I purchased my first Bear bow about 2 weeks ago(Grizzly 58" 50#) from a seller on ****. It shoots great and although it looked good when I purchased it, I have just finished sanding out the few scratches it had and putting on a new coat of satin poly on it. It looks brand new!
The coolest thing is that after doing some online research as to the bows age, as far as I can tell it was made in 1972. That is the year that I was born. That may only be cool to me but I can't believe that a bow that is 35 years old looks that good and shoots that good.
Per man law, I will try to post some pics as soon as the finish is complete.
Congrats on your new bow! Lessee, I was a sophomore in high school...
Too bad humans don't hold up as well as bows, but we have an excuse. We gotta go to school, go to work, pay bills and pick up dog poop. Bows spend their lives hunting, shooting, getting beauty treatments or sleeping.
I am gonna remember that come reincarnation time! :readit:
Killdeer
hmm lets see I was...not even born yet. :knothead: Not that I want Killdeer to feel OLD or anything. :p
Derek
that bow is 8 years older than me but i love the old bears also
Old, schmold! I'm just happy I ain't been kilt yet! Shoulda been taken out many a time! :D
I have a Grizzly from about the same time, belonged to my first flame. When I started bowhunting, that 55 pounder is what I carried. He had a sight on it, which I never could get the hang of, so I took it off. I didn't know about sights and canting the bow... :wavey:
Killdeer,I'm holding up like some of the old bows!I'm twisted, warped, been cracked and am showing stress lines.
I was in the 2nd Grade at the Time. :archer:
Dang, Shakes, and you look so much older !
Fxe, :smileystooges:
2nd grade? I had been out of high school for 4 years and was fixing to marry my lovely Dianne shortly afterwards.
Talk about taking some set LOL
I had been out of high school, through the Navy, (sub's) working at the big airplane shop in St. Louis for 8 years and shooting an allen
:banghead:
I was in the first grade.... HEY, I am still young...... LOL
I do own a Hoyt pro medalist hunter that was made the year I was born... It will turn 40 with me and I should say the bow still looks new. Looks better than I.

That's the year I got married. Hope your bow works out as well!
HHMMMM I had a 11&12 yr. old sons by then. The rest is just a foggy memory.
1972- just back from RVN
I don't know how old this Grizzley is and some nar-do-well made off with my best one 2 years ago.
pseman, I had the same thing happen to me. I picked up a 68# Bear Kodiak Hunter that turned out to be made the same year I was, 1969. I shoot better with it than any of my other bows and it was only about 1/3 the price of the others.
