I have some bemans with the xnocks and they're very tight fitting. What do you guys use to file down the inside of the knock to get it to fit right. I was thinking of an emery board like is used for finger nails, but don't know if there is enough grit.
I use the file on my leatherman.
I personally wouldn't file them. There's a good chance of weakening them too much.
To fix tight nocks I have boiled water and place the nock in for a bit to soften it and then put it on the string. When it cools it should be a looser fit.
I've also taken the serving off the my string and replaced it with thinner stuff or just made a new string with fewer strands.
I have to agree with Jeremy...Fileing is pretty harsh on serving as well.
replace them with easton super 3d nocks that have a larger throat, and/or re-serve your string as suggested above...
the water method and filing both CAN cause problems...and inconsistent release

I've gone with the hot water method (boiling is too much) or usually, a lighter serving.
I use a razor blade and remove very small shavings until I get it where its not so tight.
I've never had a nock break doing this.
Just went through this myself. Tried the boiling, didn't work good enough. Purchased emery files my wife uses, worked great. Don't file to much at first. Good luck. God bless. DT
The Easton and Bohning nocks will bend easily to accomodate different serving sizes. I have had failures with filing and cutting the nocks, but never one by simply gently bending the ears to proper fit.
I use a hex head wrench. I have one of those pocket knife hex wrenches with lots of different sizes. One of them is a perfect match for the serving on my strings. I just carefully push it down the throat and let is sit for a few seconds to spread the ears as JC puts it. For me tight nocks are the biggest hindrance to good arrow flight.
Popsicle stick and 200 grit or so sand paper.
