I'm wanting to get into Trad. shooting. I've shot compounds over 30yrs (telling my age). But I've been getting the itch to go trad. I shot a hybrid at the archery shop awhile back and really enjoyed it. I have an opportunity to get a good deal on a PSE Kudu. Would it be possible to find a set of hybrid limbs that would fit the riser or have some made. I know I don't know anything about trad. bows, so I know to do is ask.
Thanks, Dave
Sorry I cant help with the specific question..But welcome and you have come to the right place for any question you may have..
hey Dave! WELCOME to the gang. Great place to hang out. Lot's of good folk on here. I switched after about 30 years myself and the only regret I have is not doing it sooner. You're in for a whole new world of fun here friend. Where you at in good 'ol West Virginia??
Hey Dave,
Welcome to the Gang, lots of good people about. My first "trad" bow was also a PSE Kudu, a 55#er. I still have it too. It's a pretty decent beginner bow, mine shoots a heavy arrow with authority.
I would imagine that you could have some one make you some hybrid limbs. The riser design is pretty simple and straight forward as far as 3pc. takedowns go. There are quite a few bow builders who hang out here (I'm not one), and I'm sure some one will peek in and give you a better idea of what's involved. Again, welcome to the Gang.
Shane
welcome.you're opening up a whole new world.
Man, you guys are quick. Thanks for the welcome. SSWV I live in Huntington. I may not be able to shoot trad. but I've been thinking hard about it. I like think the challenge would be very rewarding. Also it looks like a lot of fun. I see all these trad. bows and know they are a work of art.
Dave
Welcome to our :campfire: :archer: .
All right, I'm showing my ignorance, but what is a hybrid? anyone have pictures?

This is a great place to hang out and learn.
Enjoy the journey.

Dave,
Welcome. Why don't you get the shop to help you set up that Kudu as is and start slow? Get the right arrows and every thing else tuned and learn to enjoy shooting it before you try changing limbs. How heavy is the kudu? 45 pounds or so is a good starting place. Steve
Welcome! :campfire: :coffee:
Welcome!
Welcome to a great site..
I live about 30 miles south of you in the speed-bump town of Louisa,Ky.
If you get a chance, check out Borders in Summit,Ky. Good choice of bows and good people.
Or else stop by my house!!
Once again, welcome!!
Thanks guys, if I get the Kudu I'll shoot it for awhile to see how I do. Rwsbow I've been to Borders different times and go to and buy bows at O'Brien's a lot. I even shoot at Greenbo from time to time, good bunch of people. I see all these beautiful bows and know it could get addictive. :archer:
Howdy :wavey: :wavey:
Dave!
I was wondering what had happened to ya. Good to see ya over here.
Kevin
Welcome to the Gang. :wavey:
The Kudu's a decent bow for the money, I believe I'd try picking up a used hybrid rather than trying to convert the Kudu though. Less headaches.
Welcome to Tradgang this is one of the best forums ive the oppertunity to join and has become one of my favorites ive learned alot here.
As far as shooting goes if I can shoot a stick bow anyone can! If anyone at your shop shoots trad id speak to them they can help you get your form on track and help you decide a shooting style and maybe help with the bow your looking in to. Everyone here will also be a great help they have been to me ive been shooting a compound for 6 years and swicthed to trad last year and its a blast.
Welcome both.... you and me, hehe.
Thanks, guys. I bought a Lone Wolf the other day. Thought if I buy a good bow, I'll try harder to shoot. Man have I got a long way to go! http://s153.photobucket.com/albums/s226/deetraks/?action=view¤t=untitled-1.jpg
Welcome Paulsen, I tried to post a pic of my bow but all I get is a box with an X in it.
Thanks deertraks, nice bow you have there.
I have been shooting for about 1 year now, and are especially found of my bamboo/osage bow made by very good norwegian "woodpecker".
I'll have som pictures later.

You're going to have a ball! :campfire:
1/2 Primitive, hybrid bows are deflex/reflexed longbows as opposed to a straight limbed longbow ie HH..
