Those are a 3-d leafy cover that I use for turkey hunting to keep the glare off the bow. The yellow strings I just used to tie it on because the old elastic strings have broken. ;)

I stalked him for about 200 yards when he decided to come my way in a hurry. I was crouched down and when he got about15 feet away I drew, stood up and shot. Right over top of him! :knothead: He didn't know what happened and he stood up and I drilled him perfect in the chest. ;)
Nice going Jim Looks like you has some fun on your day off! After you met with me!
Brent
Good job Jim! They are tough. I had one once try and climb in a ground blind with me...I shot him with a Carbonwood (Ground Grizzly is right, I swear he had a hump) and he reached around and bit the danged arrow in half.
Good shooting!

Roger this bugger was tough! He actually pulled the arrow out of his chest after he chewed the crap out of it!
I couldn't believe how hard by heart was pounding during the whole thing, you would have swore I was hunting the real grizzlies! :biglaugh:
So, what kinda broadhead did you use for him...
Nice, it is shame but we do not have many left where I live in NY. I used to shoot 30-40 a year as a kid, but all the farms are gone and all the fields are turning fallow or have houses in them. Shawn

I used a Wensel Woodsman. I have several arrows for woodchucks with Snuffers on them but the arrow I pulled out of the quiver had the Woodsman on it.
I have used 2 blade broadheads on them before but I like the knockdown power of the 3 blade so they don't make it back to their den.
Nice.Good shootin.
very nice, love small game.
Good job Jimbo. Woodchucks are cool.
I have eaten those grizz before not to bad just marinade well...How do you like your grizz pilgrim?
Nice
Nice Jim. Good shootin.
Some guys are blessed with the ability to handle danger! Way to inspire the rest of us!
Good job. Great idea for limb covers.
Jim, nice thanks your helping out us farmers.
Cody

You Da man Jimbo :notworthy: :notworthy:
Thanks guys. It felt so good to return to predator mode and escape the hectic work life for a little while.
While I was stalking this guy I imagined that I was slipping along an Alaskan stream full of Salmon when I saw this huge boar Grizz. Then I was snapped back to reality when I pictured my bank account balance...$0.00!!!
Nice silver back - turf grizzly !! JC outa be jumping in here soon with a recipe for ya. Lots of fun to shoot, their hard on arras when they disapear down a hole with your $15.00 arra.
MMMMMMMMMM, that's some fine eatin right there! Peel em quick after the kill, get the musk glands off (kinda behind each leg), soak em in water in the fridge for a couple of days changing out the water, add your favorite crock-pot recipe and SHAZAM! good food.
What did I tell Ya!!! JC can smells them groundhogs on his putor! I took my son ground hoggin when he was three. He heard me calling them groundhogs and my buddy calling them woodchucks so Gray started calling the woodhogs. So thats what we called them for a few years.
Thanks for the recepie, I look forward to trying it. Here is a picture of one that I shot out of a tree several years ago with a 68lb. Bighorn. I was a little over bowed! I had him mounted life size. :archer:

Oh man. Just got to examine a woodchuck skeleton in my zoology class today. I couldn't get over how sturdly constructed those little guys are. Comparing it to a raccoon, the chuck had smaller bones, but alot thicker and more robust. No wonder why these suckers are so tough...
Jim you should use that for a decoy :saywhat:
I have noticed quite a few out eating grass on ditch banks lately. :)
Doug, when I used to spend a lot of time on the Maple River, I used to see lots and lots of woodchucks. They seem to really like making their dens along riverbanks and I have thought that it would be fun to do a woodchuck float and hunt them that way. It would be easy with a gun but challenging with a bow. :)
How much wood could a woodchuck chuck? About 3/8" of cedar :jumper: Nice mount Jim! They really are tough to stalk, they are on red alert non stop!
Brent
PS I've yet to over kill anything!
And it was a pleasure meeting you! Hopefully we can do it on a little shooting expedition soon!
Then again that rat down a piece of 4" pipe with the 10 ga might just have been! :jumper:
Awsome job 2,, Hey you look familiar,,were you at a bunny hunt in the grant area when we got that dumping of snow,,,I was the one with the beagle,,I thought you looked familiar,,. JB
Yup, that was me! That day was just a good work out walking in waist deep now! :biglaugh:

Sounds good! I will be making frequent checks of my carp shooting spots and I will keep you posted. :)
Woodchucks are good eatin, especially the young ones just like a big squirrel
That is obviously a Roon and Bocket Grizz. Would like to know what it scores after manditory drying period.Frank
That's a good lookin pig. Pound for pound the toughest thing I ever shot and great for working on your spot and stalk skills. They wise up real fast. Congrats,
Grant
Nice Chuck Jimbo,
Is that the one you were telling me about, on our way home from Cliff's?-

Backdoor, the one I was telling you about is still there. He is in a hay field about a half mile from my house. I just need to get ahold of the landowner to go after him. I already have my stalking route planned out and if I can shoot decent he's in deep doo-doo! ;)
