im looking for a two-piece recuve Bow.
Has anyone experience with the Great Northern Bowhunting jack-knife system ? Seems to be solid and simple, but how does it works in real life ?
Any other companys or Bowmakers who have a two-piece recurve ?
I got one from a german maker, wonderfull Bow. But i want something new.
I dont like 3 piece take-downs, and want a bow i can transport on my motorbike.

Groves used to make a very cool two piece Spitfire. You could also have someone do a bow bolt conversion on a one piece for you, or if you are handy do it yourself.
With the bowbolt, connexion, sleeves, jackkife, etc... there are quite a few choices re: 2pcs...I have a groves 2pc (had two)...you may as well search for a unicorn.
Robertson, Hornes, Ancient Spirit, McCullough...maybe Shrew...there are likely many others...the bow bolt is pretty slick and has the potential to be applied in many designs.
Better, maybe to find a bow you like nad see if hte maker will do a 2pc...

Alex if you do a search for Robertson Stykbows they have a website and Dicks Connection take down system is tool less and very durable. I have a 64# perigrine recurve with a connection and have used it reguarly for 6 years now with no problems. Joseph

I've had a number of GN Jackknife takedowns over the years with nary a problem. It's my personal preference in a takedown longbow, but works great on the Ghost, too.
I have a Jack Knife by Great Northern and they are the best two piece bows I think you can get..... IMHO, Jerry and Rick are two of the top bowyers in the country and super guys to do business with. The jack knife system is field tested tough and there are no parts to get burred up or damaged..... good luck,
There are lots of nice recurves that come in 2-piece takedowns. Look through the sponsors here and look through thier bows. The best advise as said above is to find a bow you like and then see if it is offered in a 2-piece. Good luck in your search.

I have the B/W PLB in a take down and it's great. I believe they make the PSR with the same system.
Groves is no longer in business, unfortunately...they come up used, but a two piece is extremely rare.
Browse the sponsors, look around, do some searches here...find one you like and ask. It may be offered, but if not, the bow bolt is a system that many can adapt to a design.
Check out Horne's Archery (http://www.hornesarchery.com/), they are a sponsor here and offer the bow bolt as an option.

Dan Toelke uses the bow bolt on both his Whip long bow and recurve. Google montanabows or Dan Toleke. Great bows.

Is there a " locking" system on the jack Knife system ? What will happen if the string breaks?
