Title: Cedar Shafts for Strikers?
Post by: Hood on April 22, 2007, 04:11:00 PM
I was wondering if a cedar shaft would be good any good for a striker (Turkey Call).

I was going to add a deer antler to the end of it, but was just wondering how it might sound before attmepting it.

Thanks, Robert

If you can get them in 1/4" I can't see why it wont work. I like to use 1/4" ramin dowels for mine.

Go for it.  It seems to me that almost anything will work, if you get the right diameter.  If you're turning it on a lathe, just add the antler without glue so you can re-chuck it and turn it smaller if need be.  When right, glue on the antler.
