Zach turned 17 on the 17th. He was thrilled to receive a pair of Doug Campbell's knives with antler handles and leather sheaths.
A couple months earlier, I contacted Doug about making a pair of special knives using the antlers from a spike deer Zach killed last fall. After discussing it, I asked Doug to make one knife and I would let Zach choose to save his money for the other. So I shipped Doug the antlers and asked him to use the best one and ship the other back with the knife. We were all surprised when we receive two beautiful matching knives with a note from Doug stating the second knife was his gift to Zach!

Nowdays it seems more typical to worry about just getting your money's worth. Doug's actions speak volumes. Thanks Doug!
Zach has always used wooden longbows but last summer, as we were coming home from Church, we passed a man selling an old bear recurve. Zach bought it and thought it would be something to temporarily switch and try for a deer with the old recurve. The end result was a perfect shot with the spike expiring in site and...steaks & knife handles! Happened while I was traveling on business.

Awesome story, outstanding knives. Looks like a recurve worked rather well for him!
I thought it would be interesting to all the folks with kids in this sport to share several more pics of Zach (and bros/sis) growing up with bosnarras. Added bonus is the fun embarrassing Zach. Parents take note, the early pics don't seem very long ago.
