You are a lucky man. Make the most of it and share it with us!
RUN RUN RUN
Get a good camera to share with us wannabes!
Elksong,
Too cool--I also drew a ram tag--S12
Congratulations Jason! Like Roadkill suggested - start running now!
Steve, You are one lucky dog! AZ elk, and now this! I know, it's like you keep telling me, you've gotta' put your name in the hat! Way to go! Guess you won't be looking at NM landowner tags as a back up plan anymore.
Makes my knee hurt just thinking about it. I'll have to hunt vicariously through you guys. Congrats and good luck. What part of CO are ya'lls units? I've only hunted the southern units but for elk.
That is awesome news. Enjoy the planning and anticipation for this one.............Shick
Congrats Jason  You are a lucky guy.
Good luck to you on youre upcoming hunt :D
Tracy
Congratulations
WOW!!!!!!....... Congrats...... I've got 9 bonus points here in AZ and don't have a snowballs chance of drawing...... yet...... :D Terry
Terry,
you have at least a 90% better chance than I do there with 9 points :saywhat:
Congrats guys..Cant wait for the stories and pics..
Congratulations
Thanks Guy's! I don't think my feet have touched the group since I found out!
Steve, S12? Is that In the Snowmass/Maroon Bells? If so I can help you out, I know that area well.
Buffalo Peaks.
How about one of my sheep hunting buddies (resident rifle hunter) drew one of your Desert tags! Two years ago he drew THE New Mexico NR Desert tag...lucky, lucky, lucky.
He needs to play the LOTTO!
Congrats and good hunting
Wow! Congrats and best of luck to you.
Congratulations and best of luck!
Congratulations to Steve & Jason. In your workout routine, don't forget to get your feet in shape. You are going to be hiking on a lot of rocks, so include hiking on rocky, uneven terrain as a part of your workout. Also, practice shooting severe downhill shots. Steve, if you are going to be at Compton, there are several veteran S12 sheep hunters that will be there. Jim
Awesome!! Congrats  How long did it take you guys to get tags? The best of luck for you guys! Cheers, Matt
Congratulations Jason, nothing like hunting bighorn sheep!!! We will be expecting full coverage including narrative and pictures of all aspects of your hunt, including scouting. I was lucky and drew a once in a lifetime bighorn permit here in SD so I know what an awesome critter they are to hunt. I will post a couple pictures of my ram to get your juices going even more if that is possible. Caveat, although I hunted the 1st part of the season exclusively with my recurve I ended up taking this sheep with a rifle. I am not trying to get off topic I just wanted to post a couple pics for Jason.
Please...we only allow pics of trad bow kills.
Dang i hope Mark Baker doesn't see this, he'll have to write another song. LOL
Congrats.
Mike
Great luck!! Big Horn with trad bow - in pursuit of the Holy Grail or as close as your gonna get in my books. Looking forward to your scouting trips and the trophy shots!
I will be taking LOTS of pictures and try and keep everyone posted. It would be cool I guess if TG would let me post a"scouting journal". Is there a place here for that?
That is the animal I would want to hunt most if given a choice and one of the most majestic animals...what a prize! Can't wait!!
Rocky mountain bighorn have got to be the primo challenge to shoot with the terrain and habits.
I'm excited for you!!
Congrats!
Jason, If you were to start a thread called "Bighorn Scouting Journal" I know I for one would follow your every footstep!
We all aren't going to be lucky enough to draw a tag like you did. Please take us with you!
Congratulations! I hope to draw such a tag before I get too old for those mountains.
Good luck to you guys. Pray for stable wind! I swear sheep know they can bed in certain areas not because they can see, but because the wind is so iffy. If you can take away their eyes, all you have left to beat is their nose.
Have a great hunt they are a beautiful animal.
Jason
A journal of this hunt would be way cool, I wish I would have done that, I have notes scribled on everything from quivers to back of maps to carving on rocks, I know what happened, but I wish others did, anymore these are just about once in a lifetime tags, you will get far more if you share.
good luck, you have a great tag, use it wisely
Scott George aka-- Hornhunter
I agree, Since I live 40 miles from the sheep I will get to scout a bunch, if things go the way I want them to. So I will try and keep everyone here updated on my trips. I will start a new post as soon as I take my first trip into sheep country! Thanks for all the well wishes and support.
Good luck Jason! I'm going on my first sheep hunt in Alaska this year.
i dont know if i could be more jealous.
bighorns are at the top of my dream hunt list. get a biggun
Congrats, :clapper: Enjoy the hunt!!!!!! Bighorns are my lifelong dream hunt
