I see guys in here all the time posting pics of there new arrows they just made. I have gathered that many of you have many, many arrows. I feel like i should stock up and thought I would try to make it fun and see how many arrows most of yall have on hand.
I got big huge total of 8 right now :biglaugh:
You mean how many dozen? MANY. I am addicted to tinkering with arrows and bows. So many different shafts so little time.
Hmmmmm. I'm scared to answer, You could be spying for my wife! She's always asking me the same thing!
Im talking single arrow counting.
TNTC, to numerous to count.
Not Enough!! :)
I've got 200 just in woodies. 2 doz. carbons and
around 5 doz. aluminums.
I have enough to start or stop a small war.
Flu-flus, hunting arrows and target arrows, 8 or 10 dozen give or take a dozen or two.
I figure I've got 5 or 6 dozen completed arrows, not counting a hundred or so for small game.
I don't have enough. If my wife should ask, please tell her the same. ;)
I have various sizes and spines of carbon, aluminum and cedar...must have more cedar arrows...must make more arrows. Arrow making is extremely addictive. I think it is from the aroma of cedar. :help: :biglaugh:
I am actually down to six shootable arrows!!!!!!!, I brake them a lot, I have around 200, but they are all bent, or need new nocks or points in them, getting stuff to make more right now
I have three.
but I'm registered at 3Rivers to get 6 more.
me i have 131 arrows not many still need more :biglaugh:
2 dozen woodies and 9 dozen carbons.
one carbon that is ready to shoot, and about 4 more I need inserts in. Hey, at least I have one. I have a bunch more about 20 or so, but they don't shoot weell at al from my bow, and they're too short, I draw to 30" Some day I will have dozens.
I cannot count them all,LOL. Dozens and Dozens.
Danny
many colors, different fletches, spine and tip. Have 4 dozen raw woodies shafts and 3 dozen AL and about 2 dozen carbons-just shafts-just in case. I have 5 dozen "collector" shafts.
If my bows and arrows were guns and bullets the police would probably raid my place and declare they had found an arsenal.
Let me ask you a question in return - how are you supposed to find the right spine arrow for a bow if you don't have a bunch of every spine and type of arrows to try? :bigsmyl:
A five gallon bucket full, plus about six dozen.
I got 15 wood target arrows. 4 woodies with hunting broadheads, and 4 woodies with judos. Then I got 8 carbons that double as target and hunting arrows.
I make them up as I break them up!
Cam
Well, I have one less as of last night 'cause my wife decided to whack our barking dog with one of my woodies.
My question to her : "Why didn't you whack her with one of yours?"
Her answer to me : "Cause I didn't want to break of mine."
Figures...gotta love woman logic
I think a while back a buddy and I were talking about this and I counted 17 dozen carbons.Probably have that many aluminum and woods.
I don't have that kind of time, plus I dunno if ya count all the maimed arrows awaiting repair or cannibalization as "partials", to be sorted into fractional values. The bent ones I would consider entire, of course, for counting purposes.
But again, either I go to work today earning money, or I face the spectre of sorting all these sticks for free, and actually seeing how much repair work I have ahead of me. Lots easier to just buy another dozen or two at this year's trad shoots! :jumper:
Killdeer
Stopped counting at 375 shafts a couple weeks ago and have purchased more since... Never to many arrows.LOL.
Somewhere around 4 dozen bare wood shafts waiting in the wings.........just in case, and a dozen in-work.Roughly 7-8 dozen woodies ready to go,and about 3 dozen carbons, shafts and arrows combined.............oh,yeah.....also about a dozen aluminum arrows.
about 2 dozen woodys, 15 dozen carbons, 10 dozen aluminum
Two dozen woodies.
Somewhere over 200 woodies, about 2 doz alum shafts left over. And at least 2 doz unfinished wood shafts
I have a total of almost 100 arrows, but I never have more than 10 fit for one bow. About 30-40 of them are broken. :biglaugh:
Sean
Why on earth do you fellas need that many???
I know I know why not, but some of yall got a small fortune in arrows.
Im looking for donations :biglaugh:
28 woodies ...20aluminums...3 carbons...6 canes
I have a lot and need more ;)
I thought it was a sickness specific to me. I feel better knowing I'm in good company! I have about 200 shootable; wood, aluminum, and carbon. I also have over 100 wood shafts waiting for attention; Cedar, Douglas Fir and now some Ramin dowels to play with, and I'm already thinking about some Hexshafts. What is really sick is that I live on a 27' sailboat. Messing with arrows helps me deal with cabin fever during winter, and times I can't shoot. One winter I tied hundreds of flies. I'd love to start building a bow, but no room for it, the small things have to suffice.
Dan
"As Many As Stars In Sky!!!!!"
Ironbelly..... "The Mountain Men"
I have at least 100 shootable arrows, some are cedar, some aluminum and some carbon....
And then I have a bunch of various spines for figuring out the spine ya need....
And then I have a collection of Wood arrows left over from ones I bought, I like to keep 1 or 2 of each dz I buy, So I can look at the differant feathers and cresting etc....
I thought I had a bunch untill I read what most of Ya'll have......
Arrows are like firewood, you can never have to many or to much !!!
uhhh... five. All tapered ramin stumpers: self-nocks, nutter heads, fletched with duct tape and crested with permanent marker (so ugly that they have a beauty all their own) :) $0.96 and 20 minutes each
(feeling some serious SHAFT-envy here fellas)
on the up side, they are cheaper per shot than .22LR and they hit like hammers.
I can't count that high LOL :D :D
7 dozan. I like to buy then in the 100s. :)
I have a couple........of racks like this. :p actually 3  One is raw shafts.

RedTX: "Why on earth do you fellas need that many???"
Many of us shoot numerous styles and differing poundage bows. I personally shoot, wood, aluminum, and carbons, from selfbows, longbows, and recurves that vary in weight from 43# to 75#'s. When I started making selfbows I had a set of test arrows made at my draw length that spined from 45# to 75#'s. This allows me to grab an arrow and test how they fly from the new bow, then order a new set for the bow. I like to keep a specific set of arrows for each bow so that usually accounts for fifteen to twenty dozen. I won't get into the varying types of wood available. Also, when I break or lose four or five arrows from a matched dozen, another dozen are ordered to replace them. After building over fifty selfbows the number of arrows tends to build up. In addition, I have several hundred aluminum arrows from my compound days that haven't been out of their boxes in almost twenty years (note: I really should get rid of these, but not to many people shoot 26" arrows any more). Then you have test shoot all the new carbons that come out every year, just because they are new. And the old ones can't be replaced because they don't make them, or their parts anymore, resulting in additional arrows. I guess the prudent person would sell many of them and buy a couple of good bows with the money, but then he would need more arrows for the new bows wouldn't they? Besides, I think they look really neat stuffed around the archery room.
:biglaugh: :biglaugh:
Now let's not get into the effect broadheads have on all these arrows. When you start combining the three variations above (Type, spine weight, bow weight) with the types/styles and weights of broadheads and the numerous combinations, it can get confusing. I think there is a need for me to get a few dozen more arrows.
Oh ya, back to the original question, I have in excess of five hundred arrows, and that is a conservative estimate. My wife gave up asking how many arrows, broadheads, and bows I need several years back. Now she avoids the archery room and just shakes her head and smiles when she does go into it.
Dan, yours are way to organized. Half the fun is sorting throught hundreds of arrows to find the correct one when testing new bows.
About 18. 6 practice 6 hunting and 6 from my compound days. I usually order another dozen when I shoot all my hunting arrows or break all my practice ones.

That's what drove the design of the racks. :banghead:

There Ya Have It!!!...And I thought I was the only arrow-holic around!!!... ...This guy has "only" one hundred arrows in carbon and aluminum... :p ...
Thanks For Asking!!!... ;) ...

Hey Dan, tha is a great arrow rack design. cant quite make out what the tubes are made from, Cardboard ??? PVC ??? How do you keep the tubes from faling out of the wooden frame ?
I absolutley love that design.
I'm skert just thinking about trying to count them. :scared:  Somes good, mores better , to many's just enough! :bigsmyl:
Brent
How many ? Yikes.....I ain't gonna count in case my wife reads this. :knothead:
I once told her about my fishing pole count and I still get grief for that. Every bow she sees in my hand; "Is that a new bow?"
Actually she's great about my archery hobby..... I'm the one who's most worried. :biglaugh:
My arrow total goes up and down throughout the year. At it's peak I probably have 300 on hand. At the lowest it's more like 200.
I'm actually counting how many arrows I break or lose in 2007. I always guessed around 100/yr. So far I'm down 76 arrows and it's only May 1st! My work has been slow since Feb so I've had lots of time to shoot stumps. Nothing smells better than broken cedar on your day off! :)
That one is cardboard tubes, the other ones are thinwall drain pvc. There is really nothing holding them other than the front and rear frames. I think I hot glued the first version. Kind of a tack weld.
Here's a pvc one.

I like the cardboard rug tubes. Ya can put a plastic endcap on them for 30 cents. I have 6 tubes pretty much full. I would say 12-15 dozen. I should say though i shoot only about 3 dozen of the spine I need right now. Shawn
8 shootable arrows at present. Try to keep around a dozen. I repair any that break near the point, so don't need hundreds on hand. Just keep using the same ones over and over.
I have about the same number for my son, half dozen for my wife, who never shoots but wants to know she has them, half dozen for one daughter, and lots of arrows that have been "outgrown" by the kids.
How many arrows???? You tell me....This is just in the archery shop.....i am going into Woody production in the wood shop right now.....Haven't ever bothered to count arrows......
I'm with Walt here....got to have some fun rooting through them.... (http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u301/kirkll/Arrow%20building/DSCN1245.jpg)
little over 7 doz...I think it's a lucky number :bigsmyl:
There was a quite similar thread some time ago - counting arrows - and how to store them - wanna see?
Here you go (http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=039346)
I don't know how many I have, but I know its not enough. :biglaugh:
Arrows, Arrows everywhere!!!
Someone give me a bow so's I can fling one into the air.
The feathers, the cresting, and the fine craftsmanship,
The care that goes into them from nock to tip!
Too many or too few we never get it right,
That's why we keep makin' them through the day and into the night.
Some say it is a passion, some, like our wifes, say it is an obsession.
All I know is I will keep making them 'cause it's too much darned FUN!
So, here's to the brotherhood of archers who make a stick into an arrow.
It's part of us right down to the depth of our very marrow.
Got carried away...I have 4 dozen and more shafts on order!
