Title: After a little research...
Post by: pseman on April 20, 2007, 12:21:00 PM
I purchased my first Bear bow about 2 weeks ago(Grizzly 58" 50#) from a seller on ****. It shoots great and although it looked good when I purchased it, I have just finished sanding out the few scratches it had and putting on a new coat of satin poly on it. It looks brand new!

The coolest thing is that after doing some online research as to the bows age, as far as I can tell it was made in 1972. That is the year that I was born. That may only be cool to me but I can't believe that a bow that is 35 years old looks that good and shoots that good.

Per man law, I will try to post some pics as soon as the finish is complete.

Congrats on your new bow! Lessee, I was a sophomore in high school...
Too bad humans don't hold up as well as bows, but we have an excuse. We gotta go to school, go to work, pay bills and pick up dog poop. Bows spend their lives hunting, shooting, getting beauty treatments or sleeping.

I am gonna remember that come reincarnation time!  :readit:

Old, schmold! I'm just happy I ain't been kilt yet! Shoulda been taken out many a time!  :D

I have a Grizzly from about the same time, belonged to my first flame. When I started bowhunting, that 55 pounder is what I carried. He had a sight on it, which I never could get the hang of, so I took it off. I didn't know about sights and canting the bow...  :wavey:

I was in the first grade.... HEY, I am still young...... LOL

I do own a Hoyt pro medalist hunter that was made the year I was born... It will turn 40 with me and I should say the bow still looks new. Looks better than I.

pseman, I had the same thing happen to me. I picked up a 68# Bear Kodiak Hunter that turned out to be made the same year I was, 1969. I shoot better with it than any of my other bows and it was only about 1/3 the price of the others.
