Hey, Im Cameron and I am making my first bow, a red oak board bow. Its going OK I guess but I know that the limbs are very weak at the ends so I will have to weaken it more on the inner part. This forum looks like a good forum. Some people at Ojam, Oklahoma traditional bowyer and flintknaping jamboree, told me about this place so I wanted to join. Just wanted to post this to say hi.
Glad to meet ya!!
Chris

Welcome Cameron! I'm sure you'll enjoy it here. Lots of great people and lot of info.
Is it ok if I post a picture of my bow on a tillering stick on this thread or just show a picture of it strung? It might take a while to figure out how but Il figure it out, I already have a photobucket album so if I have to have that Im already prepared. Thanks
Cameron

Welcome to the gang. Alan
Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I just took a picture of my bow braced but not in a grove on my tillering board. One thing i see about it is that its bending a lot at the ends and not much at midlimb or closer to the handle. Heres the picture: (http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n258/keese30/DSC08568.jpg)
Admins, I dont know how to resize pictures so if I am supose to resize it I am sorry I dont know how to. If I am supose to then I will find out how to and fix it.
Thanks for any advice and also thanks for the welcomes.

 :campfire: :archer:Glad to have you!
Cameron, welcome aboard! I have not made a board bow yet , but I always try to get the whole limb moving before trying to brace it. I would leave the outer thirds alone and work on the middle and inner thirds. Check how they are bending by floor tiller until you see all the wood working. When you first brace your bow start with a low brace height, say about 2". Might try putting this on a different post so folks know you are making a bow and would like help, and more guys will chime in with their opinions....Good Luck...Terry
Welcome :wavey:
Come on over and stay awhile!
Hey what's up! welcome :wavey:
to resize pictures, all you have to do once you've uploaded them on your photobucket page, is click on "edit" on top of the picture, then click on "resize", and choose how small you want the pic to be. the smaller the numbers, the smaller the picture
Alex
Welcome Cameron. Can't wait to see how your bow turns out!As already said start a topic on tiller help and I am sure some of the pros will chime in.

Thanks everyone, yes that is a good idea, I will start another post later about it so I can have some time to work some of teh biger problems out of the bow... maybe lol. I will take the brace down untill I get farther because in that pic it was at a 6 in. brace. Thanks for the advice and warm welcomes. It seems like there are a lot of people on this forum because those are some fast replies I got when I first posted this. Thanks again.
Cameron
