The Silvertip came on Friday, but today was the first chance I got to post pics. Here are the specs:
62" 60#@29" (I draw to 29.5" with this bow) T/D
Walnut dymondwood riser and limb wedges
Actionwood veneers
Checkered grip, LH with Elevated rest
On it is inscribed "Mshale kwa Masiya" which translates out to "Arrow for Christ" from Swahili.
This bow is exceptionally stable! I love the checkered grip. I have some 2219s that it really likes. They are cut to 30" with a 190gr. point. That string is a 12 strand DF-97 MountainMuffler. Brace height is just a HAIR under 8".
I have become very accurate with the bow over the last few days and LOVE how it shoots, smooth and quick. It's gonna make a great partner to my DAS bow, love em both. Thanks to everyone who recommended this bow, I'm 100% satisfied and very pleased that I chose this bow. God bless,
Craig
Nice bow Craig! But the shelf is on the wrong side!LOL
Nice bow!!! The checkered grip is a geat option.I bought a silvertip in 1994 and have not hunted with anything else since.Dave makes a geat bow.
Sweet !!!!
I think Silver Tips are the prettiest bows I have seen.
Atta Boy Craig;
"tips are my go to Bow ! Never let me down!! Aweome on long shots! Have fun with it.
Beautiful Bow... Are you gonna get out and kill a turkey with it?
Nice...Hope it treats ya well..Have ya got the phonebooks out for more tests.
Awesome bow! The shape of the grip looks like it would fit like a glove. Did you send him a mold of your hand and have him shape the grip to fit?? :)
I know you waited a long time for it, I'm happy for you!
A DAS AND a Silvertip??!! Outstanding products.
HAPPY for ya buddy, paitiently waiting for mine
very nice, but i must agree with LeRoy about the shelf. been shooting one of Dave's bows myself for the past 5 years. real critter gitters......
pseman, nope, I didn't, just told him medium and with checkering.
Rich, the DAS and the Silvertip are the top two bows I have shot. I love them both. They'll both see plenty of hunting time I'm sure. Thanks for all the compliments guys!
Very nice!! :notworthy:
I bought one in the classifieds, this week that looks a lot like yours, Craig.
What is the recomended brace height on a 60" T/D Silvertip anyways??
Here are a couple of pictures of the one I bought here.

Happy for you Craig. Enjoy the heck out of it.
Mike, is that flat grain red elm limbs?
troutms,
It was described as "cross cut elm".
Craig, is your riser the 19" riser?
I have a long draw as well and maybe think I might have opted to wait for a 62" bow. Wel'll see.
Again, very nice Silver Tip, Craig.
Mike
that is abeautiful bow cant wait till december when i should be seeing mine.
as for you mike if that bow is to short let me know and maybee i'll take it off your hands. I was thinking of buying it for my brother but you got to it first. :banghead:

BEAUTIFUL bows tim
Tim: I'll say it... I'm jealous! (gorgeous bows)
How consistent do those two bows shoot?
Are the poundages the same?
Good looking bow but I will never be able to shoot it backwards like that! Mike that is a sweet to, how did you like lonewolf stand?
Tim Golder, sweet looking bows you got.
Bishop, thanks again for the lonewolf stand. As my luck goes, 2 days before I got it, I blew out my left knee at work and I had to have surgery on my MCL and LCL in that knee, so I didn't get a chance to try it out. I'll give the lonewolf stand a good workout this year here in the Piney Woods of East Texas.
Mike
very pretty
Thanks for the compliments on my bows! Yes Rich, both bows are within a pound of each other. 55 and 56 @ my 27 inch draw.
Like many of you I've had a slew of bows but in the past two years the only bow I've shot was my Schafer. So much that I have a brand new 3 piece longbow that I received in August that has never been given a fair chance.
The grip of the Schafer is extremely consistent and both of these bows (ff models) are very quiet and quick. There are so many great bows out there, I just like the look and feel of Dave's bows...always have.
For years I fought the off the shelf or elevated rest battle, I just didn't like the look of a rest. I still don't care for the look but they are sooooo forgiving and you will shoot better. I've had rests on both my bows for the past two months and their going to stay! The one thing I do like is that I can fletch up my Heritage 150's with 3 vanes and they fly identical to my feathers. That is huge plus if I go away on a hunt. I hate worrying about my feathers getting wet. I've tried all of the feather protectors and they do work but you still have to be careful not to lay your bow down on the feathers and heavy rain will eventually take it's toll on even the best silicone treatments. 95% of the time I stick with feathers but the option of vanes is there and it's nice.
Thanks, Tim, they are both beautiful.
Between the vanes, and the arrow rest, I think Paul Schafer would be pleased!
tim glad you said that about the elevated rest.i just put one on to test before i give my final order to beth.man i was surprised i thought it might be just me having a good couple of days.bob palmer who told me how to set up my bow with the rest said it would make a difference.bottom line the tip will have elevated rest.
Hey Keith.......I think Bob's been shooting a Schafer longer than anyone I know, it's got to be close to 20 years and I've never seen him with another brand bow!
Both of my bows are tillered to be shot off the shelf and both tuned great once I put the rest on, so I'm not sure how critical it is to have Dave build the bow with the idea that a rest will be used. Just a thought.......I also told Beth I'm not sure whether I'll use a rest or not.
