The wife and I are being shipped off to Mass this summer and want to put in for moose in Vermont and New Hampshire. Looking for advice on which areas are best in each state. Distance is not a factor. We would like to hunt D-I-Y, so land access is a factor. Just looking for the best areas to hunt big bulls if we draw a tag. Any help or advice is much appreciated. Thanks and shoot straight!

hey buddy Welcome, are you going to live right in Boston, My wife baby and i live abouit 4 minutes out side of Boston. As far as drawing moose tags good luck, my dad has been doing it for 12 years with no luck. But we do have some big bucks and turkeys, give me a shout.
Thanks for the welcome. We'll be living out west of Boston. Maybe the Fitchburg area, or north up in Nashua, NH. We're flying over there in 3 weeks to house hunt. We can't wait to hunt turkeys up there. We hunt turkeys here in MT with some success, but alot of times its like finding a needle in a hay stack.
well, i live jsut east and a little south of Boston in Canton. lotsa big bucks but the turkeys are jsut starting to grow here and they are dumb. I walked within 8 yards of a 3 yo gobbler last night in my work clothes. Its bow only in my town. I will tell you house hunting is expensive Ma is very expensive to live. But there are 3-d's every weekend and plenty of hunting/fishing seasons.
I got a VT cow moose permit for D-2 in '04. Saw 10 moose, 3 cows, 2 calfs and 5 bulls. All easy kills except 3 of the bulls that I jumped up, had I not been bowhunting. I hunted an area that I deer hunted for many years. Since our moose season started, success rates have gone down, because moose are really not dumb. We have moose in most of the state bur your E zones will have the most with the numbers dropping as you move farther south and east. You definately need to scout if you want a quality hunt.
OOps that should be south and west. East would be NH.
Tim, I live west of Boston in Carlisle...very close to Nashua. There is a good group of traditional shooters/bowhunters around the area. PM me when you'll be in the area...Doc
I live in the heart of moose country here in NH.Zones A B C are the best.A or B are the top 2,A draws more applications,more publicity,very good success rates in these zones.

Generally speaking the best hunting starts up north and dimisnishes as you head south.
