Title: New bow, need advice
Post by: ed209 on April 20, 2007, 11:26:00 PM
I have recently received my first recurve, a Chekmate Falcon with a chechen riser and elm limbs, with a draw weight of #45 at 27.5.  With this being my first trad bow I'm having trouble with arrow selection.
I'm looking at the CE Heritage 150 with a shaft length of approximately 29 to 30 inches with a 125 grain head and 100 grains of point weight.  Does this sound like a reasonable starting point or would the Heritage 250 be a better choice.

Thanks for the help.

150s start full length and cut down from the nock end 1/4" at a time until you get good bare shaft flight. Then fletch a couple up and see where they land in comparison. 250s would be way to stiff.

definitely go with the 150's, I wish I would have. check out OL Adcock's tuning method for tuning.

As stated above the 250's will be way too stiff. stick with the 150's and do like Vermonster says.
