thanks jason, it is beautiful. bow is a chek-mate hunter I, 60# @28. arrow is a gold tip 35-55 30" with a 50gr insert and 125 grain magnus 2 blade. no 'planned' blind setup, just jumped in a bunch of bushes!
by the way, for any of you "do-it-yourselfers" i have the two wings from this bird for fletching. going once...

the tail feathers aren't exactly 'white' but their aweful close, sure was a pretty bird! here's a closer up shot.

Pretty sweet. I've never seen a turkey with white tipped tail feathers. Ours are a light brown.

interesting. i've only killed 4 turkeys here in nm, but all were similar in color to this one, even the one young jake. this is not a rio grande turkey either (at least i don't think it is). curiously though, this one had vary white/pink breast meat. the others i have gotten had darker breast meat. This was my first time hunting in this area of nm at about 9000' elevation above sea level. i was fortunate enough to see quite a few elk also. one heard of about 50 cows and calves crippled my first attempt at sun up on a young bird. two hours later i found this one in a field. lucky me!!!

That is a Merriams if I am not mistaken. 4 species in the states,Rio Grande,Merriams,Eastern and Oceola. There is another species in Mexico but I cannot remember the name.
