From my understanding the are essentially the same thing... Dacron

One made by Brownell's and the other BCY...

Don't know about the mix and match...  They may be different size strands, but don't know for sure..

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but B50 stretches much more than B500. Mix the two together and you're going to have a lot more pressure on the B500 strands than on the B50, eventually resulting in a snapped string. I use black B450 (essentially the same thing as B500 I think) and add an extra two coloured strands of B50 just for looks. I wouldn't make a string consisting of equal parts B50-B500, or give the B50 and weight bearing load when mixed with B500. Most of the weight will go to the B500 and that won't end up too well.

I have been given to understand that B50 and B500 are identical, just sold by different companies.  I use them interchangably, together and alone.

That could very well be right. I based my opinion on 500 because it sounds much the same as 450. I have never actually worked with the stuff myself.

From what I know what was said above is correct.  One is made by Brownell and the other is BCY.

Niether is made by Brownell or BCY, they're both made by Dupont.  Its all polyester, the companies just spin it in convenient cones for the archery industry and choose to call it whatever they want to call it.
