. Same thing... went quickly from compound to recurve to longbow to Howard Hill longbows. Utter simplicity. Arrows... went the same way. Startied with carbon and aluminum... inserts, weights, different nock attaching systems. Bah! Went to wood... spine it, seal it, shoot it. Simplicity keeps it enjoyable for me. Please note, however, I didn't make it any cheaper... I keep buying Howard Hill bows...
